TealShark posted:Oh, let's just say "cabin depressurization" and call it a day. Because otherwise, the goon that suggested the plane would rise up from under the field at the Super Bowl Halftime Show is starting to look like the most rational choice. Flew to Atlantis and landed on a submersible runway/airdock.

Makarov_ posted:Wall Street Journal has an article up claiming "engine monitoring data", which I assume means ACARS messages, continued to be received for four hours after the plane's transponder signal was lost. That puts its possible location in a circle with a radius of 2200 nautical miles from its last known position. FYI clicking the WSJ link in the tweet seems to bypass the paywall.

From my basic understanding Malaysia and a few other countries got caught with their pants down logistically concerning air traffic. And from there they kinda bumbled their way through press conferences while trying to pull their pants up. Malaysia is also not used to international press getting in their faces so there's a bunch of drama with the families that goes with that. IE: the US has laws requiring airlines to divulge information during disasters. Its not the same in other countries. Chinatown fucked around with this message at 09:36 on Mar 24, 2014 |
