Mithra and Girimehkala have it innately, yeah, and they're more than obtainable by here (I wouldn't use Girimehkala though :v:). Being a little overlevelled lets you have the Femme demon in Feinne's tag which has it both innately and, after grinding it to an even higher level, as a transferable skill.

Getting that overlevelled by this map takes some doing though, because the free battles still have like Aniels and poo poo in 'em which are completely worthless to fight at this stage.

I'm not really sure where the hair hands are coming from on that Tzitzimitl beyond stylizing the hell out of some artwork of them. Believe it or not the rest of the depiction makes 100% sense given their feminine entities associated with the stars and fertility.

KNEEL BEFORE THE WICKED KING!
...Obvious Decoys

Yada, yada, requisite fusion time. You're getting the idea by now I'm sure.

We'll start off with the oddly weak-to-Electricity Sleipnir (Kartikeya & Baihu), first off. Odin's horse being weak to Odin makes sense in some ways but not very many others.

Ah well, he's fast and hits dudes pretty hardish. Plus he has Devil Flash so he makes a good mount for dashing around the map in a hurry.

Hey, it's Lugh (Arioch + Seiryuu). Hi Lugh! Not much to say about this guy; he could be made either punchy or spellcaster by default since they start at 22 each. Punchy is easier to make and works better with his innate Phys Amp too.

And lastly, we have Yoshitsune. Not quite as impressive as his Persona 4 counterpart, Yoshi here can only be made from Osiris & Take-Mikazuchi which makes getting a good one quite problematic. Could've given more defences but that takes more effort than I would have cared for. At least his Agility and Strength are pretty nice, so Multi-Strike was a no brainer for his only free skill slot.

Now, where were we? Ah, yes. Convincing people to join our party. Let's see what Ronaldo's guys over at Nagoya are up to.

[Music: Countdown]

Ah, Hibiki! Perfect timing... we were about to call you?
Did something happen?

...Man this couldn't be more obvious if it tried. Really would only work on Daichi. Welp, since we'll be dragged into it anyway let's just jump straight in.

I don't sense Benetnasch, but Daichi Shijima seems unable to calm himself.
We have to find her.
Uh, yeah! Okay, let's split up and look for her...
Hm-hmm! That girl gets in so much trouble... That's why I told her to stay with me!
...Ah! H-Hey, wait a sec! Look!

[Music: Dark Clouds]

Whoa... there she is! That's Airi, right!? Ummm...
Let's go after her!
R-Right...!

Over here!

Oh no, it was a trap all along.

I did not see this coming.

Airi... and Otome! Wait... what's going on!?

[Music: Crumbling Routine]

Um, it's part of our plan. We lure you out here and beat you.
Wh-What!? You led us intro a trap!? But we were worried about you...!

In any case... Let's have a fair fight so none of us have any regrets, okay?
No...! Wait a moment, are you really... um... thinking about fighting us...?

Ngh... and when you say "dream", you mean...?
They believe in equality.

[Music: Elegy]

That's right!
I mean, you must understand already! We joined Ronaldo to create a world of equality!
That's no good...! That makes you no different from Yamato! Calm down and think about it!
We're completely different! His system preys on the the weak so the strong prosper!

There will be no more selfishness!
If everyone is working to help everyone else, it can only lead to happiness!
Their intent is beside the point. They oppose Yamato, but they still follow Polaris.

We don't want to fight with our former comrades, either. But you won't help us, right?
And... seeing that you've gained more assets, it means you're planning to fight, too.
What... No, we're not here to fight! We only came here after a lot of thinking!
Will you at least listen to us!? We can't rely on Polaris to make peace for us!
Stop making excuses! If you're planning to fight anyway, you're like Yamato!

[Music: Countdown]

It's no use, Hibiki. This is nothing more than childish stubbornness!
They're not going to listen... This my sound harsh, but it's time for some punishment...!
Hinako Kujou is absolutely correct. It would be faster to shatter their ideals. Come.

[Music: Confrontation]

So, this map is I guess technically harder than the previous one. If only because it has enough dudes in it to make it impossible to run around the entire map and wipe them all out before they can move.

Functionally, it's easier on the whole. There's actual curve balls in enemy team compositions here that make it a little tricker, at least compared to the average enemy team, but Airi is not one of them. She presents no threat at all.

At first glance, Otome is much the same, if not less of a threat (Airi at least has Megido). Sure, she repels Physicals and can't be Debilitated but beyond that and her Endure/Mediarahan stuff she's more of a chore than anything else.

This is still kind of true when you factor in her demons, but Recarmloss is not just for show even if using it is almost always the wrong move.

There's also a lot of cracks as per usual. Though, here the hardest question is do I want Samarecarm or the Mediarahan/Amrita combo.

