Grandmother of Five posted:Bike questions It's not about whacking your crotch on the top bar. It's because of how statistically male and female bodies are shaped. Women tend to have shorter torsos and longer legs, compared to their body height, than men. Not all bikes for men and women are shaped differently, but for the ones that are, if you take into account the height of the bike, the seat on a woman's bike with a slanted top bar will have a higher seat. The seat on women's bikes are also wider, to account for differences in the pelvic bone and comfortable seating positions. The handlebars on women's bikes also tend to be slightly less widespread, because of, again statistically, less widespread shoulder span. It also tends to be less length between seat and handlebars. So, all in all, when the frame of the bike is different, it's more about the general body shape of a person, less about the bits they might smack onto the top bar. Which hurts pretty loving bad no matter what you're packing, or the shape of your bike frame.

Lead out in cuffs posted:Look at all these noobs who don't know that you adjust the seat height and size your entire bike so your bits will never slam on the top tube. To be fair, they're also good for people like me, who have somewhat limited mobility. My hip joints are kind of hosed, and while I can walk and bike well enough, it can be difficult for me to get my leg over a diamond frame. Also, if you're riding a bike in a skirt, you're going to want a gear case and a skirt guard, not just a bike on its own.

As far as I know (and it's been a while since I took a sex and gender psychology course) there is no known human culture that lacks an incest taboo. It is what's considered incest that varies.

There was a lot of usage of herbs (such as pennyroyal and rue) as abortifacients, and a whole bunch of those are liable to gently caress your poo poo up if you get the dosage wrong. There's also evidence of pessaries made of all everything from resin, to various plant matter, to crocodile dung. The pull-out method was also very popular basically worldwide. Silphium is a bit up in the air, since we don't know what it actually was and it miiiiight be extinct. That and they attributed basically every medical use under the sun to it at some point. It might have had some contraceptive or abortifacient properties to it, might not have. We don't even really know why it potentially went extinct, and it was most likely a combination of factors like overharvesting and desertification.

two fish posted:Why did they think it was a good idea to insert fecal matter into the vagina? Ancient medicine was pretty....buckwild from our modern perspective. There's a lot where we know something was done, but not why. It's often a mix of folk magic, ritual magic, pattern recognition with certain plants and materials having certain effects, and "Who the gently caress knows why they believed this, but at least some people did."
