From Thomas's jurisprudence, we can logically conclude that fetuses are human, while school children are not human. Other entities which fall into the human category include corporations and Supreme Court justices. Other entities which fall into the not human category include, well, this list is much longer.

McConnell didn't hold the seat open by successfully persuading anyone based on the strength of his excuse, he did it using his power as Majority Leader to set the Senate calendar. As such, he can only hold a seat open while he's Majority Leader. If Hillary wins, then in order to steal the seat, the GOP has to hold control of the Senate in not only 2016 but also 2018, and then defeat Hillary in 2020. If Hillary wins again in 2020, then they have to hold onto the Senate in both 2020 and 2022 as well. And so on.

Even if you assume that holding the seats open indefinitely doesn't provoke a political backlash against the GOP, they're still gonna lose eventually.

That was obamas failure. With six months to go, it was his responsibility to show the consequence of McConnell’s actions to the voters. He could have nominated Jackson and given the progressive and black voters a real reason to get out and vote, but instead he tried to judo McConnell by choosing a nominee McConnell had already said would be acceptable thus showing how the GOP were hypocrites. Turns out making the positive argument vote for trump and you’ll get the people you want to overturn roe was more compelling.

The conservative legal movement understands power and recognizes that power is to be wielded to remake the world in your vision. The liberals have no answer for this because they view power as a thing simply to hold and marvel at. Of the people who didn’t want and could have stopped this by making better choices, I blame, in descending order, RBG, Hillary, and Obama. Joe Biden is up there too

Not just that, but power only actually exists when it's used & applied - I remember a lot of arguments about Obama's "political capital" like it was a finite thing and how he couldn't do this or that because he'd have to spend all of his precious political capital, and they drove me nuts. I don't think pointing at Hillary as "the moment Democrats failed" is particularly useful (even as unlikable as she is) because it's been a long slide with multiple failures, as you point out. One side made it their entire purpose to force their political power on their opponents and to do it no matter the cost, and the other side did little to stop it.

One idea I've been thinking more and more about lately is the idea that voting more Democrats into office will result in better things happening. Sure, it might. Milquetoast centrists might also wreck it all, too. But that idea is overwhelmingly used to stop internal dissent and make excuses for failure. The way I see it is that what the Democrats have now is the best case political scenario they're gonna get going forward - control of the house and slim to bare control of the senate. That's just raw political reality right now. So you either use every broken trick in the book to force your political will through or you get nothing done, and Dems have a strong track record of the latter.

tag yourself, which terrible liberal defense for why biden did bug loving all to stop this are you?

mine is "welp, it was doomed as soon as trump elected 3 people to the court" and "don't worry, we'll just HOLD THE LINE until the next generation magically fixes this."

Yes, that was an unironic argument i got from someone (who literally loving has a job at a university, too!), apparently, instead of fixing our own problems, lets make the new generation have to deal with the problems WE* started instead, just like we did with Literally Every Single War In History. That won't go wrong at all! (*We meaning the person who told me this, who is a generation X-er I believe, not me, the person writing this post. I'm a Millennial, so, you can guess how the rest of this post will go.)

(TW Sexual Assault here on out) Literally count the loving winkles on the faces of the people who invaded the capitol, loving nearly zero I bet you. The next generation is going to grow up poor, sick, weak, afraid, and probably dead or raped, thanks to the decisions of the loving judges and other old assholes who should be loving Logan Runned already. We're going to see "millennials" and whatever they call their children (who will VERY likely be birthed by rape more often than consensual sex. I can not think of a single friend I know who actually has children) become very, VERY radicalized. The streets are going to be filled with them killing each other, not becoming senators who'll get voted out for being left of hitler. I do not look forward to knowing that one of the children playing outside of our apartment right now will grow up to legalize racial segregation.

The only way we can avoid that future from passing? Riot. Stop seeing manchin and his friends as humans. See them as "zombie soldier" and "cacodemon" from Doom. They're no better than literal video game npcs at this point. Only by treating the Enemy as THE ENEMY can we free the next generation from hell. Fact.

It's unreasonable to expect millions upon millions of people to independently overcome their upbringing and education in our lovely late capitalist society and become less lovely/act smarter. If they aren't doing what Dems want, Dems need to change their messaging. It's pure just-world fallacy stuff to expect otherwise, in the same vein as conservatives acting like all crime is just a product of individual moral failings, and not primarily lovely conditions.

Yelling at people to vote hasn't worked so far, and it won't start working now.

As George Carlin said- "If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to have selfish, ignorant leaders."

Voters need to be held accountable. It is not like someone came in and fooled them into voting for something they didn't want. Women's rights just wasn't a priority to the people in 2016, and it still not a priority in 2022 according to polls.

Putting the blame where it belongs. Terrible things don't happen because these inter-dimensional beings pop into our existence and make it so. Terrible things like this happen because that is what people wanted, or didn't care enough to stop.
