We have always been transparent with the bank about who we are, and what we do. Banking with them for almost ten years, we have never had anyone act cross about it, or question it. They have had our website address, we are fully licensed, and have strong, consistent deposit history. We pressed the matter with higher management, who seemed sympathetic to our plight and told us he would be in touch. We received the call from him today, and he said that they are closing our business account of almost ten years and we have 30 days to remove our funds and find a new bank.

I'm not sure how's it is even legal to refuse to do business with someone that is operating a completely legal business like that. I mean I understand that it is, but I guess I don't understand how it's allowed. Maybe try to contact some of the owners of the legal brothel's in Nevada and find out how they handle banking? Or some of the well known video/porn producing companies like Evil Angel, etc.?

Operation Choke Point is definitely the problem. It was just so shocking to have happen so suddenly after nearly ten years of positive banking history with them. I understand not giving us the loan, that is their money and their right to refuse it, sure- but to get a call from the VP of the bank telling us that we have 30 days to move our money elsewhere because we are "high risk" all of a sudden is some serious bullshit. Almost ten years of steady deposits, high rolling balances, and even referring people to the bank makes us "high risk" I guess. Don't worry, he told us he still values us as members of the bank and we can keep our personal accounts! What a jackass. It seems my only hope at the moment is Wells Fargo, they were the ones whom offered the adult stars accounts when the Chase mass closure happened last year. Lets hope my meeting with them today goes better than last week. I think the woman I met with was high. I think it boils down to whether your business is worth the risk. It sounds like Wells Fargo is going to work with you, but if that falls through I'd check out smaller local banks. Maybe something that has a state charter versus a federal. We had plenty of adult themed businesses at the community bank I worked for. It's possible the steady cash influx meant the bank didn't have to order as much currency from the Fed. It also meant we handled a lot of dollar bills that smelled of baby oil and desperation.

Stuff like this makes me wish I was richer than Bill Gates, just so I could throw all that money at lawyers to sue the government constantly for overstepping the authority granted to it. Huge pile of stinking bullshit that the DOJ can use their power to try to force specific types of business to close, when said businesses are perfectly legal. Sounds like something we would hear coming from countries that are run by religious leaders instead of politicians.

It'll probably never happen, but the sheer amount of stories about people being fired, evicted, refused service, and having children taken by CPS solely for being sex workers makes me wish that "employment in the sex industry" was protected under anti-discrimination laws.