Since no humans have died yet, and I don't plan on that changing anytime soon, I opted for Prayer.

Also those demons you might not recognise at first? Remiel (the second best Divine demon) and Parvati (the fourth best Megami demon). They both require level 59.

There is only one Remiel and only one Parvati. They are in Otome's team.

[Music: Decisive Battle With A Sworn Friend]

Sadly this isn't a onehit kill because Parvati has Endure. Of course she does.

If she didn't, Otome would probably be Overwhelmable without any issues.

Instead, Tzitzimitl gets to Holy Dance and the dice loved me here.

Hit Parvati once, Otome once and Remiel twice.

Three cracks down just like that.

Sadly, Hibiki didn't roll a 4-hitter. Only 2; 3 would've left Otome with 1 hit point because of Endure.

Have I mentioned that I don't like Endure recently?

Because I don't. Let's take my annoyance at the failure to beat Otome down in one go out on this guy.

Fun fact: this guy has Ban Elec. This actively hinders him, because Vivians drain Elec by default.

I thought that was a weird choice at least. Oh, and Otome didn't use Recarmloss for whatever reason. Just healed herself.

She even runs back here so outside of my Evil Wave shenanigans, she would've been completely free to do so and heal up afterwards.

Instead, I get to luckily freeze her with Python's Bufudyne. I was aiming to just drain her MP so she couldn't revive Remiel and Parvati just in case.

Instead, I get to wipe out the root instead of the symptom. Endure doesn't do poo poo if you're frozen. :v:

That's one down, so let's take out Airi next. I am slowly advancing with the others, but Hibiki's taking point since he can meatshield for them.

That Anzu could maybe sort of make Airi credible if she used Culebre effectively.

Culebre's the next Dragon. He's kinda poo poo, especially for the follow-up act to Python, but hey Evil Flow. Airi doesn't take advantage of it.

So she drops rather unceremoniously. Not much to be said here.

Although, she does push Hibiki up to 40 magic so there's that at least.

With those two out of the way, we can start finishing off their little weird congregation in the middle.

We'll start with this guy, since I can just point Kartikeya at him.

I like pointing Kartikeya at things. He's kind of the current "I win" button. Nothing has survived one Multi-Strike from him yet.

Hey look, this lady has a Dragon and is trying to fight Fumi. I wonder what the result of this will be?

Did I mention that Kartikeya's big thing is his nuts good Agility? Because he moved before any of this ladies team. Even with the initiative penalty.

HP Up+ (and MP Up+ which we don't have yet) is kind of a weird niche Add-On. If we somehow had a thing to 40 Vitality but decided we wanted more HP on it without using a passive slot could slap this on it.

I have never had that happen, because it's just that niche. I guess maybe if you were to do some fusion tricks it might be worthwhile but those are really egregiously stupid and circular right now.

Hey look this guy has a Vile!

...wait poo poo this guy has a vile

Oh balls, it's Arioch. Anzu's Hassohappa got reflected back in his face and kinda made things easier.

..The same cannot be said for Deathbound. Arioch why do you not have Pierce.

Tzitzimitl would've collapsed here either way. The crit is just rubbing salt in the wound.

Since Hibiki's use as a meat shield has just met its rather cruel and unceremonious end, we'll start throwing other solutions at these problems.

Hinako et al. is nice and effecient but they could be better.

I didn't want to do this, guy. You forced my hand. Time to unleash the Jungo.

Thankfully, Arioch only has Null Physical. Lugh has Pierce. Lugh wins this round.

Ariochs are also cripplingly weak to fire spells.

And Salarymen are cripplingly weak to having Jungo punch them in the face.

So, now we just have this lady. She used a Yaksa's agitate but it doesn't really matter at this point.

Three fast peeps that are good at combining it with punching. She didn't really stand a chance, guaranteed crit or not.

So, also not a particularly challenging map. Nothing as seemingly dangerous as Keita on the previous one, but they did more damage overall just by sheer virtue of being able to outrange me at one point.

And having more dudes. That didn't help either.

[Music: Connected Hearts]

That was easy.
How tough ARE you!? I'm all worn out... Well, at least we won.
You got that right... I'm sure they took a few lumps, but it didn't seem that serious.

Where could he be?
There's no knowing as of yet. Odd that he's not in Nagoya, the base of their operations.
Mmm-hmmm. If he's not here, there's no telling where we'll find him...

...A wise course of action. Let us leave those in Nagoya aside for the time being.
What's important now, Shining One, is to enlist the humans we fought a moment ago.

You leave the area, still talking with everyone...

That done, let's go collect these two and try to figure out what to do about Benetnasch.

Whew... Ah, hello there, Hibiki.
Hey.
Haha... How strange. We were fighting tooth and nail with each other a moment ago.

