I don't know if this is too close to :filez: or whatever, but I don't have cable right now and I'm wondering if there's a good NBC stream I can find somewhere? I have gotta watch this live.

Brie Olson was Charlie Sheen's pornstar girlfriend.

That might have made for a very different episode. Good thing Leonard knows the electric bass.

Also, Jeff met his father, James Brolin. That was kind of a big deal.

And he has a half-brother, Adam Devine.

I almost typed Adam Levine, which also would've made for a very different episode.

I'm watching the second new episode, and I'm laughing my rear end off during the riot scene at the absurdity of some of the students' weapons. Some of them have chairs, and binders, and the like, but Neil literally has a board with a bunch of nails on it.

Also, I want to read what's on every single one of those note cards in Abed's apartment.

I completely forgot that the long list of guest stars is being packed into thirteen episodes. It almost makes me nervous, that's the kind of thing an NBC show does in its final season.

Or 30 Rock in almost any given season.

On the subject season 4 rewatches, I just started rewatching it this last month, and it honestly didn't bother me as much as it did originally. But I really think the fact that I didn't do a rewatch until season 5 and Dan Harmon was announced played a part in that. It really helped not to just have to come to terms with that was it for Community.

30 Rock also got a 13-episode run for its final season, and went out on a high note after a couple shaky seasons. I'd be okay if this was Community's last season: it gives them a chance to wrap things up, end strong, and not have to pad things out for a longer season. If NBC would have done this (namely, a short season) with Parks and Rec I think Season 5 would have been stronger, since they wouldn't have had to keep adding episodes as the order changed.

Going off of 30 Rock, I only hope that Community knows it's doing its last season. That's what made 30 Rock's so good. They knew exactly how much time they had to wrap things up perfectly. I just don't want what turns out to be a series finale that's really just a season finale written with the mindset of "Welp. Maybe we'll get another season, maybe we won't. So we better give some closure, but leave things just open enough to keep going if we get to."

To be fair, I think that by the time Harmon and co. had finished the last episodes, they were still under the impression they might very well be on their last/only season every year so far.

That's true, but there's a difference between getting an announced final season, and to wrap up your show because you just have to assume that's it.

Two fantastic episodes, though I do think it would still be funny if there was a season 6, it gets actual good ratings, and Harmon says "Nope, no season 7, you wanted six seasons and a movie and that's it!"

Considering there was a time we weren't even sure there'd be a season 3, I'd still take it and say thank you.

Or maybe they could have a D&D campaign take place in a paintball game occurring on the set of Troy and Abed in the morning. When you think about it though, this is a school that has gotten swept up in three different paintball games, a giant pillow fort, another giant pillow/blanket fort and the following war, and a riot over an A-. It kinda makes sense that at this point the student body is just waiting for reasons to do stuff like this.

Neither of us is wrong in enjoying the aspects that we enjoy and just because an episode leans too heavily on pointless wackiness (or, on the other hand, deep character study) doesn't mean the series overall isn't for me (or you).

The difference is that I like both of those things. Uggggh, stop being so drat smarmy. It's worse than being The Worst.
