:frogsiren:Maplestory has recently been changed in a multitude of ways to make playing for free much more possible. See the second post for more details!:frogsiren:

:siren:Come join us at #maplegoons on SynIRC! link:siren:
In-game or not, we all hang out in the IRC. Come chat or ask questions. Its also the best way to get into the guild
Mumble info is in the guild BBS in-game.

MapleStory is a free-to-play, 2D, sidescrolling MMORPG developed by Nexon (North America). Other games in Nexon's repertoire include Vindictus, Mabinogi, and Dragon Nest.

Most players of MapleStory fondly remember the game as a stereotypical grindfest. It used to take weeks to get to level 30 (second job) and months, if not years, to reach a level in the triple digits. In 2010, however, the entire game changed drastically. Here are a few of the things that happened:

  • Lower experience curve - Second job can be done in an hour, third job in a day. Fourth job can be done in a day if you poopsock, in a week if you're a casual player. Gone are the days of grinding nonstop for 24 hours before leveling up once. See handy Nexon-provided graph.
  • Map redesign - They have completely redesigned all the continents so that you aren't stuck wandering from map to map looking for your particular monster or quest. They have also made town maps much smaller and easier to navigate.
  • New menus/interface - 1366x768 resolution support, new UI.
  • Boss/monster stats and accuracy changes - They have altered the levels and HP of all mobs, changing leveling hot spots and spreading players out among different monsters. There is now a 5% miss penalty for every level below the level of the mob, rendering the accuracy stat (and DEX for warriors) useless.
  • Now less pay2win! Check the second post for more details.

Every content patch since the monumental one (named "Big Bang") has only continued to change and improve the game, such as revamping the crafting system, adding new classes, revamping older ones, and much more. If you have not played MapleStory since before Big Bang -- or never played at all -- now is a great time to join us, punch the poo poo out of some small pixelated animals, and have fun with goons!

Download it here: http://maplestory.nexon.net
:steam:Or, heres the new Steam version! US-only right now, but its got Steam integration which is cool http://store.steampowered.com/app/216150/

Currently, most goons play on the El Nido server. Long promoted as the only East Coast server (as Nexon is located in Los Angeles, CA), it turns out they moved the server back to the West Coast shortly after it came out. Whoops! (Nexon is cool and my friend though, so don't hate.)

As of July 2012, and because it is now located with the other servers, El Nido and 4 other servers (Galicia, Zenith, Arcania, and Demethos) were merged together in a server alliance. This means that, if you played with us in El Nido before and did not like how small and/or empty the server was, it is a great time to come back as you can now interact with 5 servers' worth of people and buy into a 5-server economy. Additionally, if you have characters on these servers from before, you can now come play with goons without giving them up.

Also, GoonSquad is full of KSers and hackers.

:siren: If you were in the OLD GoonSquad (now renamed GoonSquad_E thanks to the alliance), GoonPlatoon, GoonSlice, GoonSwarm, GoonFleet, or (the non-goon-guild) Passion, you need to contact someone to get into the new guild! :siren:

Please note that you need to be online and active (not idle) to get a guild invite, or it will time out/not go through. click this, put #maplegoons in the channel field, and ask for an invite. If no one answers right away, hang out for a few hours or come back at another time and ask again.

Your friends can join too! As long as they are intelligent, sociable, and no goons object. This is something new we're trying for more guild activity. Tell Tree how you feel about this in IRC (you can be mean to Tree, unlike Nexon he's not my friend.).

MapleStory is also notorious for its microtransactions, processed through the Cash Shop and NX currency. Unless you 1) care about how pretty you look, 2) care about how fast you level/how much damage you do, 3) want to get married, 4) want to sell things in the free market, or 5) are too lazy to heal yourself/pick up items/walk, you do not need to invest money into this game.

However, many people find at least one of the above criteria is very important to their gameplay. If you are one of these people, but do not want to actually spend money, you can take surveys on the Nexon website for NX. You can also buy NX items for meso, although there is no official way to trade the two items (yet) so you run the risk of getting ripped off. The most recent events introduced NX clothing items that you can put up for sale in shops, but are untradeable once worn, so you can look for those in the FM if you want to look fancy. Nexon also tends to compensate players with NX when they gently caress up, which is often.