But I couldn't accomplish it on my own steam...
Is equality the only peace?
...I don't know. Equality certainly seemed like the easiest way.
I don't care what happens to me, but when I think about the children and their future...

At any cost?
...You're right. I wanted to secure their future even if it meant fighting my friends.

It would only happen again.
I...! No... Then what do you suggest?
Start over from scratch.
From scratch...? Don't tell me you mean to create a new world by defeating Polaris?!?
But... will your new world really be better than this one? There's no guarantee...
It all depends on us.

Hahaha, you're amazing. Neither Yamato nor Ronaldo could have come up with such a bold plan.
Lend me your strength.

[Music: Over the Brink of Death]

...Yes. I will join you.
I'm sure your path is the right one. You can lead us toward a bright future.
That I will.

Well, I should go prepare myself and tell everyone the news. See you later, then?

You say your farewells to Otome before leaving...

Much like Keita, Airi isn't quite at the minimum needed so her scene plays out somewhat differently.

At least in her case it was a lot closer. She was already at 3, so it could've happened if we had a little more time.

[Music: Connected Hearts]

Ah...! Hibiki!?
How are your wounds?
Wounds? Th-They're fine! I'm totally fine!
Anyway, what do you want!? I'm the enemy!
...Or did you come to make fun of the loser!?
You mad?
I'm NOT MAD! I mean...!

So equality is good?
O-Of course it is! There'd be no favortism... Everyone would have a chance!
Well, I dunno... Maybe you're right...
Hey, Hibiki... Is there something I'm overlooking?
You've given up.
I haven't given--! *sigh*

I... really just wanted this to end with everyone getting along and laughing together...
Maybe that seemed too hard, so I ran away from the path I really wanted to take.
...Can you tell me something, Hibiki?
What are you trying to do with that weird guy?
Start over from scratch.
From scratch!? Wait, so you're not changing this world? You're starting a completely new one!?
B-But... Even if you create a new world, how are you gonna run it?
I won't run it.

Ha... Haha, you're something else, man. Like... on a whole other level than us.
What should I do...? Can a scrub like me really help with something that big?
I need your help.

[Music: In the Devastated Town]

I'm sorry. I don't think I can...

I'll be pulling for you to win! So...
Don't die, okay? I really want to see you again someday.
It's a promise.
...Alrighty. Well, see you, Hibiki.

So, yeah. Airi didn't join back up with us either. Ah well, can't quite win 'em all.

[Music: Exploration]

and uh wait whats this whats going on

This seems rather unsually placed, doesn't it?

...That's because it is. This does not happen here. It actually already happened a short while back; when we got Io back in the party, she hit Fate 5 from her re-recruitment scene. Thing is, I was sitting on this screen for when we finished her Fate scenes just so it would have more meaning.

Unfortunately, we can't do that now. She has one left, but it requires both Airi and Hinako in the party to happen. Kinda was hoping it'd happen regardless, but no dice.

I still would've sat on it and not posted it until we legitimately finished all of her scenes, but... Fate 5's reward in this case is worth cheating my own little prefered system a bit.

Fate 5, much like Fate 3, brings with us a demon. Titania here is special. Very special. She requires level 58 to fuse which we have. I'm taking my Vivian, an Erthys I made off-screen a while back and that Phys Set and combining them to make Titania.

Why, hello there Queen of the Fairies. With your 40 magic, your Holy Dance/Drain combo and, oh what's that you have there? Why of course. It's your functional invincibility.

Nothing but Almighty stuff can hurt Titania. By default she is Weak to Physicals, neutral to curse and nullifies everything else. Null Curse is easy to get on (I slipped it onto Erthys via 2x Orobas since they have it by default) and Phys Repel came from the Set.

Had to be Repel because, y'know, Pierce gets through Null and Drain.

Titania isn't the only demon we can do this to, but she is the first and one of the easiest. I can think of at last 4 others offhand that we can do this to (the SMT wiki claims there are only 3 total but that's complete bollocks). Out of the ones we'll be getting this time around? Probably just one more, though. 2 of them require a lot of grinding. The third requires a lot of grinding and a Fate 5 that, sadly, we won't be getting this time around.

We'll put Titania through her paces later. For now, we have to go figure out how we're going to be allowed to beat Benetnasch.

Ooh, it's Hibiki. I bet you're going to ask me for a favor again.
Bingo.
Haha, I thought as much. It's okay. I'm quite used to it by now.
All right, then... Out with it. Though I'm sure I can guess.

We can't summon anything.

And it sends back our demons, preventing more from being summoned... This is a poser.
How can we stop it?
...You ask that without any concrete data? All I can give you is speculation.

