What team can do this that doesn't require me to 1-shot him on pure matching ability, that also doesn't require me to stall for 25+ turns on the masks? The closest I came so far is DA Metatron/DD Batman/DL Yomi/Dragon Rider/King Flamie/DA Meta. I was like 500 HP short of surviving a Chimera hit and getting into the multiplier zone, and everything but Dragon Rider is max leveled. I guess an entire maxed team will get me there with a +297 friend? I wouldn't think his awakenings are worth the light XP. I have been having some success with Bastet, Echi, Hera-Is, DW Vamp, Haku, Okun. Hera-Is is skill 5 so it is not horrible stalling for the gravity. At least 2/3 runs have been successful. I am not sure all the cool downs are needed, but it is nice to have the insurance. Okun delay on Chimera's and if I need to stall, I will not use any other cooldowns and take the full 2-3 turns to kill them, otherwise spread cats and go to town. Zeus usually falls over to a gravity along with a haku activation, but I have echi and vamp around just in case I get a lovely haku board. A friend uses a similar team and it requires even less stalling: Bastet, Hanzo, DD Yomi, Loki, Echi, Okun. Skyfall will destroy the masks, so just be careful with the matching.

Your Haku team will effectively do the same damage as your Kirin team to Zeus, it's also easier to activate and has slightly more HP. The only thing is you lose a 36% insta-nuke from the Kirin team. You get 3 bursts with your Haku team though so there's that too. I'd go with Haku myself, if you crash and burn on Chimeras or something you could just stone for stamina instead of continuing, and try the other team.

When there's 2.5x hp/atk to go with them, their usefulness will improve. We'll probably see that eventually, but a dual 2.5x isn't a big deal. Devil teams tend to have decent recovery, if not using Satan. It's all about breaking through a monster's hps quicky and the Sonias don't do that. I did pull a red one, and I'm trying to see how I can use that with a red/black team. But I wouldn't use her as a leader.

One Haku activation with a good combo *might* take out both Chimeras, but is more likely to only take out one, even with a nice big combo out of it. If they both spawn with a 1 turn timer, you'll probably have to use either Hera-Is or echidna to avoid them killing you. Since you don't have a DW batman or Loki, you probably can't oneshot Zeus, so you need to save echidna for him.

So, dumb question perhaps, but my non-IAP account has basically poo poo for REM Leads. Basically just DD Batman and Leilan. Should I roll the Kitty REM with my current 17 stones plus whatever I get from Challenge Mode in the next 2 weeks, or save it for the next decent godfest? Basically feel like I have a solid 4/2/2 lead with the DD Batman and an OK 3.5x chinese lead with Leilan-Suzaku but I'm not sure if Purin/Valkitty will help me round out my lower-multiplier leads better and/or whether any of the HK REM dudes are super awesome subs for Leilan (none seem terribly worthwhile for DD Batman). Part of me says to save my rolls for a godfest where I can get something more end-game capable like Kirin/U+Y/Ra? Sure, you get Red which makes for easy delay, but you don't get dark which is easy XP and tons of gravity, and light is harder for XP, and green seems generally underwhelming in terms of the chinese colors (most folks seem to use a Susano or get it from a sub-color). Sure I can build a mono-red team with a splash from Valk or go heavier light with Zeus when gravity is needed, but it still feels like it's a bit forced compared to Byakko's natural synergy (Gravity galore from dark, echidna for easy red, and lots of dark brings blue off-color such as DJ, Vamp, etc)... combine that with dark being unresistable while Fire stalls against water, and Light being a (in my experience) more common color for descends than green such that a dark byakko team is both easy to build and routinely more powerful. Am I missing something?

None of the monsters are really suited for your Seiryuu or Batman team, and only Purin stands out as an obvious boost to your box. Valkitty is interesting, but seems like she demands an incredibly specific team to make her worthwhile. And those are the rarest ones, meaning your far more likely to end up with the pool of silver eggs: four worthless monsters, a Balanced/Green team sub and a Genbu/Healer team sub. Those aren't great odds, compared to rolling on Egyptian/Chinese or even Norse/New Greek to expand your 4/2/2 possibilities.

Well...you may be right that Byakko is "better" or easier than Leilan for the reasons you pointed out, but right now you already have a Leilan, whereas theres no guarantee you'd pull a Byakko or something better, if you tried to rereoll (without like 1000x attempts). I would assume Leilan is perfectly usable for a lot of the game, again for the reasons you outlined. 1 in the hand is better than 2 in the bush, right?

Oh very true -- just meant given the uncertainty of the KittyREM versus the regular REM which would likely yield the highest chance at beneficial results (either a better lead than I have or a complementary sub)... Opaopa seems to make good sense - the green/balance kitty isn't really terribly effective for a Leilan team (I guess you could make a green-heavy Leilan team but it's gonna be forced) leaving me with a high chance of crap and a low chance at a marginal upgrade (3.5 unconditional is great even with the RCV penalty, but activating Leilan isn't exactly difficult for the same 3.5x, and the 4x lead does seem to require some pretty specific subs to get full-time use (many of which I don't have -- Daruma and Gunma skilled up, for instance).