The above is mostly no longer relevant! You still can't get married without paying money, although it's much cheaper now if you are interested. Shops are mostly still limited to those who spend money, but if you need to sell something there's usually a goon with a shop permit who will be willing to help out.

If you do want to spend money, feel free.

The original set of classes, plus Pirates which were added later. They have job advances at 10, 30, 60, and 100, and max out at 250. Explorers can share Cash Shop inventories (if you buy a thing from Cash Shop, you can use it on all Explorer characters). As of the RED update, each explorer class has a Specialized Skill which further enhances their gameplay. In addition, RED introduced the Free Advancement System, which allows 4th job explorers within a meta-class to switch to other 4th job explorer classes within their meta-class. For instance, a Dual Blade could use the Free Advancement system to become a Night Lord. This system can only be used once per day, and it costs a variable amount of mesos each time.

Highest HP, highest defense. Uses melee weapons.

Fighter/Crusader/Hero
This class uses 1H/2H swords or axes. Their specialized skill is Combo Attack, which makes them gain Combo Counters when they attack enemies. They can utilize these Combo Counters to use powerful skills or enhance their damage.

Page/White Knight/Paladin
Paladins use 1H/2H swords or blunt weapons. Paladins have the ability to use elemental attacks, which ties into their specialized skill Elemental Charge. Elemental Charge gives a Paladin improved tanking, damage, healing, and status resist when they use their elemental attacks.

Spearman/Berserker/Dark Knight
Dark Knights use spears or polearms. Their specialized skill allows them to summon a Beholder (not a D&D one, sorry) to heal and buff themselves. They also have a very useful party buff that increases max hp of party members by a large amount.

Medium HP, long ranged attackers.

Hunter/Ranger/Bowmaster
Bowmasters use bows (duh). Their specialized skill is Quiver Cartridge, which allows them imbue their arrows with special properties. Bowmasters attack very quickly. They also have one of the most important party buffs in the game, which raises critical chance and critical damage.

Crossbowman/Sniper/Marksman
Marksmen use crossbows. Their specialized skill is Distancing Sense, which increases either their damage or their critical chance depending on how far away they are from the monster they are attacking. They share a very important party buff with their bow-wielding counterparts.

Medium HP, incredibly high avoidability and mobility.

Assassin/Hermit/Night Lord
Uses claws and throwing stars. Their specialized skill is Mark of the Assassin, which gives every attack a chance to mark enemies. When activated with a second hit, the marks explode into stars which home into nearby enemies. Has a party buff that increases party member's speed and jump.

Bandit/Chief Bandit/Shadower
Uses daggers. Shads are excellent melee fighters, especially now that they have Shadow Partner post-BB (originally an NL-only skill). Their specialized skill is Growing Critical, which causes their critical strike chance to increase over time as well as when they attack. When it reaches 100%, it resets back to the base amount. They share the mobility boosting party buff with Night Lords.

Dual Blade
A Dual Blade is technically an Explorer thief that has strayed from the normal path. Like their name implies, they use two blades; a dagger and a katara. They are limited creation characters.

Low HP but highest MP, good AoE class. All use wands or staves.

Fire & Poison Wizard/Mage/Archmage
Fire and poison elemental attacks. F/Ps' specialized skill is Elemental Drain, which increases their damage for each damage-over-time effect on nearby enemies.

Ice & Lightning Wizard/Mage/Archmage
Ice and lightning elemental attacks. I/Ls' specialized skill is Freezing Effect, which causes monsters hit by their ice spells to accrue counters above their heads. An I/L's maximum critical damage is increased for each counter on a targeted enemy.

Cleric/Priest/Bishop
The support class with holy-based attacks. Everyone wants this class in their party because they provide the only experience-boosting party buff in the game. They also have a multitude of other useful buffs. Their specialized skill is Blessing Ensemble, which increases their damage for each party member buffed by them. They also gain bonus experience for each additional Cleric/Priest/Bishop in the party.

