Their generic nation systems tend to break down when a country gets big enough to ignore the (limited/fixed upper limit) maluses in place to hinder too quick growth, letting them run rampant or in the case of Vicky tank the entire economic system too. Solution: Break it down into smaller "country" sized bits.
