Quite honestly, until today I hadn't even heard anybody mention the 10th year since the revival came back was coming up. It never even occurred to me by myself, I guess because this year is the 8th season thanks to the Year of Specials.

And we lost a year thanks to last season.

They basically brute-force their way through time travel is how I saw it. No elegance ("This is obvious" says the Cyber-leader), no panache or flair or subtlety. Their innovations are all born out of necessity through warfare, which may lead to amazing breakthroughs but requires post-war (or at least NON-war) applications afterwards to refine and improve everything. Davros is the same, he's only known war all his life and so all of his projects and research and brilliance has been targeted towards nothing but destructive (and therefore comparatively "simple") ends.

They required Time Travel so they figured out a way to smash a way through temporal barriers and get from point a to point b. No 12th dimensional potentially sentient time machines for them, just utilitarian time capsules operated by crews of fanatical, genocidal, xenophobic hate-monsters.

The Daleks are like the most inspirational species ever.

Absolutely everything about them dictates that they should be the butt of all jokes-they don't have hands, they don't have legs, they're just screaming little tanks who lived in the middle of buttfuck nowhere and came to be because their species couldn't keep their poo poo together and nuked everything til it glowed green.

Yet through sheer force of will, personality, hate, and determination, they rise up, challenge and SURPASS the Time Lords themselves.

Shame about being genocidal Nazis.

For Tom Baker? I keep writing “Tom” and having to correct it to “Baker.” And it just feels weird correcting it.

That's because every time you write Tom, he stands behind you where you jusssssst barely can see him in the corner of your eye, grinning like a madman.

And when you change it to Baker, he appears on the other side and frowns.

I still think Moffat does great stuff with Doctor Who, but it has been telling to see how opinion turned against him when he wasn't just the guy doing 1-2 stories a year that stood out so strongly against everything else. I still think he's produced consistently the best stories of the revival, some other authors have produced individual stuff as good if not better, but also far worse stories that Moffat's "worst" as well.

Moffat was the brain child behind "The Doctor, The Widow, The Wardrobe."

Its hard however to argue with someone who things it should be inevitable, So i just enjoy what i have in the show now before everything changes. You're comparing eventually, at some point in the future, getting a lady to play the Doctor, to being executed by firing squad?

As for my terrible opinions... I've learned to only "express" them once every few weeks. If anyone here agrees with me, they are smart enough to keep it to themselves.

I'm going to level with you here, mostly because I've expressed this opinion before a billion threads back when we were waiting for Capaldi to be announced.

I do not believe a woman should be the Doctor-Under Moffat's Writing.

He has shown, on every level and at every turn, that he doesn't know and wouldn't be able to handle, how to write a woman character. Every thing he has put forward proves to me that he would drop the ball as hard as humanly possible and we'd get the second coming of Colin's TV run. Only with more cringing.

Remove him and the doors open wide, however. Because really, why the Hell not? Can't be worse than what we've had before.

I need to get back to my Third DoctorAthon some time soon. Real life has derailed it, helped in no small part by the Mutants being....just really lifeless. I can't believe how much I do not care. Slogged through it though and the Time Monster seems to be an upswing though I'm only fifteen minutes into the first episode. But hey, Sexist Obviously Fake Identity Master is best sign of a good episode. I remember hearing that the TARDIS interior for this one was especially dreadful, so I'm curious if it's going to be worse than the ones they've had up til now. What was with the Third Doctor and paper walls?

I'll admit, I will never understand that.

Like, the lady isn't unattractive or anything, but she just...looked like a teen on the show. About 16, 17 at the most.

And more over, there were other inarguably more attractive companions who came before her.

Was it just that most of the Wilderness Era Who fans grew up with her and latched onto her due to puberty and bullshit? Otherwise I really do not understand. I mean, come on, we had THIS!

It's been on my to do list for awhile now. Maybe after The Time Monster I'll take a small break and check it out.

I really wish that the proposed crossover did happen. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, in Blake's 7 there were these unknown alien threats that were super dangerous to everyone involved. Originally, they were going to be revealed to be none other than...The Daleks.

I just love the idea of the Daleks showing up in other BBC Sci Fi programs and loving poo poo up.

It is always unfair to me to label anything from the Fourth Doctor's era as the best, because he simply is The Doctor.
