discrete GPUs will be a thing but the lower end has been/is being destroyed by other things (mostly intel's onboard graphics)

it's similar to laptops and netbooks with the latter going away as tablets become popular

how does these things compare to like the profits of steam actually SELLING games?

I'm scared, I read once the They Bleed Pixels developer say he got far much more money with the virtual trading cards than the game sales but I don't know if that's a normal thing

valve takes like 30% of each game sold but 2% of each steam market transaction, they make a ton more on the latter

i know nobody burns cd/dvds anymore, but burning in the mid-late '90s was a pain in the rear end, even with a scsi burner you couldn't do anything else while it was burning.

i forget who but a desktop manufacturer had a (then) amazing demo about how you could play two videos simultaneously on a machine that didn't cost $5,000

but you can't quantify build quality therefore you should just build your tablets out of plastic poo poo and then return the added value to the shareholders

nice work exemplifying the point about backwards compatibility, software build on gtk2 is likely still far more valuable than gtk2 itself, gtk3, and all software on gtk3, put together. good work throwing out a bunch of value for your own loving convenience and ideals gtk devs

in the context of backwards compatibility, the value of software on [Version X] is the cost to move it to [Version X+1], not the revenue it actually generates

I guess most of the chinese people don't view their own censorship from a western perspective so probably not.

most people don't care or don't encounter the censorship in the first place

the people who do can find ways around it, but aren't dumb enough to loudly proclaim it

besides, the most popular western media is tv shows which aren't exactly of the "free tibet" variety as of late