Came out about 3-4 years after the first 4, medium HP.

Gunslinger/Outlaw/Corsair – Corsairs use guns and bullets.Their specialized skill is Summon Crew, which allows them to summon an NPC ally to fight alongside them. In later job advancements, these allies can absorb status effects that would have affected the Corsair.

Brawler/Marauder/Buccaneer
Buccaneers use knuckles. Their specialized skill is Energy Charge, which causes them to gain energy while attacking enemies. When their energy meter is full, it will provide a power-up and slowly drain. While powered-up, some skill will use energy instead of MP and have increased effects.

Cannoneer
Cannoneers use cannons and monkeys. Firing unlimited cannon balls, they have a great range and are very mobile. They have a link skill that provides a small boost to every stat as well as HP and MP. Cannoneers also get bonus inventory slots, making them a great class to use as a mule or merchant. They are limited creation characters.

Jett is a space pirate class, exclusive to GMS. Jett plays very similar to a corsair, shooting guns, with elements of a few other classes thrown in (such as Mercedes). It is a very mobile class. Jett has a link skill that allows you to buff another character on your account at the same time as your Jett. The buff given varies in stat and numeric value.

---

3 of the 5 Cygnus Knight classes have been revamped; the Dawn Warrior, Thunder Breaker, and Wind Archer. These classes behave like most other classes, for the most part. However, Blaze Wizards and Knight Walkers cap at level 120, so those aren't very attractive characters at the moment. Additionally, Cygnus Knight characters provide the other characters on your account an improved version of Blessing of the Fairy depending on their level.

Dawn Warrior
Dawn Warriors use 2-handed swords. This class is based around a stance system.

Thunder Breaker
Thunder Breakers use knuckles. This class can combo some of their attacks after one another with no delay, and doing so gives them buffs that allow them to deal more damage.

Wind Archer
Wind Archers use bows. They shoot arrows or something, I dunno.

Blaze Wizard
Blaze Wizards primary attack is called "Orbital Flame". It can be shot up, down, left, or right, and it will fly out and then return to you. They will hit enemies for a second time on the way back if they have not yet reached the cap of monsters hit per cast. You can have more on the map at once as you get to higher levels (2 in 2nd job, 3 in 3rd, 4 in 4th).

Mihile
Mihiles use 1-handed swords. This class came out before the Cygnus revamps happened, and thus plays similar to the old Dawn Warrior in early jobs. Later jobs, they get lasers. Lots of lasers. They are limited creation characters.
---

These classes have backstories explaining their origins as Heroes of the Maple World way back when the Black Mage was threatening to end the existence of all life. For whatever reason, they've managed to revive themselves into the current world today.

Mercedes
Mercedes is an elf who uses dual bowguns and unlimited magic arrows to attack. She is focused on mobility and crowd control. At later levels she can attack people with unicorns, and has great sustainability from a beginner. After level 70, you gain a link skill which grants a 10% experience bonus to another character on your account.
They are limited creation characters.

Aran
Aran is a warrior who wields a polearm and uses combos to deal damage. Their job advancements are at the same levels as Adventurers. They are limited creation characters.

Evan
Evan is a magician who casts spells indirectly through a dragon. The spells have different elements, although the end-game spell is fire-based. Their advancements are very different from regular Adventurers; they have one at levels 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100, 120, and 160. They are the only class other than Bishop with the ability to resurrect other players, although the skill required is not obtainable until the final advancement. Evan requires NX to buy 2 of its skill books, so if you are absolutely opposed to spending money on the game, or doing surveys online for free NX, this is not the class for you. They are limited creation characters.

Phantom
Phantom is a thief-based melee class with new weapons. Phantom uses a cane to attack and cards as its subequip. The Phantom class is most known for its ability to swipe skills from other characters (with restrictions). Only active skills can be swiped, and only Explorer classes can have their skills swiped. Phantom also has a self-resurrect skill, on top of being able to steal Bishops resurrect. They are limited creation characters.

