Is it even possible to get anywhere in Grimrock without this 2x2 boxstepping that shows up in every combat? As in, if you just facetanked and went toe-to-toe with enemies like it was a Final Fantasy game.

The amount of damage Chitlin tends to take when he gets hit indicates no, but at the same time, his inventory management indicates that his playstyle is not necessarily representative of how the game should be played.

It is designed to create box-stepping situations, that's intended function. It's a terrible idea, much like Grimrock in general.

Is it me or is this game somehow getting worse with each new mission? Why would Eggman blow up the moon? Why is there a half-assed driving section in the middle of the game? How does driving around a floating freeway several times let you catch up to Tail's plane? Was he just following the freeway with his plane? Is there a point to doing anything with the loving Chao babies? Their stats go up when you feed them, but what is the point of these stats?

People like SA2 right? This is the game everyone said was really good right?

gently caress this game.

People who say it is really good all played it when it came out and they were kids.

I've honestly considered it, but apparently there was no PC port, which means I'd actually have to hunt down a physical copy.

I streamed Sonic Epoch once and it is hard to explain in words just how lovely controlling the thing is. It's uniquely bad.

Yep! The purple one makes you tiny and gives you infinite jumps. The wind one gives you like a whirlwind attack I think. That's all I remember though. They all kind of suck except the purple one, as that's the only one that really does anything like break the game.

the... blue gem, i think, is also great because it lets you throw a gem and then teleport to it, no matter where it is or how far away it landed

Full disclosure: I unironically enjoyed Shadow the Hedgehog. It wasn't great, and the story is worth less than the paper the instruction manual is printed on, but damnit, I love am pretty fond of that game. And Danaru is making me want to pick up the GC version because my backwards-compatable PS3 junked last year.

if you have a wii or wii u you can homebrew-run it on that :)
