Welcome to Games! The last thread was long, so I'm writing a new one for easy reference. Imagine these not as hard and fast rules, nor something to be enforced like a legal system, but as goals for both the readers and the moderation to meet. As always, remember, standard forum rules apply here! Can I post a thread about... Megathreads are dull. As long as it's about videogames in some shape or form and doesn't belong in any of the other games subforums, feel free to post it. Warez, Emulation, and Grey Areas: Don't link to or distribute illegal or shady stuff on SA. Easy. Low content posting: At heart, we want you to meet effort with effort. When you work hard on making every post worthwhile, you make the forum worth reading. This isn't about length either. 99% of the time, if someone told a joke, that was effort, so don't report people just because they made a short post. A low content post is something that has nothing to do with the topic, like posting a single period or something equally useless. If you don't want to make any effort, DDRD is the gaping void which steals away time and meaning and leaves us without purpose. It'll also abide your bad posts with the same pitiless indifference of the cold, glittering stars. Games Criticism: Videogames are fun! They also can be really lovely, sometimes for reasons that have nothing to do with how fun they may be, and it's worth accepting that. When you're posting about games, keep in mind that: 1. Someone can criticize your favorite game without criticizing you for liking it. 2. Someone can enjoy a game while also acknowledging how awful other parts of it can be. Don't get so invested in a game that you shout down anyone who says a bad thing about it and don't get so invested in a game having bad things that you need to shout down anyone who might enjoy the game. Okay? Okay. Console Warriors: Buying a PS4 or playing on PC doesn't make you a member of a special tribe. Playing Dota doesn't make you better than playing League. Don't be the guy who defines himself with his purchasing decisions. Don't kill other people because they prefer something else. Media is content! Go ahead and post fanart, videos, and such media without any other content. That's content enough to justify posting! Just don't loving spam lovely meme pictures. Need help? Contact any mod! Feel free to PM any mod with questions or minor requests like fixing tags or titles. But do us a favor and link your thread so we don't have to search for it!