[Music: Connected Hearts]

First... summoning spells can be digitized and kept in devices like cellphones.
Second... they can transmit over long distances for things like phone calls or email.
We take these two data points and ask what the terminal and receiver have in common...

I see.
Indeed. If I were to use an example...
With normal phones, you access websites through radio waves, right?
The way the summoning app works is similar in that it involves the special waves.

It's like it's hacking the summoning app's special waves to hijack our communications.
That way, it can return our summoned demons and cancel our summons at will.
Can we block it?

This won't be that easy. We're up against the unknown. There's no ready-made solution.
Rare waves...
Right... It's a hard one. Rare waves... All I can think to use would be demons.
There are some demons that can use special waves.
Such as?

That's worth trying.
You really want to try this? Well, if we use him...
It could obstruct Benny's signal... or basically jam it. We might have a chance.
Oh, but there's a slight problem.

I'll try to find it.
...Well, let me know if you have any luck. I'll try to do what I can

You say your farewells to Fumi before leaving...

Well, finding the information is easy enough. We just go to Osaka and beat it out of him.

Or, uh, we just go to Osaka and... I don't know what. Kinda expected that to be Yamato there, not Saiduq.

[Music: Exploration]

Ah, Shining One. Are you perhaps here to look into this demon called Trumpeter?
That's right.
I thought so. Don't worry, I've discovered the demon in question's location.

Saiduq hands you a folder of documents...

Take a look at these. The name Trumpeter appears near the end.

Awesome.
"Awesome" indeed. Now then, this seems to be the code. You should take it with you.
...There is a catch, though. Using Trumpeter presents its own problems.
Problems?

[Music: Dark Clouds]

His sound waves spread out wide and slow, but sure... they will affect the entire area.
We will be no exception.
Our app won't work?
Yes, that is correct. It is unavoidable, I'm afraid.
We will be unable to summon demons through our summoning app.

If this defect can be ignored, Trumpeter may indeed be effective against Benetnasch.
It is something of a double-edged sword for us... We must plan for this, Shining One.

You say your farewells to Saiduq before leaving...

Alright, so our solution to this problem is basically just a countersong. But from one of the seven trumpets that bring forth the Apocalypse.

...He's a bit late to the party, but our plan is perfectly fitting all the same.

Unkillable: You Can Call Me Al, Part Five- The Puerile Ruse

It's funny that Dragonatrix came way closer to losing someone on this map than the one vs Osaka, because this map is in theory a lot easier. There's not much on here that's individually threatening, just don't let yourself get overwhelmed by numbers. Also, it never hurts to have someone somewhere with Recarm to get your demons back up when things come to that. Otherwise there's just not much to this map, there's no specific team that's terrible and while there are some strong individual demons nothing should really give you trouble with the sort of poo poo you can have at this point in the game. And if you've gotten this far Unkillable, it's pretty much a guarantee you've got said crazy poo poo. Don't worry, the game's got plenty of rear end in a top hat poo poo left in store for later.

Oh and are we discussing invulnerable Titania finally?

It's actually really easy to get a good Titania, because you can use Rank Ups on Fairies. I actually used components that had Phys Repel, which let me use a Release Command on her to ditch her starting skills and go full offense. Hero Soul is an absolutely amazing skill for a full invulnerable demon, because it redirects any single target hit which would hit the party leader where the demon is more resistant to that form of attack. So yes, Hero Soul on this Titania means that the MC can only be hit by almighty and multi-target attacks.

I can respect Drain/Holy Dance as a pairing, but I prefer to leave that for the other half of the pairing.

Technically anything with only three elements of vulnerability can be at least ghetto immune to all (since it may or may not actually get repel phys). But looking at things, it's Titania, Ghost Mirror, Baal, Metatron, Nebiros, and Satan at the minimum, as all of those have at most three unpatched points of vulnerability. Some of those require a Release Passive, though. But yeah at least six.

That second one is where most people get the idea, since like Titania it only has two spots to patch but unlike Titania they need to be patched since they're both weaknesses. If you're like me, you'll patch Titania's Phys weakness and think you don't need to do anything else because the computer never uses Curse skills. :downs:

That second one requires Release Command so drat bad, though, it's command skills are utter poo poo.

I figure the "four" in question are Titania, Purple Mirror, Metatron, and Nebiros, since those are the four that don't need Release Passive. Also, technically, you could become functionally invincible with Satan and Release Passive like you said, but I'm of the mindset that having Anti-Almighty is far better on a demon than patching up a non-weakness to Curse. I think the only Curse skills that do anything to worry about are Charm-inducing skills and +Stone. Judgement will never actually kill you and the CPU never has the awareness to properly use Death Call (assuming they even carry it).

I have a minor quibble with counting Nebiros, honestly. Course by the time they're actually available, that'll just be a minor inconvenience, but the same can be said of Beelzebub which is who I'd rather use at that point.