Recommended skills to steal
First Job (4 max): Haste, Magic Guard, Magic Armor, Dark Sight
Second Job (4 max): Rage, Hyper Body, Charma,
Third Job (3 max): :siren:Holy Symbol:siren:, Combo Attack, Dispell
Fourth Job (2 max): Sharp Eyes, Rapid Fire (only if Impeccable Memory is maxed), Cross Over Chains

Luminous
A mage that uses a combination of Light and Dark powers. In other versions you need to balance your use of both, but in GMS its dumbed down to using whatever you want. Has voice acting. They are limited creation characters.

Shade
A 6th hero whose existence was erased from history as the cost of the spell used to seal the Black Mage. Uses knuckles, and fights by channeling the guardian spirits of some weird animal people from another planet (dimension???).
---

Nova Classes
Nova classes are basically Dragon-people from another dimension. They have horrible voice acting and will occasionally yell the names of skills when they're used.

Kaiser
Kaiser uses two-handed swords, but attacks very quickly regardless. It has great range and HP, along with doing lots of damage, making it a good tanky class. Also has a transformation mode that charges up through attacking, and turns you into a larger, glowing, armoured dragon knight that does ridiculous damage. Good all around class. They are limited creation characters.

Angelic Burster
Everyones favourite anime pop idol! This is a pirate class that uses "Soul Shooters". Has a wide variety of skills and a "recharge" system that limits skill spamming. Female-only.They are limited creation characters.

---

Resistance

This group of classes originates from a steampunk-esque town obsessed with driving an evil organization called the Black Wings out of their area.

Mechanic
A pirate that rides around in a gigantic robot suit, uses guns with no bullets, and transforms into a tank to shoot gigantic lasers.

Battle Mage
A magician that uses fast-speed staves to do melee damage. Think of the old school “STR mage” build except in a legit class. They can be very strong, very flashy, and are often sought after in parties for their damage-boosting auras.

Wild Hunter
A crossbowman that rides around on and attacks from a jaguar. They have some of the highest mobility in the game and can do solid damage with a skill very similar to BMs. Their jaguars can also eat and summon monsters. They have the same party buff as Adventurer archers.

Demon Slayer
A very agile, but beefy character who relies on his health and “force” instead of mana. Force is replenished by the souls of dead monsters. He uses one handed axes and blunt weapons. His link skill at level 70 gives extra boss damage to another character. They are limited creation characters.

Demon Avenger
An alternate version of Demon Slayer. This class uses HP as its primary stat, and also as the resource for its skills. Continuous use of their skills will cause them to enter an overdrive of sorts, where their skills will cost more HP but do more damage. They are limited creation characters.

Xenon
Xenon is a thief/pirate hybrid with 3 mainstats: STR, DEX, and LUK. He gains bonuses for getting each stat to certain thresholds. Some of his skills have a function called Modal Shift; essentially, there are 3 versions of those skills that you can switch between at will. Xenon can also fire rockets and fly. Beep boop, I am a robot.

---

Sengoku classes
These are previously JMS-only classes, and as such are themed around Japan. Art style for the skills is also great, traditional Japanese style. Both start with what is essentially an ultimate skill.

Kanna
A shrine maiden with a fox spirit familiar. Mage class, uses Fans as a weapon. Has a skill that boosts the amount of monsters on the map at one time (as you can probably deduce, more monsters=more exp!). They are limited creation characters.

Hayato
A warrior class using Katanas. Fast attacks and good range. They are limited creation characters. Katanas may or may not be made of GENUINE HANZO STEEL

---

Miscellaneous Classes
These classes are one-and-done, so-to-speak.

Beast Tamer
A mage class that has 4 different skill trees instead of job advancements(well, not really trees. There aren't any branches, each one is just straight down). Uses Scepters (no, not the same weapon you get when you job advance as a Demon Slayer), and can switch between it's animal modes (the aforementioned skill trees) at will. The 4 different animals are Bear, Leopard, Bird, and Cat. You can only max 2 of the 4 skill trees, choose wisely. The bear has fire farts, and the cat has an exp boosting skill and some great party buffs. That's about all you need to know.

