I hope the opening credits are still in 4:3 SD.

This. That looks pretty awesome though. Hopefully Netflix gets updated with this version.

The first episode I ever watched was 'The Calusari' as a ten year old. Watching the little kid get led onto the train tracks by the poltergeist balloon seriously hosed me up.

Dude, I just watched this for the first time last week. My parents always used to watch X-Files, I was too young to give it any attention, but my gently caress was that a crazyily hosed up episode.

The exorcism at the end was even more nuts.

Scully and Mulder have seen some poo poo, man.

Rewatching this series as an adult - maybe it is the SD of the first few seasons but I really enjoy the special effects in this show. Minimal digital nonsense. I really miss that stuff.

If I ever come into millions of dollars somehow, I'm going to make my own 90s X-files-esque TV show with awesome special effects starring Michael Richards

My gently caress, I just watched the Cockroach episode last night. I've noticed a change in the writing for this show around season 3, where it seems like the characters are coming into their own a little bit more. I thought the bits with Mulder calling Scully at home and Scully debunking Mulder's theories without batting an eye were pretty great.

I just love the special effects, so good. The makeup, explosions, etc. All great stuff.

Just watched the episode last night with the Shapechanger guy who impersonates Mulder and tries to bang Scully.

I thought it was pretty awesome seeing not-Mulder go about his daily life (phone sex lines) and also holy poo poo the sexual tension on screen was great.

Yeah. He starts listening to Mulder's answering machine, and hears this sexy voice - "hey, I miss you", and he starts writing down the number, only for it to turn out to be an automated phone sex advertisement.

Bob Odenkirk + Vince Gilligan can't possibly be a flop.

Currently early in season 5 guys.

I am pretty intrigued by the crazy high-end polaroid camera that is sometimes used. It is big and white and has lasers on it. Popped up in a few episodes during crime scene analyses. Just always popped out at me.

A couple episodes ago there was a scene where the CSM brought another Samantha clone to Mulder at a diner, and for some reason he started interacting with her like it was his sister. Were the writers not accounting for the previous episodes where it was confirmed they're alien clones full of green goo?

imo don't judge X-files by episode continuity, which is a weird thing to say but is kind of true

So now confirmed to be returning to the writers room are:

Chris Carter
Glen Morgan & James Wong
Darin Morgan

Yep. Confirmed. How crazy is this. And apparently they're trying hard to get Spotnitz back.

Other news:There will be both mythology and monster of the week episodes. Mark Snow will be scoring. They will shoot in Vancouver. Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish might be back if there's room in their schedules.

This feels like a dream. If they can get Vince Gilligan, too, then I'll know this is too good to be true.

So that episode where Mulder's creeper writer neighbor kinda sorta seduces Scully has to have been one of the show writer's self-insert wish-fulfillment fan-fic, right?

this is the storyline of a bunch of episodes, just replace neighbor with whatever character the writers were using at that time.

Chris Carter's a fine writer with some very, very obvious flaws. More importantly, X-Files was always kind of a melange of visions, so I just wouldn't want him to write every single episode.

Of course, a lot of that also depends on how heavy they decide to go on the myth arc.

Kenny Bania, too! Very solid episode.

That's gold, Mulder, gold!