That's a pretty good reward for Fate 5.

Are we just not going to confront the two big bads on this path? I imagine once we take a run at the Septentrione they'll pop up.

We'll deal with them when the time comes. This path has to kind of reshuffle some things because a fight that would normally happen on the last day can't, so one of them is going to be taking the place of the penultimate enemy.

One of my favourite things of all SMT games is the fusion. It's nice being able to come up with horrifcally strong combinations of stuff and just go to town. And sometimes the game realises this and basically throws you into situations where you need to pull out all the stops and it still manages to surprise you with a nasty trick. Usually the optional things, but this path has some nasty surprises at times too. It's kind of rough to go this route the first time playing.

KNEEL BEFORE THE WICKED KING!
...Sounding The Seventh Trumpet

We already made Titania for level 58, but we've got a couple more to make first. One of which is especially useful.

Rangda (Yaksa & Kartikeya), our next Femme, looks a bit eccentric but is very good at punching thigs for a Femme.

Oh and she has Phys Repel by default, but unlocking it as a skill on her takes a long while to get because its level dependant.

And since I'm remembering to use Add-Ons lately, I opted to give Rangda Deathbound via fusion. Since I did that, I also threw on the Vitality +3 because I'd never use it otherwise. Gives her more HP, defense and makes Deathbound hit a bit harder.

Second and last is Cerberus (Rangda & Rakshasa). He's pretty decent. Not much else to say; he hits stuff hard in obvious ways and lets you run around easier. Yamato had one of 'em way back on Day 2. That's about it.

So, what, if he's last then what about Culebre?

Yeah, not happening, sorry. They're just not that good, especially for what we want one for at this point. Release Command makes 'em a bit more viable but sod grinding that out at this stage.

Alright, let's go free Trumpeter.

[Music: Connected Hearts]

Hmm... Tough call. I mean, it's all or nothing...
Well, yes. But we don't have much time, do we? It'll be up to Hibiki in the end.
Someone say my name?
Oh, Hibiki... We were just talking about Trumpeter and--
Holy crap! He's here!
Ah, Hibiki. We were waiting for you to show up.
Sorry about that.

Saiduq filled us in briefly.
Oh... We heard about Trumpeter's melody, too. The jamming one...?
It'll stop Benetnasch's power, but we won't be able to summon any more demons either...
That's right.
We'll simply have to summon our demons before the melody's effect takes hold.

And our attacks will still have no effect, so the demons will have to do all the work.
It's a pretty big risk. What do you say, Hibiki?
We have to do this.
Haha, indeed. I knew you'd say that.
Whoa... Y-You're serious, Hibiki...!?

Mmm-hmm. I know we can do this!
If we've decided, let's hurry and head over there. It's time we got this over with.
All right.

Mm... All right. Well then, Hibiki. Be my guest and send the release code.
Leave it to me.
Yeah... Go for it. We finally found a countermeasure, so I sure hope it works...

[Music: Dark Clouds]

Wings... An angel? Then... Oh! H-He has a trumpet...!

Oh, um... Trumpeter? Well, we've got this teensy favor to ask. Will you help?
...I refuse. Why should I help you?

...Ever since the world was created, I have never had any reason to help you.
N-No, this isn't about the creation of the world. We're in real trouble here!
I mean, c'mon. We took the time to find you, get the code, and resurrect you...
You can at least repay the favor by helping us out a little bit, you know?
P-Please...! We really are in trouble...

[Music: Silence]

Repent, or face the consequences...

[Music: Countdown]

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Someone do something about this guy! He's seriously inflexible!

Hey, uh, Fumi. What'cha doing up there?

Yeah, yeah. Allow me to butt in here for a second.
Fumi...!?

[Music: Silence]

...? Who are you?
Me? I wasn't expecting such a stupid question. Do you really need to know that?
No... Not at all. But, you're...

[Music: A Moment of Rest]

Don't "no, but" me, idiot. I hate having to answer pointless questions.

Meh. As long as you understand. Now, back to whether you'll help us...

...Seriously!? Now we can fight Benetnasch...! Aw, you're a nice guy after all!
Um, well...

Thanks.
Huh? That was nothing. Nothing at all.

[Music: Exploration]

Uh... Haha... Nah. She's something of an exception. I've gotta feel sorry for you.
Yeah, no kidding.
R-Right... Fumi is... special in her own ways.
B-But, I don't think you should let it bother you, Trumpeter.
I-Indeed...

Ah... W-Wait a sec! Could you try playing it once and--

I'm really curious how you would rehearse "shutting down Benetnasch's waves so you could kill it" without, uh, shutting down Benetnasch's waves so you could kill it.

You leave the area, but the atmosphere is tense...

