To get an idea of how much of an opening you need for a wide field of vision, look at modern motorcycle helmets. Granted, those aren't sitting right on the face, but still.

ToastyPotato posted:Most people on the planet would have had no reason to read LOTR in their life. I never understand this stupid argument. It doesn't matter how old it is. No one is forced to read GoT or LOTR in their lives. You can read a ton of books and never have read either series. I have personally never read Dune, for example. It literally costs nothing to let people enjoy something as they experience it for the first time. Do you really walk around like an rear end in a top hat and mistreat people because you happen to have seen/read whatever they are currently experiencing before them? I mean I'm the one who has usually seen/read poo poo before most of my friends and family and I don't act like a colossal dick just because they are slower to get around to it than me. I saw Winter Soldier before most of my friends and family and I didn't make a big deal out of the fact that a bunch of them only saw it this weekend and some haven't even seen it yet. I know a few who are waiting for the DVD even. I knew people who knew jack poo poo about The Hobbit and I didn't roll my eyes at them when they expressed ignorance regarding the story. Just don't be a dick to people! Does Scalped get good? I read the first trade and thought the art was hideous and the main character completely unlikeable.

Kingtheninja posted:Is this really going to be airing on a Friday? Are Fridays no longer death slots or is NBC just saying "good luck new guy" to the show? Being on NBC is a death slot, so being on Fridays is just a matter of degrees at this point. Plus I have the feeling that they realize the audience they're targeting is *probably* not the type that will watch it live, anyway, so it doesn't matter as much.

The Word is barely a defining characteristic of Jesse, and Ennis pretty much has him stop using it halfway through the series except in really special situations. Even ignoring that, maybe the idea is to make it a surprise to people coming in fresh to the series.
