Here's today's ONE Friday Fights with the title fight. It was a very good show, as usual.
https://bocot.substack.com/p/one-friday-fights-9-2022-03-17

The show is located here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i14UA7SeLyk

K-1 posted all 24 fights from K’FESTA 6 today. I marked which ones were good, there were quite a few.
https://bocot.substack.com/p/tape-delay-kickboxing-17-k-1-world

If you only watch one:
(C) Tetsuya Yamato (44-20-1, 32 KO, -149-BK #8) vs. Kenta Hayashi (22-9-2, 14 KO) (143 Title)

In the main event of the night, 35-year-old Tetsuya Yamamoto looks to continue the feel-good story of winning the K-1 World MAX 2010 tournament and finally breaking through to win a K-1 title in 2022, the 17th year of his career. He attempts his second Super Light title defense against former K-1 Light champion Kenta Hayashi.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLDeUAiS3QM

But there are a lot more good ones, I starred 10 fights out of the 24.

Ok, here's a gym culture/organization question -- does Tiger Muay Thai train any Thai fighters, and do those use Tiger for their fighter names?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Muay_Thai

Obviously the gym has some extremely accomplished affiliates, but mostly foreigners, so does it cater to foreigners (and MMA) to a degree that they're not really putting out any Thaiboxing fighters?

quote:

Suphisara Konlak (Thai: สุภิสรา คนหลัก)

best known professionally as Loma Lookboonmee (Thai: โลมา ลูกบุญมี),

In boxing she has fought under the names
Kanda Por Muangpetch (Thai: กานดา พ.เมืองเพชร) and
Kanda Kokietgym (Thai: กานดา ก่อเกียรติยิม)
I can't find any details on the origins of Lookboonmee -- if that's a sponsor or external name in some way.
But she hasn't used Tiger or Bangtao in any way since being at those gyms.

What i remember is that tiger was a mostly thai gym, then it became a staycation/training vacation destination and mostly just caters towards farang way more than locals because of the pricing etc.

Is it one of those inner/outer gyms where the real fighters have access to the real coaching, and then the outer gym is just whatever training for people excited about seeing Volk walking around?

I know there's a UFC PPV on tonight, but if you're looking for something else (or reading this tomorrow or whatever), last week K-1 ran a traditional one night Grand Prix, and the fights got posted on Youtube today. Here are the links for the full tournament if you just want that classic kickboxing action:

AZABU PRESENTS K-1 WORLD GP 2023 ~First Middleweight Championship Tournament~

Middle Title Tournament First Round (1): Katsuya Jinbo (15-7-1, 8 KO) vs. Li Hui (18-5, 5 KO) (165) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg-ZwG_jlAo
Middle Title Tournament First Round (2): Danilo Zanolini (44-13, 24 KO) vs. Hasan Toy (44-12, 8 KO) (165) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWKndUejL80

Middle Title Tournament Semi-Final (1)
Middle Title Tournament Semi-Final (2)

Middle Title Tournament Final

In all the years of K-1 they've never had a middleweight champion (165 lb), so this is the first title and one of these guys will win 3 fights in one night to earn it. Almost all the fights are really good, well worth your time.

insanely blatant corrupt judging sending a fight to another round. hui won that fight and everyone knows it but lol just like old times.

Boco_T posted:

Middle Title Tournament First Round (2): Danilo Zanolini (44-13, 24 KO) vs. Hasan Toy (44-12, 8 KO) (165) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWKndUejL80

holy poo poo. firstly, zanolini looked three to five divisions smaller than middleweight. secondly, toy has a surprisingly low ko rate for someone who throws with the power he does. he throws way harder than the previous two and would beat either easily. i'm not giving him credit for ko'ing a bantamweight tho.

Boco_T posted:

lmao calling that a knockdown is almost as bad as the extra round. fantastic japanese officiating. shintaro is ok, but undersized. still he has the power of being japanese, so he's a dark horse for this thing.

Boco_T posted:

i'm looking at these fight numbers thinking 'how did this get sanctioned'? mike joe is probably not a superstar with a misleading record. ok 15 seconds into the fight and i think mike joe might have a few fights in a different sport. like mt. half way through and if the eventual winner isn't one of these guys i'll be extremely surprised. the correct result except for one baffling card from a judge.

well i definitely called the power difference. there is about 2 weight divisions between their strikes. hui putting in a real good showing despite that tho and considering he's already fought 4 rounds it's kind of amazing. toy looks like a completely different fighter. in his first fight he looked off balance and lost despite the brutal ko. this fight he looks way sharper. especially with this game plan of taking out hui's tired legs. hui looked like the last one got to him and was saved by the bell. wow. toy has zero killer instinct. hui did the fatality wobble about 8 times in that last round and toy just let him put enough pieces back together to continue. he will lose the final against either of the next two.

holy poo poo shintaro just threw a naked right hook to the body against and orthodox fighter. he is so lucky mustapha didn't throw the straight. sound design is amazing. i could really hear the impact on shintaro's penis and balls protector. holy poo poo. shintaro went crazy. i'd score that 10-7 because mustapha only went down once but was badly hurt like a half dozen times after that. his veteran grit is the only thing that kept him up. shintaro won by violence instead of being japanese.

before i see how this plays out, here's my thoughts: toy is the only real middleweight in this competition. mustapha and shintaro are both ww or big lw's. there is definitely a power deficit for shintaro, but he's way more aggressive and more skilled. he should win. let's see.

holy loving poo poo.

well, that was awesome. thanks.

It’s… actually happening? Ruleset kinda gimmicky given who’s involved

quote:

Kicks, punches, knees, and elbows are allowed, but trips and sweeps are not. Defensive clinch is a no-go, but fighters can clinch for a maximum of three seconds if they are attacking. As with all other BKFC bouts, the fight will consist of five two-minute rounds, and there is no three-knockdown rule