Alright, so we've now got a bit of a lull in what to do before we go fight Benny for real.

So, we'll call this here and vo- eh, nah. Better plan; since we got Io's Fate 5, might as well get two more out of the way.

These two are ones who were also actually at Fate 5 before now (last ones like that, I promise). Makes most sense to bring their stories to their conclusion while we have the time.

[Music: In the Devastated Town]

...Hibiki. Did you come to see Jungo?
Yes.
Me, too. Just a little bit, from a distance... He was with another cat.

It's because you saved him.
...I did?

Huh?
Being with Jungo made me happy, even with the world like this.
That's why I'm the one who was saved, by Jungo.

...That's why I need to protect the world, where you and Jungo live.

...!

Jungo appears. It seems he heard you and Jungo...

Let's go, Hibiki. If he follows me, it'll be dangerous for him.
Maybe I'll come see him again when it's all over...
Why don't you adopt him?
Jungo and me, living together...?

Mhm... I'll hold back for now. Let's come again once everything's peaceful.
Bye-bye, Jungo... For now.

Jungo runs off. You follow him...

[Music: Exploration]

This was Jungo's last scene. Everyone has 2 more available on this day (except Saiduq; he gets three), and we got the first of Jungo's done earlier.

I'm not entirely sure if we'll see Oumitsunu or not. He requires level 67 which sounds possible, but we'll see how it goes. He's a pretty great strength demon having a base Strength of 32 before any fusion bonuses. Not quite as big on defense as Titania, but hey. Not everyone can be an invincible monster.

Rather conveniently there's only two free scenes left over and we need to do both of Makoto's anyway.

Thank you so much for what you did last time...
It's nothing to thank me for... I just did what I felt was right.
Besides, I'm not the one you should be thanking.
...?

Makoto leaves the woman, then sees you and comes up to you...

That's embarrassing.
Heh... Hold your head up high. You're the one who convinced me to save people.

[Music: Connected Hearts]

I have to thank you, Kuze. Without you, I'd have abandoned them...
You're welcome.
Haha... I didn't know what to do for a long time. I had no clue how to live my life.

I didn't know who was right, or who to believe in...

Makoto looks at you...

I do, too.
I look back, and I realize that you've always lived like that.

I think that it's best to live life with as few regrets as possible...
So, thank you. You taught me something very important.

Makoto holds out her hand to you...

What's this?
Haha... I just want to shake your hand. It's just a bit embarrassing to do this...

...Let's be honest, there's only one real option here.

Makoto wipes her hands on her handkerchief...

[Music: Over the Brink of Death]

Heh... You have larger hands than I thought.
The path I must follow is with you, Kuze. ...Let's keep doing our best.

Makoto gently releases you...

...Well then, I'm going. I'll see you later.

Makoto walks away...

[Music: Exploration]

Y'know, it's a real small thing but these scenes feel like they should be the other way around. Barely matters much, but the previous one really feels more like closure.

...Kuze. We're currently using talented members of JP's to wipe out demons.
No matter how many we kill, they still keep coming... We just have to keep doing it.

[Music: Countdown]

...! Dammit, again!?

A wounded man and woman run towards you...

The others didn't make it out in time... They...
How many demons are there? And how many people left behind?
What? You have a summoning app...?

The woman relates the details...

Please... Everyone's going to die!

What? JP's?
......
They're not gonna help us! We have to find someone else to help!
B-But...
Hurry! Or they'll all die!
......

Makoto is silent...

Want me to help?

[Music: Heroes Have No Fear]

...Huh?
Th-Then...!
You two, get out of here. Don't worry, I'll save everybody else.
B-But aren't you JP's...?

Th-Thank you!
Now go on... I'll see you later, Kuze.

Makoto runs off...

You lead the two civilians to a safe area...

[Music: Exploration]

Makoto and Jungo were the only outstanding Fate 5's that I had stockpiled. Every one from this point onward is actually legitimately earned when it comes up.

If Oumitsunu's usability on this first go around was questionable, Athena's is pushing it. Which is kind of a shame. She requires level 69, but is a great Megami demon.

For the time being though, let's worry about what's right in front of us: kicking Alkaid's non-existent teeth in.

Ah! There he is! You're late!
Sorry for the holdup.

[Music: Heroes Have No Fear]

No, you are on time. The hour has finally come to finish the fight against Benetnasch.
Ugh, now I'm nervous! Will this work? L-Like with Trumpeter and stuff...?
We'll be fine.
Yes. Second guessing yourself will not change the outcome. We must trust in you humans.

This area won't last much longer... we gotta hurry and get this done!
It's around the corner...
Which means we have no time to waste. Let us go, Shining One.

