Goon Danton posted:They had to hire someone to record those messages, in order to have them ready to go. I wonder what that would have been like for the person they hired. Going through life, knowing that you're the official voice of the end of the world, thanks to an old recording you did for some extra money however many years ago. I wonder what it would have been like for their kids if it happened. The UK version of this was Patrick Allen, who voiced the Protect and Survive public information films. When they were recording Two Tribes, Frankie Goes To Hollywood hired him to deliver the lines “Mine is the last voice that you will ever hear. Do not be alarmed.” Rascar Capac has a new favorite as of 02:56 on Dec 12, 2017 |

The Truman Show Delusion:quote:Since this was to be the highest-tech sailing bout ever, Kevin received a pair of Google Glass. A tool that at the time was lampooned by many in Silicon Valley and still not fully available to the public, the device could be used as a hands-free computer, able to capture video and photos and share the thrilling experience of what it was like to be on board. I was at 6th form college with a girl whose GP was Harold Shipman. We worked out that she was safe through being young and poor. I also never got to sleep with her despite really wanting to, but that’s not really relevant to the Shipman thing.

The Psychopath is not particularly dumbed down, but it’s a bit of a slog. I can recommend a lot of reading for anyone interested in psychopathy. Skip the DSM, because they’re still pretending psychopathy doesn’t exist. What did you make of Jon Ronson's The Psychopath Test?

Last year I was scrolling through Youtube when a video caught my eye. I opened it. In the video, a woman read out a text largely derived from a Wikipedia article I wrote five years ago, about an unsolved murder in which the victim's body was dismembered and left in suitcases. She whispered her way through the text because she was doing this as an ASMR. She paused a couple of times to apologise that the ASMR was so "deathy".

I remember years back a girl purposely hit another car head on to kill herself and survived and I'm pretty sure she killed both occupants of the other vehicle. Also have to remember that lots of suicides are an impulsive act with little in the way of planning.

Stoca Zola posted:Panorama Loop Trail looks a little more north and a lot west, it's further than anyone expected him to be and I don't think any one searched that far. They were searching based on his limited water supplies, and a cell tower ping that put Bill at a certain radius, and it seems he got much much further and not only that, the terrain is very very rough. Whatever happened, it doesn't match the parameters they were using to search. Most of the western search maps had Eureka Peak in their top left corner and Panorama Loop is significantly further north west than that. Thanks for that info. You're right that it looks like whatever happened, it wasn't really possible to second-guess what Ewasco was doing.
