The main effect of this granting of injunctive relief, where the court acted unusually swiftly (and it seems Roberts has failed to constrain his "colleagues" on the right), is such: quote:This is the fifth time the Court has summarily rejected the Ninth Circuit’s analysis of California’s COVID restrictions on religious exercise. See Harvest Rock Church v. Newsom, 592 U. S. ___ (2020); South Bay, 592 U. S. ___; Gish v. Newsom, 592 U. S. ___ (2021); Gateway City, 592 U. S. ___. It is unsurprising that such litigants are entitled to relief. California’s Blueprint System contains myriad exceptions and accommodations for comparable activities, thus requiring the application of strict scrutiny. And historically, strict scrutiny requires the State to further “interests of the highest order” by means “narrowly tailored in pursuit of those interests.” Church of Lukumi Babalu Aye, Inc. v. Hialeah, 508 U. S. 520, 546 (1993) (internal quotation marks omitted). That standard “is not watered down”; it “really means what it says.” Ibid. (quotation altered).

adoration for none posted:Living in Oakland, every time I visit Marin County/San Rafael I think of Elysium and the space station for rich people sfd housing itself is real loving expensive but it's not like they're living some super loft high quality of life elite society. Peninsula/SV, Berkeley/Oakland Hills or LaMorinda Creek housing is pretty much just as expensive as a lot of marin housing. it's largely hoisted by their own petard but also a lot of geographical limitations. e: One thing though is that they're more isolated from their actions and ideology. They bus/move their homeless over to San Francisco (they have more resources! it's the only right thing to do afterall); and they have limited amount of apartments (and very little section 8 or other bmr options) and rather few nearby "poor" cities where there's often a greater writ-large income inequality and then geographically more isolated and there isn't really room for RV/tent-favelas, so they have less crime compared to that of east/south bay and therefore streets stay cleaner (but are still rundown) when there's less "inequality poors" around. but it's otherwise not like there's a great pristine high-tech functioning infrastructure society with great qol that's barred off, it's pretty lovely in so many ways with really the only pros being "really nice views". the extremes in marin are much more suburban than in SF or probably even the berkley/oakland hills. when driving for the not-a-taxis the only times i ever drove someone home who talked about driving their dad's porsche / letting their kid drive their porsche, it was in 1) the mid-peninsula and 2) west of 101 in marin e: whereas the extremes of wealth in other places in the bay area usually just mean they're in a taller building with a more poorly treated doorman OMGVBFLOL fucked around with this message at 08:00 on Apr 19, 2021 |

I was eligible weeks ago and searched for appointments every day before and after work and finally made my appointment on the 2nd and the earliest appointment they had was tomorrow. I work 9 to 7:30 monday-saturday so I just don't have the time and energy to go searching around for appointments so I set up the earliest one I could find, which was through Kaiser. Everyone I know that works from home or has a car is already vaccinated. I get that it's most important to just get shots in arms, but it's frustrating that being an essential worker that has to work a lot of hours in-person has meant that i'm getting my first dose weeks behind when I could have gotten it.

I live in Marin because my job is up here and it's a huge pain in the rear end seeing friends because public transit sucks up here.
