If they're anything like Hite's fantastic Suppresed Transmission series, they probably cover the real history, the fake history, then present an alternate history with campaign seed potential. I'd like to highly recommend as required that book as reading for modern-day conspiracy/horror, historical, and alternate history settings.   I gotta get around to Fatal & Friendsing this thing some time.

Alright, so you guys run into a Treant, a Tree Golem, a Plant Elemental, a Dryad, an aberration that looks just like a tree except the branches are tentacles, this cool Wood Demon from an obscure planescape supplement, and a tree.