Zero
A special warrior class that starts at level 100. Zero is trapped in an alternate dimension for story reasons until its quests are completed at level 180; don't worry, though, because the quests are great exp and a fun read. Has many convenient features, such as free weapons, and cubes for those weapons, virtually free mastery books, and easy profession leveling. Uses a unique resource called Time Force, and allows you to play two different characters at once with the Tag system. It's pretty cool.

So, you might have played Maplestory in the past and been turned off by its pay2win nature. In today's Maple, though, there are lots of ways to improve your gear and earn meso without spending real money. Here are some of the biggest changes that have been made:
  • Elite Monsters and Elite Bosses: When you kill enough mobs in a map that is not too far above or below your level, you will spawn an Elite Monster. They spawn with a prefix that gives them a special ability; for instance, they might seal your skills, or maybe they'll boost their own defense. Elite Monsters will give you a message on death about how there's a grim feeling in the air, and once you've killed enough of them on the same map the message will change to say that "You feel something in the dark energy..." This is a signal that tells you an Elite Boss will spawn soon. An Elite Boss is created from one of 5 templates, each based on a primary class (Warrior, Archer, etc.), and a few of the same prefixes that appear on Elite Monsters. When an Elite Boss is killed, a bonus stage will be activated. There are 3 kinds of bonus stages: bubbles may rain down from the sky across the map, bubbles may be dropped in a random pattern by flying monsters, or there may be treasure chest mobs that spit out bubbles when you whack them with a normal attack. You can get some cool stuff from these bonus stages, and especially from green bubbles that uncommonly drop. When you collect a green bubble, you get a rare item, like a tradeable no-boom Clean Slate Scroll 10% or a Golden Hammer 50%. There are a bunch of different things you can get, but you can only pick up 3 green bubbles per bonus stage so don't get too greedy.

  • Spell Traces: Spell traces are a common drop from all monsters and a common award from many events that can be used to scroll any item, regardless of type or level. The amount of Spell Traces needed and amount of stats given vary by item level, but there is never a chance to boom equips while scrolling with Spell Traces. The stat gains are much better than traditional scrolls, and are around on par with the most expensive event scrolls in the game.

  • Star Force Enhancement: The equip enhancement system has been massively overhauled, and you no longer use enhancement scrolls to enhance equipment. Gone with enhancement scrolls are the high chances of booming your equipment; instead of destruction, equips below the safe limit (12 stars) will drop a rank on failure. All you need to enhance an item in this new system is the equip to have 0 slots and an amount of mesos scaling with equip level and number of enhancements passed. Enhancements now give fixed stats: 2 all stat each star for the first 5 stars, and 3 all stat per star for stars 6-15. The attack given by enhancements still scales with the amount of attack already on the weapon.

  • Maple Rewards Shop: This is the big one! The Maple Rewards Shop is a section of the Cash shop that lets you buy a limited amount of cash items (the limit is reset monthly) with an in-game currency known as Reward Points. You can earn Reward Points a few ways, but the two most basic ways involve either killing bosses like Zakum or Von Leon, or playing minigames in Star Planet, which is a new area which contains minigames from past events. The minigames include, but are not limited to, Maplestory's version of Uno, Maplestory's version of Monopoly, and Yut. You can earn 1500 reward points a day through Star Planet and 3000 reward points a day through bosses and miscellaneous source (such as events). Things you can buy:
    • 2 of all the Cash Shop scrolls, that means Shield Scrolls (white scrolls), Shielding Wards, and others!
    • 2 Vicious Hammers!
    • :siren:5 Red Cubes and 5 Black Cubes!:siren:
    • Pets! And speaking of pets, all pet equips have been replaced by equivalent pet skills that serve the same function and are permanent. They are also much cheaper now! And in addition, all pets come with the autoloot skill, even the ones from the Reward Shop or events!
    • 2 1-day auto venders!
    • Water of Life, in case you want to revive and old pet and not get a new one!
    • Scissors of Karma and Platinum Scissors of Karma, for selling old gear!
To reiterate, the limit is reset monthly!

