Time for a little robot chauvinism!

It is a good, good summer to live in Boston.

First off, at the Harvard Film Archive, July begins their Complete Fritz Lang retrospective. Now's your chance to see Metropolis with live musical accompaniment. My goal is to at least see all the Dr. Mabuse films.

Then, the Coolidge Corner Theater has a good line up.

Big Screen Classics - Mondays at 7PM

7/14 - Blazing Saddles
7/21 - The Wizard of Oz
7/28 - Point Break
8/4 - Cool Hand Luke
8/11 - Thelma & Louise
8/18 - The Big Lebowski
9/1 - Jaws
10/27 - An American Werewolf in London

Cinema Jukebox - Mondays at 7PM

7/7 - A Hard Day's Night
8/25 - Nashville
9/29 - Stop Making Sense

After Midnite - Friday and Saturday nights at midnight

7/5 - Snowpiercer (no Friday show due to July 4th)
7/11 & 7/12 - Scanners
7/18 & 7/19 - The Devils
7/25 & 7/26 - Conan the Barbarian
8/1 & 8/2 - Zombie
8/8 & 8/9 - 28 Days Later
8/15 & 8/16 - Re-Animator
8/22 & 8/23 - Night of the Living Dead
8/29 & 8/30 - Shaun of the Dead

Kendall Square Cinema has started doing midnight shows. Only one listed right now is The Princess Bride on July 11th and 12th.

The Museum of Fine Arts is hosting the Roxbury International Film Festival right now, and will follow that up with the Boston French Film Festival.

But perhaps taking the cake is the Brattle. They just announced their July and August schedule (with a bit of September) and it is astounding. Check it out here: http://www.brattlefilm.org/category/calendar-2/#post-12252

But amongst the highlights are a full week-long run of Snowpiercer starting July 4th, a double feature of Intolerance with The Three Ages, Hausu, Videodrome, Sorcerer, Robert Wise retrospective including a Citizen Kane/Magnificent Ambersons double feature, Gordon Willis tribute including The Godfather and Annie Hall, and the Girl Power series including the astounding Daisies and Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains.

So start saving your money.

As someone who just discovered Pennies From Heaven and how it's one of the most beautiful things Gordon Willis ever shot, I'm really excited about seeing it in 35mm at the Brattle in September.

Also, I finally get to see Sorcerer and The Raid 2.
