How shady is it to buy 3rd party power supplies for tablets? The charger for my surface pro 1 got a tear and started smoking/burning so I need a new one but the official microsoft one is like $40 on amazon so I was wondering how much of a risk it would be spending $15 on something else.

I don't understand the point of a 7 inchish tablet, like you might as well just use your phone at that point. My surface pro is 10 inches and I would be annoyed having anything smaller, I probably have lovely eyes

I'm thinking of getting a new tablet because the battery life on my surface pro gen 1 is complete garbage by this point, also it's got a decent amount of kinks that I'm a little tired of dealing with. I think I want to get a samsung tab A 10.1 (the model with the s pen, both because I want the s pen and also it has 3gb ram instead of the 2gb in the model without the pen) because I want android or windows, 10" or bigger, decent resolution, the wacom digitizers, and as cheap as I can possibly go with all those criteria. Is there any glaring flaw to that plan that I can't see? I know the Tab s2/s3 would be better but they're too expensive.

The marvel chip in my surface pro somehow kept causing it to have memory leaks and hard crashes within 20 minutes of plugging or unplugging any type cover or other peripheral into it

I picked up a used first gen iPad pro in SA mart for $400 and the price/performance ratio there is really really good

I know the reason stuff can run so well on it is because it was specifically made for iOS but as long as that doesn't prevent you from doing what you need (no go if you want Photoshop or whatever) it's a good choice

I'm looking to get a couple tablets for my company to use with the ifleet app so we can connect it to our QuickBooks & smart service company files. We've been using 1st Gen iPad minis for quite a few years, I feel like we should stick with the iPads because of how many years we were able to get out of them with the heavy use they see but we are also on a pretty tight budget and I wasn't sure if any Android options have come out in the last few years that are inexpensive without being super flimsy.

It seems like there's second gen minis with unlocked cellular for around $200 floating around eBay and the like, is there any other option that seems better? I wish we could get them refurb through apple themselves or Best Buy but it seems like we're at the mercy of whatever they have in stock at the moment which is normally stuff out of our price range. The next best option seems like maybe one of Samsung's (are they still generally considered the best Android tablet?) but I'm very unfamiliar with them.

Other important thing is we need something that we can get OtterBox or similar style cases for cause these things will have a very rough and tumble life with us. Also needs cellular service, either unlocked or through at&t.