  • Cube drops from bosses: As of March 2015, Nexon has greatly increased the rate at which bosses drop Master Craftsmen and Meister cubes! These are roughly analogous to the Miracle Cubes and Super Cubes of old, respectively. Even the easy bosses like normal Zakum or Ranmaru drop cubes; it's not just the ones you need to spend money to kill! It's now rare that I go a day of killing bosses without seeing a cube drop or two, which is a welcome change from how it used to be.

  • Owls of Minerva: Owls of Minerva used to be a Cash Shop only item that could be used to search through the Free Market. Now you can buy unlimited amounts of them for 10k mesos each! They are available from most general stores.

They completely revamped mastery books with RED. There's a shop where you can buy a Book 20 or a Book 30, that you then use to get a 100% book for a skill of your choice (Including Maple Warrior). Jetts were rolled into explorers (they share cash inventories now, etc) and so I imagine their books will be available as well.

Empress crap is still good, but the BEST stuff is the Root Abyss set, aka a Fafnir weapon and the special RA hat/top/bottom. The rest of the slots get filled with ridiculously expensive Tyrant items, that are really loving good but really hard to get a hold of.

I would also add http://ayumilove.net/ to the list of other websites above. I generally find her class guides to be way better than the ones on Basil, which aren't really all that updated themselves for most classes.

Dawn Warriors use 2-handed swords. This class is based around a stance system. NEED MORE INFO

I've had fun with my Dawn Warrior. Basically throughout the job advancements you get different stances based on the sun and moon. You can switch between them and they will alter the colour and function of your attacks in a minor way. For instance, the moon stance will make your attack blue and hit many more times, whereas the sun stance will make your attack orange and bring its speed up. I haven't levelled to the fourth job advancement yet but I think it has a balance stance between the two.

Not just balanced, but flat out stacked. Full benefit from both stances, and it switches between the attacks for both stances after every attack, which works great for the 4th job skill. There's also a skill that enhances the effectiveness of both stances, and then a hyper skill to boost them even more.

Moon Stance gives you double the number of hits at -60% damage, but ups your critical rate by about about 40%.
Sun Stance gives you +50% damage and a 2 stage boost to attack speed.

Also, stances change the way all of your attacks work. The second job has a fun skill that acts as either a monster magnet, or rush move, which is fun to watch if you have the before mentioned boost skill up since the enemies cycle between being shoved back and forth.

Been playing this game on and off since 2005, and it's weird to see how much it's changed (and how much more fun it is now that I can get a character past level 40 in a couple days rather than a few months without becoming bored). So the majority of goons are on Nido, right? I've been server hopping a lot because everyone I used to play with ended up quitting years ago and I got real tired of Scania after that, so it would be cool to finally have a server where I'll have more than a few buddies.

Also, did Nexon recently update their word filter or something? I deleted a character of mine today in hopes of remaking him on a different account and now it's telling me that I'm not allowed to use the name despite it being fine in the past (and no, it has no hidden curses or anything as far as I'm aware).

Horizontal Tree

IIRC it takes a month before the name becomes available. I'm sure someone else can clarify. And yes, the goon group and I think all of us are on El Nido, but previous to RED nobody was really active. I can't say about now that the patch is out, as I've been inactive for quite a while. Ill probably be back to check out the adventurer updates, though. Might be a reason to play my Shad and NL some more. And maybe acknowledge the existence of my Bowmaster...

Did they really change that? It used to be instant.

I'm trying out xenon at the moment. Checked out my bowmaster, but the only thing preventing me from diving more into that is that there is a problem with double jump and my gamepad (other character's double jump works perfectly, such as AB and xenon). So frustrating.

I haven't played this in literally years, what the hell does a limited creation character mean?

