THIS is how you do sales, Marvel - well done. Like 750 pages of comics for My first purchase in a long time since I usually read on MU.

I use the DH app on a retina iPad and I think the comics look fine, so definitely check it out with a sample comic if you are considering the Hellboy megabundle. Also if/when they add HD comics I'm sure they will allow you to grab the higher res versions of whatever you already own.

If you have the money, that's a hell of a package for 99 bux. One of the best digital deals I think I've seen. There are also some Captain America tpbs marked down from 9-13 bux down to $3.99: https://www.comixology.com/Captain-America-Collections-Sale/page/1379

Fun fact that rule by Apple was put into place to stop Dark Horse from offering comics at $1.49 if you bought them from their site instead of the Apple IAP. The DHD launch was significantly delayed because of it. Basically gently caress Apple and I'm glad comiXology made a move to divert profits from the middle man, hopefully to the creators/publishers.

I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon is getting ready to promote the Kindle Fire HDX as the premiere comics reading device now that they have comiXology in the fold. I guess it's annoying to people that buy comics from the app (I always just buy them from my PC and read them later) but Amazon is not going to pass up a chance to snatch 30% of comics profits away from their main competitor. As someone who's very deep in the Amazon ecosystem I'm excited to see what comes next. Maybe there will be free tpbs to borrow with Prime, or additional discounts.

petewhitley posted:Here's a very well-thought-out editorial (by Gerry Conway) on why the changes Amazon brought to ComiXology are so disappointing. Also as mentioned Apple could have easily been the one to snap up this company, and I'm pretty certain they would gently caress it up an order of magnitude worse than pulling IAPs from one platform.

Endless Mike posted:Ehhhhh not really. The classic ones were pretty violent and the current ones aren't really much better. I'd almost say they can be worse than superhero comics at times since writers aren't afraid to have robot get beheaded or whatever.