[Music: Countdown]

There it is. ...Benetnasch.
H-Hey, this is really gonna work, right!? What if he makes our demons return again...?
We should be all right, as long as that demon is present. ...Isn't that right?

You've got to do it!
Very well. I will obey my pledge and grant thy wish here.

[Sound Bite: Trumpeter]

[Music: Heroes Have No Fear]

Now... Benetnasch's special emanations should be canceled, as we have planned.
R-Right...! But it's about to get really serious. We won't be able to summon demons...!
We're ready for that.
Indeed. After we summon demons now, we will only have those ones to do battle with.

We'll have to be careful.
Wait a sec... if Trumpeter's canceling whatever it is that Benetnasch is doing...
If he stops playing, then won't that mean his jamming effect stops, too?

Of course. That should be obvious. Our initial team setup will be vital.

[Music: Septentrion]

Trumpeter being here is kind of not an issue. We technically have to protect him but there's no trouble doing it.

Benetnasch is unchanged from the first time we fought, only this time he has two buds out already.

They can still Disastrophism, but it doesn't hurt Trumpeter. Neither they nor he will move either, so Dark Thunder isn't even going to happen.

For the first time in a long, long while (Free Battles not included) we can't crack anything here either. Makes sense, since Benny's repertoire is still just Septentrion-unique skills.

We want to take out these two buds before doing anything else. Just saves time and helps prevent Diastrophisms from being a nuisance.

From this distance, we can just have Arioch punch them and not worry about it.

The second one manages to get its Diastrophism off, thanks to the Chaos Breath delay. Not a big deal; it just deals Phys damage after all. Nullification, drain or reflection deals with it quite handily.

But we'll put a stop to this right now. No need to worry about it after this.

Unfortunately, taking down both buds is one of two ways of triggering this little bit in his scripting.

He drops in four more right next to Trumpeter.

The other way of triggering this is to engage Benetnasch in a skirmish. Thankfully it only does it for one or the other; not both.

Once the next 4 buds drop in, Benny throws a hissy fit and changes to his more threatening version.

Thankfully this time his Dragon Eye skill won't matter in the slightest.

The new buds are sort of in a threatening location and all but I did hang back to deal with them.

As a result, not a single one of them is getting a turn.

These four buds are probably the biggest threat to Trumpeter, which is pretty damning.

Benetnasch himself can't move, after all, and his range doesn't extend anywhere near this far.

And just to make things better, he doesn't even try spawning more buds after we drop these four.

So we get a giant lull to slowly advance towards the center of the map. Once here, Hibiki drops an Evil Wave and we get some wacky antics from this.

Alkaid's attack range is 7. Hibiki's attack range is 8.

Poor Benetnasch is about to get trashed, and at first glance there's nothing he can do about it.

Hibiki and Arioch might not be able to help Python out here, but it matters in a lot less ways than it seems.

It takes a couple rounds, purposefully dragged out to get my positioning right, but once Benny drops to yellow HP or less the fight changes a bit and we begin the second half.

Is that Megrez? And an Alioth? I see more of the Septentriones too... Ugh.

So, yeah, Benetnasch's way of being all the Septentriones at once... is that it IS all the Septentriones at once.

And it even throws out a bunch of Alioth's shots, but this time we don't get the chance to drop them before they explode.

Because they do so immediately. Thankfully, the poison is in set locations so we can plan around it.

...And wouldnt you know it, I positioned everyone so they wouldn't start off in it. Am I lucky or what? :v:

So, yeah, we just went from one Benetnasch to four. Three of them are combinations of two previous Septentriones. In many cases this works out to our advantage frankly.

None of those three are overly threatening on their own, and feel more like each Septentrione had its skills actually reduced to compensate for being a compound of two.

It tries to get around this in a couple lazy ways, like Mizar/Alioth having Endure and Beast Eye but it doesn't really help it much.

The fourth segment, then, is the real Benetnasch. This one keeps his own gimmick (immune to Humans) but also picks up his own two skills. Alkaid is effectively just a really cost-effective Megido whereas Unheard Prayer inflicts Curse via Curse elemental stuff. Doesn't even deal damage or anything; just hits one team on the map. Even worse than when Possession does it, since this one can be blocked and it doesn't reduce movement/attack range either.

The segments themselves can actually move around a bit, but we still have the advantage. At this point, beyond skills on the map like Dark Thunder, they need to be next to you to fight anyway. Their major range advantage in all previous fights is now gone.

[Music: Break Out]

They also have very, very little HP honestly. Like they only have 1200 each.

In the case of some of them this is an increase, true, but for Benny himself he's dropped to below half what he had before.

Dubhe/Megrez decided it wants to fight Jungo. I can't really complain about this one too much, since it works out in our advantage.

Ruinous Wind is nowhere near as threatening now as it was originally.

