I noticed there's not a thread for it, so I figured I'd start one.
I recently started listening to The Bone Zone a few months back when I ran out of new stuff to listen to (primarily episodes of Uhh Yeah Dude) and found that this filled in that listening hole pretty well.
http://www.bonezonepodcast.com/
I don't know how to describe The Bone Zone for people who haven't listened to it, aside from describing it as two guys (formerly 3) who are kind of antagonistic towards other people, have excellent comedian guests and occasionally prank call businesses or other people. They also frequently feature a guy who has released something like 16,0000 various songs on spotify but primarily loves to sing about bodily functions. You can pretty much jump straight into any episode and have fun with it, though I recommend the Jack Black one (http://allthingscomedy.com/contents/1411/21-bone-zone-%2350-jack-black-podcast), any appearance that Matt Farley (the guy with 16,000 songs) makes (http://allthingscomedy.com/contents/3968/21-bone-zone-%2398-matt-farley-in-studio-%28season-%232-ep-%2329%29-podcast), Brent Weinbach's appearance (http://allthingscomedy.com/contents/4003/21-bone-zone-%2399-brent-weinbach-%28season-%232-ep-%2330%29-podcast). Pretty much if you're into an alternative comic and they've made an appearance on here, it's worthwhile to listen to. They hang out with a large amount of people from the current alt comedy scene and get really weird conversations going on.

Here's a prank call where they called in sick to Red Lobster:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdtXRKU2I14
Here's a clip from them doing dueling Duncan Trussel impressions:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO5hCrnRbs4
Here they are prank calling The Spice Channel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-pXdwYV8iY
I don't know much about Brendan Walsh's stand up career aside from him opening for Doug Stanhope for a number of years and Randy Liedtke is primarily known for pranking people on twitter and baking a cookie in the shape of an iPhone to screw around with police officers. I find it enjoyable while I'm doing mindless organizing at my job.

It was actually Kravitz, I think. If you looked him up on twitter there's some photos of him and Randy hanging out.

Check out the Home Zone episodes if you haven't. They started making them after leaving Deathsquad and are mostly plays.

e: Woah, I just realized that the picture is actually their faces with eyeballs popping out and not mushrooms which I somehow thought because I only see it as a tiny thumbnail.

I didn't know there was a thread, it shouldn't die because the Bone Zone is the best. It's one of my new favorite shows.

I want to add that any episode with Melissa Villasenor is pretty rad and you should listen to it. There are several of them by now.

This is from a little while back, but I really recommend episode #49 with Rory Scovel (http://allthingscomedy.com/contents/1390/21-bone-zone-%2349-podcast), which I think manages to maintain the perfect level of silliness throughout the entire episode.

Oh hell yeah, Melissa Villasenor is back on today's/yesterday's show. e: wait it's a repost of an old one. It's the one where they use a lie detector on a phone sex line though, it's a great one.

This was what got me started on the show, Rory was perfect for the podcast. Someone in the Todd Glass show thread mentioned it, and that episode is like a Todd Glass show if they never stopped and Todd didn't derail the bits every 10 seconds.

If you listen to any more Bone Zone episodes from around that time period, they were still kinda doing the standard "hang out and shoot the poo poo" thing that a lot of podcasts do, but since then it's evolved into it's own weird thing.

Recommending the Johnny Pemberton episodes to go with the Rory Scovel suggestion.

Hell yeah Johnny Pemberton's always great on the show.

I listened to the Melissa Villasenor episode that was just reposted again anyway and those two bearded goofs have to be the only people simultaneously dumb and genius enough to come up with prank calling phone sex lines. And also managing to make it really funny. Also I think it's costing Brendon like 3-4 bucks a minute or something.

If you go back to episode 91 I think that's where they started doing it.

Deathsquad? So Redban? I like Walsh and Liedtke, but Redban is a comedy black hole that sucks the funny out of the room. Is he third mike or something?

No Redban, just those two weirdbeards and usually a comedian guest doing their thing. I'm not sure why they're on the Deathsquad network, it's just one of those podcast network things. I haven't listened to many of the Deathsquad podcasts or whatever, but I don't think they have much in common.

