Another Tigers fan.....with that faint glimmer of hope before the reaming begins.

A successful season will be one where we scrape into the top 8, and manage not to sell our gun young players to any teams with water based mascots.

Still think o'neill needs a trophy.

For those new to the great game of Rugby League.

quote:

As his fame and confidence grew at the Broncos, O'Neill found himself at the centre of a number of alcohol-fuelled incidents. At Southport Magistrates Court in 1995 he faced five charges, following an incident at Conrad Jupiters Casino where he was reported to have urinated under a blackjack table, including indecent exposure and offensive behavior. He was found not guilty, three fraud charges were dropped and he was awarded costs.

After being released by the Brisbane Broncos, O'Neill played a season with the London Broncos but was released by them as well after a drink-driving offence. For a time he was engaged to Australian swimming star Samantha Riley, but the engagement ended after Riley, who (despite being embroiled in a drugs controversy herself in the lead-up to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics) was renowned for having a clean-living reputation, reportedly grew tired of O'Neill's alcohol consumption and subsequent reckless behaviour.

He made a fresh start at the Western Reds in 1996 but was released in 1997 after being fined and disqualified from driving in 1997 in Perth's Magistrates Court. He made another clean start at the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 1998 but suffered immense publicity and a $10,000 fine from the club over a 1999 pre-season tour incident where a drunken O'Neill defecated in the footwear of teammate Jeremy Schloss. This incident became known as "the poo in the shoe" affair, and gained much media attention and public ridicule after O'Neill reportedly uttered the alliterative line, "I just shat it Schlossy's shoe," to his teammates.

In 2001, O'Neill's 13-month-old daughter, Piper, was killed when a television set fell onto her in his family's home. In 2004, while on a pre-season trip to Australia with the Widnes Vikings, he was accused of drunkenly attempting to set fire to a 13-year-old boy who was wearing a foam-rubber dolphin mascot suit whilst on a river cruise in Port Macquarie. To avoid apprehension, O'Neill stripped to his underwear following the incident, dived into the Hastings River and swam to shore, before hitchhiking and being picked up by a passing car.

Yileen Gordon sacked by Wests Tigers after offending students on school visit

The Wests Tigers have terminated the contract of Yileen Gordon after he offended students and teachers during a school visit on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old, who was on a three month train-and-trial contract with the Tigers, was sacked by the joint venture club on Tuesday night.

Wests Tigers players had been visiting local schools as part of an anti-bullying program when Gordon's behaviour offended some at the school.

Gordon had written offensive material that was seen during his visit. School officials later complained to the Tigers.

"He basically wrote something he shouldn't have written at a school visit and when we found out we decided it was worthy of termination regardless of who the player was," chief executive Grant Mayer said.

The club terminated Gordon's contract on Tuesday night for breaching the terms and conditions of his contract.

“Wests Tigers takes its position as a leader in the community very seriously and has high expectations of all its players,” Mayer added.

In 2011 Gordon was stood down by the Panthers after driving unlicensed and hitting a parked vehicle in Penrith.

He had three passengers in the car, including clubmates Nafe Seluini and Brendon Gibb, who owned the Holden Commodore. It was believed Gordon had been driving them to a friend’s house after they spent the previous evening out together.

Gordon made his NRL debut for junior club Souths in 2005, playing 34 matches, before moving on to Canterbury four years later. Released by the Bulldogs after two seasons, Gordon tried his luck at Penrith without success.

Last year he played for Newtown – who were once famously labelled the ‘‘Betty Ford Clinic of rugby league’’ before the Tigers threw him yet another lifeline.

However, he was released from the joint venture without having played a game, and his future in the code is now uncertain.

Offending school kids. Is there anything this great game cannot achieve?

If your feeling dirty, I'm between places and am using Foxtel Play (The IPTV service) for my sports fix (And secret Bargain Hunt Fetish), and it's not too bad and beats a shity stream hands down. If your stuck with Telstra for a landline provider, it's quota free.

For $50 bucks a month it can delvier all your A-League and other pay-tv sporting needs without a contract, and no sign up fee.

Alternatively if you have a really good mate or relly with Foxtel, grab their online log in and use Foxtel Go for nix. It's free for up to three devices, but cant be used on Samsung TV's. Up until the move I was doing this for my mate in the Gong, and i'm up here on the central coast, and there was no drama llama. When I complete the move, i'll give a log in to my inlaws as thanks for putting up with me.

Also, even if I didn't like the Roosters I still hate Wigan and was happy to see them beaten.

That being said, the top SL teams are legit good, the league just doesn't have the depth of NRL because it's not as popular in England as Union.

True, but perhaps you need to do some creative thinking to even up and make every match a tough contest for all sides - Gould does make a good point where there does seem to be more "easy" matches for the top sides in SL than in the NRL.

Be buggered if I know what could be done though.

NFL-style profit-sharing?

(Yes, I know, "what profits?")

Possibly, but I suspect if there was a surefire answer it'd already be implemented.

Maybe poorer teams get a larger cap, or if funds are poor, more succesful teams get a cap penalty and have to release players to other teams (without fiscal penalty to the player or the receiving club). Perhaps the succesful club could get some other fiscal benefit to offset, this protecting the more succesful clubs bottom lines.

Again, not offering any rock solid solutions here, just throwing things against the wall.