It means that you can only create that class when it's available. Since there are so many classes, they (usually) aren't all available at once. However, in celebration of the winter update, all classes are currently unlocked.

I believe it means a class (one of the newer ones, naturally) that you're only allowed to make for a certain period of time - if you don't get to do so and miss that timeframe, you have to wait until Nexon allows people to make new characters of that specific class again (such as when a new event or patch rolls around), whenever that may be. So anything that's not a Cygnus (sans Mihile), Explorer, or Resistance class, basically.

Edit: I'm glad that I'm finally able to create a Cannoneer; I'm having fun so far, but man do I ever miss playing as one of the more immediately highly mobile classes like Jett and Kaiser.

Okay comparing the list on the OP with the one in the game, it seems like you missed the Xenon class or something like that. What's that all about?

Overlooked in a sea of character classes. I'm sure he'll sort it out eventually.

TLDR about xenon is he uses 3 stats not just 1, is a hybrid pirate/thief class, he uses blades that are actually whips that retract into the shape of a blade, he has a changeable moveset, so some skills you can actually pick between a few different attacks, and he has his own underground base with travel system (so like phantom only cooler). Also the intro for him is hilarious.

What is the current super overpowered class for the game? Xenon? Wind archer? I heard about both being amaze balls past even Kaiser a few months ago but never got into them.

The most OP class will be Zero when it comes out in a week or two.

Can we only get a certain amount of red coins from frozen boxes? I started with about 1k, quickly got to 20 coins, and then haven't gotten any other coins for the past few hundred. Given the price of red items, I was hoping for a bit better return there.

I just did a fairly sizeable inactives purge. If I hit one of your actives accidentally, come yell at me on irc and we'll re-add you.

Awesome beer, no pants.
Join the Legion.
Woah this game looks so different than when I played haha.
If I feel like giving it a try (mainly because I'm bored of dota2) which are the classes that are straight up the most fun (don't care about overpowered)? I probably only played the base adventurers back in the day.

Fun is based largely on preference. There isn't too much variation outside of the special classes behind deciding what you want to hit monsters with. Pick a class that looks cool to you.

Luminous is pretty simple and fun. His gimmick is simple but adds enough variety to make it cool. He's also pretty much the only class that has 2 useful attacking skills at any given moment. (Light and Dark)

All of his skills do something, and you won't find yourself using the same skill for 50 levels.
As his job level goes up, his new job skills are all much more different than for other classes. For example, I think Assassins still basically just throw stars forever. When you advance your job, you throw 1 more star per skill click and each star does a bit more damage.

Not to say Sins aren't fun, they're just not as varied as Luminous.

Well, looks like it's time to fire this game back up after not playing for a few months. Again.

I still have a soft spot for the Marksman, so I'll roll with that character (Liritisse) for now.

Otherwise, I might roll up a Demon Avenger or Kanna, assuming I still can.

Demon Slayer is awesome because it can hop around and poo poo and also has 100% stance so it never gets knocked back.

Avenger might have the same thing?

DA works slightly differently, but they're still pretty great fun.

Kaiser is really fun and definitely my favorite class overall (I've played almost every one, granted I didn't reach 4th job on most of them), if you wanna give it a shot.

I'm really enjoying thunder breaker. I'm only 2nd job right now but I have three skills I use - one of which is a charge and one of which teleports to the nearest enemy, so i zoom all over the place and it is quite fun. Cygnuses also provide a big boost to alts, too. Gonna try out more characters once I get sick of thunder breaker, though.

Also, did Nexon recently update their word filter or something? I deleted a character of mine today in hopes of remaking him on a different account and now it's telling me that I'm not allowed to use the name despite it being fine in the past (and no, it has no hidden curses or anything as far as I'm aware).

There are a few words that are blocked in names, but not blocked in general chat. I know that this includes the words Maple and God, but there are probably others I don't know.

So, do we not have any new players joining up. :( I want to exploit them for this crew event, of which I have 0 crew members. And, you know, I'll be very supportive by encouraging them to make it to level 100 . . . encouragement through lashings of harsh words.
