I am currently reading BioMega (I've read his other works) and I wonder how long did it take him to alter his drawing style for KoS. I mean, not only is the insane cross-hatching missing, and the main color being white instead of concrete-grey, but the whole thing feels very different.

Yeah, characters are not his focus, they are just a mean to present the settings, which are mostly focused on architecture porn, weird biological beings, and hard-ish sci-fi concepts. Those same concepts often do not allow for very nuanced characters, which is perfectly fine. Sidonia is his first work with characters we're supposed to relate with and it shows. But, I wonder if it was his choice to use hackneyed characters because he doesn't feel at ease with more nuanced ones or if it was an editorial decision and he had to fill the tsundere, etc. quota.

Anyways, this may be the best ending (or even close to a good one) but he did tie up most plot threads and had a well-defined ending where you know what happened to the characters and what they'll do in the future. Fine with me!
