I'm so glad this is back. I like the thread title too, Tusk was amazing in the pilot episode, great chase music. Here are some images to spice up the OP. The main banner can replace 'What Is This?' while the he three custom headers can replace 'Who's Responsible?' 'Where did we leave off?' and 'What's coming up?' respectively. And while we're at it, some of the official posters: Edit: No worries, I wouldn't have done the writeup half as good. Just wanted to help out a bit. Edit2: I went ahead and made a cast banner, if you want to include cast pictures in the OP or not. drunkill fucked around with this message at 18:38 on Feb 22, 2014 |

"Yeah but Apollo 10 didn't land on the moon..." Amusing that that scene had Thomas P Stafford visiting Henry's school, as he was apart of Apollo 10 and the first Apollo-Soyuz mission (which was painted in the background) the first time the USA and USSR worked together in space. And then Elizabeth says "Well getting into space at all is very difficult" sure, the Russians never landed a man on the moon but they were winning the space race up until 1968.

AAA DOLFAN posted:Watched pretty quick - what happened to that other couple? They were murdered by... who? It was pretty shocking to walk in the room and see them too, I feel bad for that son :bummed: I wasn't expecting Mad Max to be mentioned, overall a very good episode, I could tell the budget went up this season when they had a helicopter tracking shot at the start of the episode.

Where was that Central American agent from? Was it supposed to be about the El Salvador civil war? I don't know my history of the area too well during the cold war. Construction on the first Buran started in 1980 and the first completed craft rolled out in 1984 so I find it hard to believe that the FBI wouldn't have heard some rumblings about it either from the Russians or from the CIA by then. Unless it was a joke, already knowing the Russians were building their own space shuttle.

I want to know what car they get as a replacement (considering episode 8 is titled 'New Car') I wonder how the FBI will be dragged into this attempted kidnapping, if it is Mossad protecting him, the identity of Phillip and Elizabeth are probably safe from Beeman for a little while longer.

For a moment at the end there I thought Leonid was going to try to throw himself overboard the ship or hang himself. Sucks for him. Why was the episode longer? Why can't all episodes be ~50 minutes and be HBO length?

Good news indeed. It seems FX want something to continue on once Justified finishes up, which is great. This was a fun episode, quite a few threads being followed in this one, I'm wondering how the Russians will connect to the ARPANET, install a sneaky line to a different office inside the university or splice a wire somewhere down the line. Edit: VVV I'm hoping it is just a one off mini-series, it was made as that, keep it as that. drunkill fucked around with this message at 08:58 on Apr 10, 2014 |

Sadly, no. Although many other FX shows are on Netflix so it may go up sometime, unless Hulu have exclusive rights.

That dream sequence was amazing. Martha pocketing files in broad daylight was a laugh and we got a few more seconds of Vlad TryAgainBragg posted:Just finished the first episode, glad I waited this long to get into it. Now I have two full season to marathon. Seriously just aces all around, great casting and I'm genuinely intrigued by the family dynamic contrasted with 80's cold war paranoia. It also helps that Phillip and Elizabeth are stone-cold badasses, ending the episode with Phillip in the dark with the pistol as Mr.FBI leaves was pretty great. The first episode is still really solid. I was sold within the first six minutes or so when they failed to extract the guy. Gonz posted:Without Philip's blessing, Elizabeth goes to turn Paige to their cause, only to find out that the Mossad recruited her TWO YEARS AGO. Season 4 is going to be off the hook with twists and turns!

Unfortunately not. FX only seems to have a few shows up on Netflix, hopefully The Americans gets up one day and helps boost the popularity of the show, before it ends would be nice. I think it might be up on Amazon Prime but don't quote me, I don't have it so I can't check.

Casting news: Richard Nixon joins the KGB! Frank Langella to be the new handler. http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/10/16/frank-langella-to-appear-on-the-americans/ "Langella will play “Gabriel,” Philip and Elizabeth’s previous KGB handler, who emerges from retirement to assume duties from Margo Martindale’s Claudia. Seems Claudia may not even appear due to Margo Martindale's schedule conflicts.

This is back next week, DivisionPost are you going to make a new thread? I'd be willing to make one for S3 sometime this weekend if you don't have time/don't want to. Probably not too hard to update the OP of this season 2 thread with some new information on a blank slate for discussion. Edit: VVV Alright, cool, I'll knock something up in the next few days. If anybody wants to contribute just post in here and I'll try work stuff in. Also, thread titles what should it be? This one is great but we should probably mix it up, S3 is based around Brezhnevs death, a pun involving that? I don't know. drunkill fucked around with this message at 14:39 on Jan 22, 2015 |

The Americans S3: Wig Simulator 1983 Anyone want to help condense down these season 2 plot points? Doing this first because it'll probably be the bulk of the OP, do note it is 2am so they are pretty bad at the moment, will have to add in a bit about the Jared storyline as that seems to carry over to S3.
I'll probably just try to boil it down to the main season plot points and find a season 2 recap video.