WHY SEE ESS
Sep 12, 2006
The Bone Zone was originally on the Deathsquad network, and to be fair there were quite a few that were really funny. There was one where Stanhope calls in and another where they pretended Dr. Davey actually died and his "sister" came in and talked about his life. I don't know what specifically happened but there is a podcast that Redban does called the Ice House Chronicles where they do a podcast while doing a live stand up show and during one of them Brendan rips into Redban and calls him a terrible comic for a good minute or two (to be fair he is terrible and only gets gigs because of his status with Joe). I don't know for sure but I'm fairly certain that was the falling out between Redban and Brendan and shortly after that the Bone Zone was off Deathsquad.

Does anyone know why Dr. Davey left? I've listened to a few episodes and it's good but I thought it was the best with the original 3.

I didn't even know they were off Deathsquad, I'm not surprised that Brendon may have gotten into it with someone over there.

Nick Thune was a really good guest, he fits in perfectly on the show.

Hands down one of my favorite comedy podcasts ever. I'd probably rank the three I listen to like this-

1.) UYD, 2.) The Bone Zone, 3.) MBMBAM

I remember being bummed when Davey left and I really do feel like listening to a lot of those Bone Zone eps where it's the three of them, because they were great...but the Bone Zone is still hilarious, luckily, just different sometimes.
Really almost any episode involving Villasenor or Johnny Pemberton is hilarious (especially when Pemberton does some dumb freestyle).
The nature of them just shooting the poo poo and trying to be random/silly means there are definitely moments/misses where it doesn't really work, but their hits are just great.

Some of my favorite moments off the top of my head are the pocket of the clown episode, Moshe Kasher's Mexican voice, most of the stuff involving Brendon's "underage girlfriend", and Pemberton's "closing time" freestyle. Also all the dumb random stuff they used to do with Davey like their Vietnam flashbacks and dream sequences.
And obviously all the lie detector/sex line stuff, and calling in to boss around Hugo Boss and random store managers at places with Assertive Bossy Brendon.

Redban wasn't ever really funny to me though, I'm not familiar at all whatsoever with Deathsquad or Redban or any of that stuff outside of the Bone Zone and hadn't heard of any of that stuff pre-Bone Zone but for me he was just this guy with a dumb nerdy voice who'd throw in tryhard stuff from time to time. Sort of like an awkward-voice chiming-in guy who didn't really add any humor to it.

so continuing with the kravitz episode a while ago. brendon says dave 'foo fighter' ghrol is a listener and wants to be on the podcast, but randy said no?
Also brendon said he could have had stanhope on, but didn't want to bother him, i think that would be good fun.

I never know what's real with these guys sometimes, that's part of what makes the podcast so great. Randy did act pretty weird every time Brendon brought up Dave Grohl, and Randy actually legitimately seems to know/hang out with Lenny Kravitz so I have no idea.

Yeah, I mean usually it's pretty obvious to me what's real and what isn't but there are certain Randy v. Brendan moments where I wonder (not the Foo Fighters thing though).
Some good episodes lately, I remember chuckling at Brendan talking about his Wikipedia and getting annoyed enough about edits on it to make a wiki account...since I admittedly had a hand in editing dumb stuff into it from time to time (like Johnny's fake bio of Brendan that one episode).

I wonder if they'll ever have Davey on as a guest.
Probably not, I guess.

did anyone else watch the livestream podcast with johnny pemberton last week? went for almost 3 hours and had some great phonecalls to sizzler (with the ranman dobbing in ol BW for stealing the sizzler sauce) calling CVS (to apologize for brendon eating candy without paying for it. Brendon was egging randy on to ring the cops and report him, but randy didn't have the guts).
they also took some calls from listeners (with some of the classic 'your in the bonezone bitch' wakeup calls) and they riled up trussell on the phone.
good times, I hope they keep doing the live stream (keep an eye on their twitter feeds to see when they are going to be on - there was not much warning for this one)

I caught some of it, I didn't know it was on when it was though. That streaming service they were using was kind of a pain to use too, it kept cutting off every time I tried to move the window. I emailed them to suggest using twitch, then realized a few minutes later that twitch is only for video games, like the big dumb nerd I am. I know there are other streaming sites out there to suggest, but I can't think of any.

I wish they'd ditch Soundcloud so they could stop worrying about episodes being pulled from there. It seems like that place has some ridiculous rules, if you're commenting about the song as it's playing and only playing parts of it it should be covered under fair use. Then again I'm no lawyer, although my neighbor is
