Erwin Balz Distinguished minsters of Ezo, I thank you for your hospitality and for allowing me to use my skills the help the poor and wounded. I would also like to express my sorrow for those who were lost in the wedding massacre, it is truly a sad day when any life is lost. I would like to humbly ask the ministers of Ezo to allow me to extend an olive branch between you and the German Empire. While relations are strained because of our involvement in the Meiji Government I personally hope that we can see past that and work for a better future.

Erwin Balz Friends, Ezoians, fellow human beings! Why must you send your sons off to war? Full of pride and honor, only to have them slaughter and be slaughtered by the forces of your foe? There will be no honor in this war, it will be senseless killing and bloodshed, the fields of Ezo will be strewn with the slain from both sides. Spare your mothers, your wives and your sisters the toil and anguish at getting a notice saying that their son, husband or brother has died. Spare your country the fires of war, the great fires that can never be quenched. Instead of this bloody conflict I propose an alternate solution, send your leaders to meet with those of the enemy in the grand city of Berlin, capital of the German Empire. Let us discuss and settle this like men. Not like wild animals, raping and killing those who disagree with us. If the president goes then Meiji will have to go, lest they be thought of as uncivilized and barbaric.
