So is this just the Hitmontop minigame from Pokémon Stadium 2 stretched into a full game?

Glare isn't the only non-electric paralyze move, Stun Spore exists and is learned by lots of Grass types and there's moves that paralyze as secondary effects such as Body Slam.. e: Man this Romhacker is an rear end in a top hat, that's a pretty bad difficulty curve. e2: What the AI is doing with that Agility is going "Hey, Oddish is Poison, Agility is Psychic, that's super effective!" without considering that Agility doesn't actually do damage. RBY's AI is pretty bad. Admiral H. Curtiss fucked around with this message at 14:05 on May 7, 2014 |

I'm thinking you shouldn't have gone with that romhack, it seems like an rear end in a top hat made it.

Please upscale that footage to 720p or more before uploading, it's really blurry thanks to how Youtube handles sub-HD footage.

That sound effect in the Rogue section was from the turtle, not from Rogue. And yes, you can only get three hints from TVs per emerald, it doesn't matter which TV it is. You can pause to re-read hints.

General controls tip for Sonic Adventure 2: For some reason, they designed it as a two-button game. A is always "jump" and B/X is always "action". Y cycles through the available actions. If you're ever not exactly sure what to do to do a thing you know should be possible, hit Y a bunch and look at the button in the corner.

Shady Amish Terror posted:A handful of the useful powerups can be entirely missed. While annoying, you can always go back into the level in Stage Select and get the upgrade there. The only optional one you should really have is the one in Knuckles' Aquatic Mine, the rest you can do without.

Once you understand how the level works, this is probably actually one of the easier Rogue levels. It's small and most of the emerald locations are clearly defined -- in the middle of a safe. Of course, as a first time player, you wouldn't know, and the game doesn't really tell you, which makes it rather frustrating.

Iron Chitlin posted:Is there a point to doing anything with the loving Chao babies? Their stats go up when you feed them, but what is the point of these stats? There's two minigames you can play with Chao (race and karate), the stats matter there. The Chao system is surprisingly extensive despite not really having any actual point to it, think of it like an extended tamagotchi or something. And I still like the game in spite of all its faults and play a Sonic stage or two every once in a while, but to be fair I did play it back in 2002 or whatever when it came out for the Gamecube, so my childhood memories might be screwing with me. Oh, and obligatory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esKgAs_FDPs (Tapping the acceleration button allows you to drift, and the game never bothers checking/resetting your facing until you face one direction for too long, which allows this.) There's five stages per character, except for Sonic/Shadow which split up at six Sonic and four Shadow. Categorizing them per type, there's: - 10 running levels (Sonic and Shadow) - 9 mech levels (five Eggman and four Tails) - 9 hunting levels (five Knuckles and four Rogue) - 2 kart racing ones (Tails and Rogue) So yes, it's all in your head. Your "extra go-fast thing" is called a spindash. Admiral H. Curtiss fucked around with this message at 17:03 on Sep 22, 2014 |

I think Danaru is actually right for once, I don't think rings matter for Shadow in the boss fight, he just does his stuff when he gets ahead.

David D. Davidson posted:It's about on par with adventure 2 in terms of gameplay. It's just that everything else is loving dumb and the game is amazing for it. From what I've played of it, which is admittedly not much, it's really not. The level design is significantly worse and they force you to do in-mission objectives like "defeat every enemy!" which is not very fun.

All-Out Attacks are Almighty-elemental, which is separate from Physical. If you know the All-Out isn't going to kill, it might be more beneficial to hit the enemy again to get them Dizzy, possibly making them waste their next turn. Using an All-Out Attack also uses up the free turn you would normally get from knocking down an enemy, so there could be a tactical tradeoff there for buffing/debuffing/healing purposes. But yes, most of the time, you want to go all-out.

When Grace was off-screen for a while there she was just floating as Kirby, as in his completely regular press-up-to-fly form, which will always float to the top of a body of water. I don't know how she somehow never hit Y to exhale while trying to get back down.

Something that might have been helpful in that boss fight is that you can aim your Bomb throws. Hold down Y instead of just tapping it and a small diamond will appear and move along Kirby's side, from the right to the top. You throw the bomb in the direction of the current position of the diamond depending on when you release the button. You're never going to beat the Arena. (There's more.) Admiral H. Danaru posted:Before we begin, I want to take back everything bad I said about Sonic Adventure 2. They changed the voice cast since Sonic 06, for Colors. Currently we still have the voice cast introduced in Colors. They originally changed the voice cast from the one used in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 to the one in here to match the 4Kids dub of the Sonic X anime airing at the time. As you can probably tell, it didn't go over very well. Interestingly enough, Eggman is the only character they kept the voice actor from the 4Kids actors when switching to the Colors cast. He is different from the Eggman actor in SA1/2 though, as he sadly passed away in 2005. Admiral H. Curtiss fucked around with this message at 03:56 on Jan 9, 2015 |