Plus, y'know, Pierce. Resistance to fists doesn't matter all that much at this point.

So, that's one down already. In the interest of not having Hibiki do literally everything on this map, everyone gets to take out one fragment. Jungo's dropped his, so he'll run back to Trumpeter just in case things somehow manage to go horribly wrong.

Dark Thunder is not really that big of a deal either, really. More of one than Ruinous Wind was, true, but that means very little now.

Oh well, let's take out Benny's true form before it can do anything.

So, yeah, Python stuck around for this last map because it can ruin Benetnasch's day. Culebre could too, but it requires more effort and hassle and I'm lazy.

Two halves down, now for Hinako to get the easiest one.

It, uh, it's weak to punching. I almost threw Jungo at it anyway just to see how big the numbers would be from him.

Instead, this unreadable mess of lots of numbers will have to do. It's still very pretty, albeit in a different way.

And Fumi's getting the last one. And she gets to be very Fumi about it.

If, um, if it didn't have Endure she would've dropped it in oneshot from full HP with this.

Instead she took it out anyway, because Lugh eviscerated most of its HP in one punch beforehand.

So, that was Benetnasch. The big, bad, final Septentrione. Not really much of a threat in the grand scheme of things. We schooled it twice in a row, but this second one required no real effort whatsoever.

[Music: Over the Brink of Death]

Remember when I said that the start of this day was the game taking the gloves off? It was starting to, but I can understand if it seems like it still hasn't quite gotten them off entirely yet.

We did it.
Ugh, that was a bitch. That splitting apart thing wasn't fair! Too many surprises...
But you have all done well in defeating Benetnasch. That was the seventh...
Are there more?

But that was only a theory of ours, so I'm still worried...
Don't worry. You have nothing to fear. Trust me.
It's still a secret?

Er, wait a second. Polaris aside, there are a few things we have to take care of.

But someone like Ronaldo probably won't keep a low profile.
I agree. But neither faction has made a move. There's no knowing what they've planned.
What we can do now to prepare for the end is to stay alert for both factions...
And make sure each of us are ready when the time comes.
Preparing... that's not a bad idea.

Mm. Okay. Just a little more fighting 'til it's all done. Good luck, guys.

You say your farewells to everyone before leaving...

[Music: Exploration]

With Benetnasch done for, we can use Trumpeter for ourself later down the line. Naturally, he's a Fiend so he's not as amazing as he usually is. Plus he's level 63 so we can't use him for a short while.

Also with Benny down, we've got a bit of relaxation time. A fair bit, in fact. We can even technically spend some of it with Keita or Airi if we wanted.

Just leaves the question of who DO we spend it with? :siren:

For that reason alone, I'll drop you into hell.
Now that we've seen the best scene in the entire game, it's all downhill from here, folks.

Also, yeah, Benetnasch is rather underwhelming for being the final Septentrione. Even without the human characters he's really weak and dies really fast, to me he was probably the easiest of the Septentriones. I suppose maybe they just made him easy because they were afraid the whole "no switching demons" gimmick would be a huge problem?

Well, now that Benny's dead here....let's talk about how the anime kills him.

So, following the rapid succession of deaths, Daichi has a freakout and does the whole "we're doomed, guys!" bit. However, like Airi earlier in the anime, this allows Daichi to summon a powerful demon. Which demon, you ask? None other than a giant BLACK FROST. This is actually a big surprise for Daichi, since throughout the anime...he's been the comic relief with the hilariously weak demons. Like, ones you'd have at the start of the game and stop using almost immediately after Monday-ish aside from fusion fodder (e.g. Hequet and Obariyon). And now he's got control of one gigantic demon for the first time in the show. Black Frost then proceeds to straight up clown Benny effortlessly and we then roll into the final showdown for humanity's fate: Hibiki, Daichi and Io on one side, and Yamato, Makoto and Al on the other side. On a related subject, the fansubs for this episode have a lovely hilarious error in that when Black Frost first appears, Makoto identifies it using the Japanese name for Black Frost, "Jaaku Frost". To someone not familiar with the series, Makoto's pronunciation comes off as "Jack Frost", the franchise's mascot character. And that's what Black Frost's name gets subtitled as in the fansubs: "Jack Frost".

Moving on to more awesome things, I've always liked how demons get treated differently across the franchise. So far, we've seen two big ones. First, we had Yoshitsune, aka "The only reason some people go through Persona 4's Tower social link". Here, it's not as hilariously broken as in P4 (imagine Jungo with access to Hassou Tobi :allears:), but still a good physical powerhouse. And in this update, we have Trumpeter, one of Nocturne's more annoying gimmick bosses. Here, Fumi pummels a herald of the apocalypse with nothing more than a bunch of laptops. Definitely a great scene.