I don't get much use out of my Suzaku because I usually run a mono-green or Cu Chu team, so I haven't put much xp into red, but I think Suzaku has some solid synergy/subs, depending on what you have from the REM. Byakko's really good because of DJ/Echidna/Siren, sure, and dark xp is easier to get that light, but I think colored xp is still easier to get than dark most of the time. Even if Byakko is slightly better because the heartbreakers on the team are a little easier to get & skill-up (Gigas + Vamp), and we've gotten more Super Metals recently, that doesn't make Suzaku bad. The biggest advantages I see for Byakko are: easier gravity (Hera), super darks run often, the batmen share colors, and we just did the DJ skill-up survey. On the other hand, I think Suzaku has better access to good orb enhancement, since Takeminakata seems easier to get than Hera-Ur. Also, the 3-color Chinese gods are way more flexible than Kirin/U&Y because you can run more orb-changers without color conflicts. Your real problem isn't Suzaku, it's that you're trying to level two teams that don't share subs. That's fair, and Byakko would be much better to complement your D/D Bats team (you can swap them interchangeably as subs for each other, for instance), but don't be too harsh on Suzaku. Sub-wise, there are a lot of great options for Suzaku: Cu Chu - farmable, just had a skill-up dungeon. Gigas - One of the easier heartbreakers to get, which is a huge advantage over Valk, Cu Chu, and Sieg. And you can skill it up easily. Valkyrie - Drops from a descended dungeon, is a huge pain in the backside to get, but is really good. Also just had a skillup dungeon. [EDIT: and covers all your colors] Green / Red Golem - Covers that Susano spot if you don't have one from the REM. Huge HP, too, which really helps with the 12.25/1/1 fragility. Verche - So good. PKH - Like Verche, different colors. For comparison, blue's the only color that has not had a survey dungeon to drop it's mystic knight. Point for Suzaku. Echidna - One of the reasons that red is so good. Angelion/Fairlion - REM only, but just had a skillup dungeon and you can farm skill-ups. L/G, so you can run Suzaku/Angelion + any other subs you want. Remember a dark sub still gets 12.25x atk bonus if you trigger the leader skill, though matching 4 or 5 colors gets harder and uses different orb-changers. Toytops - a heart-maker that doesn't eat one of your primary colors. Then there are other REM swaps & specialized subs. Artemis/AA Michael/Bastet - all are G/L, so cover your colors. Bastet's probably a better leader for most uses, but it depends on the dungeon, and Artemis is a decent leader swap for when you need more defense. Susano - good for defense. AA Michael & Artemis's leader skills are terrible for Suzaku but meh. (AA Uriel is similar) Mastering - Orb refresh if you need it. Green goblins work too. Zeus - Covers the gravity slot, though obviously needing a Zeus for that kinda defeats the point of the team. Takeminakata - Light + Red orb enhance covers two of your three colors. Top Droid - armor breaker. So you could run good Suzaku teams with: Suzaku / Valk / Cu Chu / Gigas / Takeminakata - heartbreak to cover whatever colors you need covered, orb enhance to spike on the boss. Suzaku / Angelion / Fortoytops / Takeminakata / Green (or Red) Golem - No real color synergy for spikes, but you have great defenses with heart-making and the golem, and a solid boss spike of Suzaku + Take actives. Suzaku / Echidna / Angelion / Hera / Hera - 5-turn angelion helps you stall earlier to charge the Heras, Echidna + Hera + Hera is a dual gravity and delay for the boss. If you get lucky and snag a dark combo on the Suzaku active turn you have a crazy spike on the boss. Suzaku / Verche / PKH / Green Golem / Red Golem - Golem defenses, lots of HP, swap in a light golem for armor breaking if that's at all decent (is it? I have no clue) Suzaku / Verche / PKH / Takeminakata / (Valk/Cu Chu/Gigas) - convert Dark & Blue to Light & Red, Take active. Use Cu Chu to cover green for the combo if needed, or Valk/Gigas to get you more spike damage. Suzaku / (Verche or Angelion or Bastet) / anything / anything / anything - run with it. I don't do much Suzaku'ing, as I said, but between Echidna, Takeminakata, and the standard mystic knights, heartbreakers, and toydragons you have good options. Wow great post. Suzaku was my starter roll but I'm still missing a ton of her more desirable subs, so I tend to bounce between teams a lot. After reading up on CuChu teams a bit, it appears that I have almost all of the usual subs for him though, so I think I'll work on leveling them and getting some other friends who use him. Something like CuChu, King Woodsie, BAO Robin, Toytops, and the new delay+enhance HK mon should be a pretty solid team, right? Plus a few others to swap in depending on the circumstances.

Yeah, what Seris and Shifood said, (PKH R/R too). I've actually got most of the basic farmables for the Suzaku team - even have a number of them skilled from Poring Tower (though not maxed, sadly, boo) just noting that while Gigas is an easy-to-get-and-skill heartbreaker the rest of a Suzaku team is generally inferior to the Byakko alternatives. Not at all saying Suzaku isn't viable or requires DD Meta levels of REM subs, just that Byakko gets all the benefits of a Suzaku team (Vamp and CDK as easy orb changers) while also having some other strengths Suzako doesnt have (dark is easy to XP, ready access to gravity, only toy dragon with a survey dungeon so far that also has a sub-type for the non-echidna color Byakko requires, no resistance to dark, etc). Not lamenting Leilan at all -- my non-IAP account was from before I knew about rerolls, and my starter roll was a MFK and subsequent early rolls were also terribad. If anything I'm grateful DD Bat was common from the BatREM and is a great monolead and that I managed to snag a 3.5 Chinese at all with free stones. Just read your first response, Arc, as saying that Leilan had advantages over the other 3.5 chinese gods and was thinking there was something I was missing. Turns out I just misread what you were saying (that Leilan is perfectly serviceable, not that she's better than or even necessarily totally on-par with Byakko).
