Don't you just hate when you wind up in a store with people who are in a socioeconomic class that is pretty obviously about two levels lower than your own?

I should try that with the DECwriter IV

Upgraded to the latest Fedora. GNOME 42 works great and looks even nicer than the previous version. I know it's fashionable to poo poo on GNOME ever since 3.0 came out but I like it a lot. Blows my mind that something this pretty and functional is just given away for free.

Mp3 has been part of fedora for ages now.

I think you still need rpmfusion for some of the other formats though.

Debian still having trouble with merged /usr

i mean, idk, the headaches only exist to me as a debian user if i go read lwn.net about it, whereas for the ibm fans on fedora the breakage of just doing things becomes their reality on each upgrade

/usr merge is also great for portability, if you hate it with as much of a fiery passion as lennart poettering does.

the original developers of unix ran out of space on their 20(?) MB system disk and new programs had to start spilling over into the user home directory disk and it is very important that nothing ever change for any reason ever

we need a separate / filesystem containing a "rescue" environment that is so crippled as to be useless. initrds and live boot disks don't count, if those things didn't exist in the 70s then they are heresy

Electron is for people too lazy to make a proper cross platform gui in QML.
