You have to take into account that making a musical is a huge pain in the rear end, as is dubbing it, even more so dubbing it in time for a simulcast. Putting together a competent musical episode as a random one-off joke is just such an awesome, stupid thing to do that you have to respect it.

You can appreciate that something is hard to do and still bad. I will watch the musical episode subbed at some point but the songs were bad, the lyrics were really awkwardly smashed in there, the jokes were less funny than the rest of the series
