Big Daredevil sale on ComiXology through Thursday.

https://www.comixology.com/comics-sale?list_id=34261&lang=1

I finally got copies of the entire Waid/Samnee run.

If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend that and/or the two volumes of the current Zdarsky run which are on there.

Jinkies! DC are offering a bunch of their Scooby-Doo comics for free on digital stores for a while on account of that new movie coming out.

quote:

Scooby-Doo Comics Available for Free on Digital Retailers Starting on May 15:

SCOOBY-DOO (1997-2010) Issues 33-84
Shaggy, Scooby, Fred, Daphne, and Velma are back, ready to solve strange cases, unmask dastardly villains, and, in Shaggy and Scooby's case, find as many reasons as possible to chow down on some food and get a taste of some Scooby Snacks!

SCOOBY-DOO TEAM-UP (2013-) Issues 1-99 & Vol. 1-6
Scooby and the gang face new adventures when they work together and with new DC friends along the way. The team-up for justice is always exciting.

SCOOBY-DOO, WHERE ARE YOU? (2010-) Issues 40-103
A monster in the mirror? A ghoul in a school? Scooby and his friends will solve the mystery and catch the creepy crooks-who would have gotten away with it, if not for those meddling kids.

They mean that almost every digitally-available comic is being offered free. Apocalypse is digitally-available, but is not included in the free collection.

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed shitposting.

Just FYI for anyone trying to get these in Comixology, at least in the Android app, don't forget the hyphen in Scooby-Doo. Only searching for "scooby" or searching for "scooby doo" will only find the Scooby Apocalypse series which isn't free. (This feels like karmic justice for every time I called someone out for forgetting the hyphen in Spider-Man)

Secretly force socialism, communism and imperialism types of government onto the people of the United States of America.

Anyone have any guidance on what's worth buying in this Humanoids sale on comixology? I'm kind of an alt/euro comics neophyte (my main knowledge is from seeing Brandon Graham's Instagram stories) but i've heard good things about Metabarons and Black Incal. At $.99/volume I'm inclined to just get whatever's good.

edit: I also noticed there's a fairly sizable X-Force sale going on. Same question (my experience with X-Force is limited to reading a bunch of Cable & Deadpool volumes when I was a teenager)

If the Remender run is in there it’s one of my favourite runs, top tier stuff.

The big Humanoids bundle on groupees that was posted earlier in the thread is still available if you wanted to just grab that instead. I haven't read any of them yet so can't really say what's good or not, but there's a lot of Metabarons and Incal in there amongst a bunch of other stuff.

Incal and Metabarons are the obvious picks, like you said.

Armies 1 is short stories about an unstoppable Roman army that keeps being tripped up in small ways. Books 2 and 3 is a single story in that world, about a single soldier who tries to raise his own army. It’s a little mythological, a little biblical.

Screaming Planet is short stories around an angry asteroid that causers trouble whenever it skips near a planet.

Madwoman of the Sacred Heart is religious and weird, even for eurocomics. I don’t really know how to describe it.

Oh drat, I forgot about that bundle! Perfect.

And thanks, Retro, looks like the Remender X-Force run is there in two volumes. I'll pick those up.

Boring. If I described a play by play of what happens and some of the visuals it might not sound boring, but that's what it was.

How good is the Fire tablet for reading comics? I imagine it's got to be decent, seeing as Amazon own Comixology. But can you use Marvel Unlimited on it? (Is there an app?)

Yeah! It works great for Marvel Unlimited. I use mine with Ubooquity and the Kuboo app to stream comics from my PC (Humble Bundle ones, for example). The only thing that is lacking is a sleek Plex like interface that tracks read/unread easily.

The app isn't available on the Amazon app store, but it's easy to sideload the Google Play store and then install it. Once you get it on there though it's all good.

Yeah, I'm going to probably go that route. I just wonder how well you can be a "weekly" reader with Marvel Unlimited. That'll be the one thing I'll miss, is getting a 10ish comics a week to read.

Also, I saw there's a 10" that wasn't part of the sale, and now I'm going to wait until Prime Day or whatever and hope that it is on sale then. Seems like I should spring for the extra screen size if the main reason for buying one is for reading comics.

I wrote a thing that helps with that -- has unread/in progress/finished indicators for individual books and entire directories, "mark whole directory read/unread" button, replaces the "new comics" button at the top level with a "resume last" button that jumps you to whatever folder you were in last time you were reading, and has some improvements to the actual reader interface.

This only works with the actual web UI, though, not separate clients like kuboo.

The Black Panther Epic Collection is a must-read for the Don McGregor stories. Some of it's on MU but I'm not sure about all of them.

Keep an eye on Komga it's early in development but it is basically Plex for comics. Open source as well. I tested it out and then switched from ubooquity because it's what I've been looking for. No native apps yet, but devs are working on them.

No problem, I was really happy to come across it, even at this early stage it's what I was looking for in ubooquity right out of the gate.

Yay! It should work in any violentmonkey/greasemonkey/tampermonkey style browser extension (don't forget to edit the @include line at the top to match the URL to your ubooq server), or you can inject it server-side using a reverse proxy like nginx.

You'll need to make sure that "store bookmarks in cookies instead of the server" in the Ubooq advanced admin settings is off (which I think is the default setting); it relies on the server-side bookmark data to tell which books have been read.

yeah from the looks of things this is like a brand new app. hopefully they eventually get around to making a general interface for it so i can do things like checks notes quit the program lol

Yeah, there are a few little hiccups that I've come across, but progress seems steady and from the talk on the discord server and the github it seems that the developer is working towards exactly what I want so I'm optimistic.

Well, I'm just starting digital comics (or will be with any new series going forward) since I have a daughter on the way. So this thread was useful to me in the last week or two for that kind of info. Assuming this whole site doesn't get ditched.

The OP is a bit out of date, but feel free to ask if you got a Q! I just don't think the discord or whatever is going to have a digital comics section and I'm not going to push for one.

I say sign up for the comiXology newsletter if you want to be on top of their sales, but you'll get about 1 email per day.
