I mostly use an Apple TV with a US iTunes account just so I can get the WWE app. Canadian media streaming is an enormous clusterfuck, it's not just the WWE. Our version of Netflix sucks compared to the US one, and Netflix got super aggressive blocking people using VPNs to access the American content. We have three major cable companies colluding to keep prices high and divvy up the content between them. They all have their own awful streaming services comprised of the content that would be on US Netflix, and all require a cable subscription.

You don't even need a US billing address. They'll take a Canadian Paypal if you sign up on the website. The WWE doesn't care, they're just fulfilling a contract so they do the bare minimum of geoblocking. PS4 and Xbone work, though you may need to make a US account to initially download the app.

Yeah the Canadian PayPal works fine, but on WWE.com you have to put a US address in. Otherwise it just forwards you to that obnoxious cable provider only page. It's not a huge deal to sign up anymore. It's mostly the lack of apps for popular streaming devices that sucks.

Yeah I don't know, Bret's masterful carry jobs (Summerslam '92) would today not pass muster as being too obvious. But in that time frame a lot of the WWF ring work stunk big rear end so he looked like a miracle worker, even though there were plenty of guys around who could do that for people. I don't think many of Bret's miracle matches actually resulted in a main eventer.

Has anyone ever asked why the network doesn’t have some kind of match streaming channel? Like some people in charge of programming make a playlist that just streams good/fun/important matches that you have on in the background and you don’t have to make any decisions of what to watch. A 90 second hacksaw Jim Dugan squash from 1990 into a wrestlemania main event into some ecw match that has 7 people interfere into some random cruiserweight weight match from the first hour of nitro.

It was pretty cool to turn on a random clash of the champions when I’d get home from work and just wanted to screw around on my phone for an hour. Between the wrestlers that all have their pet favorite matches and fans suggesting stuff on Twitter they pretty much can have the job done for free. They could probably find about 50 subscribers and pay them with a wwe shop gift card to make a list of 20 matches on the network they’d want and cut it down to 1000 over the course of a weekend.

They ran random old shows *more* often, I think, but that was before they had all the newer content. Once they had all these shows up and running they wanted eyeballs on them. (I have not been subscribed in a while, and don't know when I'll ever come back, but in theory they could do something like Shudder where there are actually three separate streaming options alongside the on-demand catalog.)

Yeah, have a 'Legacy' channel where they show old Mid-South, AWA and WCCW stuff, a 'Monday Night Wars' channel where they show WWF/WCW/ECW from WM1 up through 2001, and then the current streaming option, with a bit more older 21st century stuff in rotation.

In Canada you can use a VPN (there's short term free ones) and a US account to get the app on a console and use it like Americans do.
