I need some help, PYFRPPDSS. I have purchased a bunch of posters over the last 8 months or so, and am having some issues with them staying on the walls. I purchased a bunch of Modest Magnets, and they're functional but I have to go around the apartment every week and flatten them back up. My question is: are frames just like stupid expensive? Apparently the only $10 ones on planet Earth are from Walmart, and those have like a 50% chance of being destroyed on arrival, according to the online reviews. Do y'all have any cheapo frame recommendations? For content, related to the above question:

It gets you whatever mixed drinks you want, almost all the wine, any beer except Chimay and...wait... Muthafuggin Glenfiddich and Glenlivet. As much of it as you want. As much. As I wanted. I had a busy week purchase wise. The ones below are just for me: Sennheiser HD 518s because they're on sale at Amazon for $45, and I couldn't resist trying out some open-backed headphones that were so heavily discounted: Stands for these headphones: 6 port 2.4A each USB port for phones and sweet vapes: Handkerchiefs because I've been meaning to get some for years: Destiny Rise of Iron Preorder because it's a social platform for me and some friendbuddies and we like to kill alien scum: Ardbeg 10 year: Woodford Reserve, the gentleman's blackout fuel of choice: Habanero Sculpin...two six packs because they almost never make it to my town: New rice cooker, because this one can do dry beans in an hour, and those are much cheaper: Other stuff I couldn't/didn't want to get photos of: teas, groceries, sunglasses, cloth for sunglasses, and leather pouch for sunglasses. Books also like Slaughterhouse Five which was RAD, Seveneves by Neal Stephenson, and Gravity's Rainbow which I am quite excited to read next. And Father's day gifts. For two Christmases, having to pay up for two Father's Days isn't so bad. Got one dad a pair of cow horn tumblers and the stepdad a pizza rocker because he loves to make pizza and those disc cutters suck. It was my last paycheck from a boring office job, so I decided to make it get me poo poo I wanted. e: And one year ago today, I purchased my SA account, which has worked out. This thread alone has pointed me to some excellent purchases NewFatMike has a new favorite as of 04:25 on Jun 12, 2016 |

It's really good, and I'm not huge on IPAs. It's a well-balanced beer, but still leans towards the hops on its own. There isn't a load of heat or bite from the pepper, but it's there and it lingers a fair bit of time, it kind of makes you slow down some. You do get some of the taste from the fruit of the habanero as well. It's a little sweet, but there is a little vegetation in there. It all complements really well. I'm a real big fan, but I'm also into decently spicy stuff and tend towards the high end on buffalo wings and the like. I'd recommend giving it a shot if you're into spicy stuff, beer, or neato pairs. I need to find some Thai Chili Wahoo from Ballast Point, that remains my white whale of this year's beer offerings.

I had heard a lot of good things about mixing the grapefruit and the habanero 50/50, but I didn't think it was that great. Might do it for people who want to kill the heat a bit, though.

Trip report of some of the things I picked up and arrived today: First, the rice cooker is rad as all get out. I made some forbidden rice and kidney beans (fiberrrrrrrrr) in it. I dropped in 18floz of beans and 36oz of water and set it to simmer for 90 minutes. I think it needs 2n+1 units of water for each unit of beans, but they came out alright after I finished them on the stove with some onions and peppers. The brown rice setting worked great for my esoteric taste in staples, and the texture was quite good. Fit and finish is good, I really dig the press-release lid and it keeps all the goodness on the inside. I'm excited to check out the steamer. One of my favorite parts, though, compared to crappy rice cookers is that you can just turn it off rather than needing to unplug it from the wall every time. The Xtar U1 6 port USB recharging hub was also an excellent purchase. I use Xtar chargers to recharge my Li Ion cells for my sick , cybernetic fellatio devices, mouth fedoras, what have you so I know they have a great reputation. With 2.4 amps per port, my USB-C connected phone recharged quickly as do all my various and sundry electronics. I'm very happy with it, and it has a decently small profile. And I don't have a surge protector cluttered with ugly wall warts. Definitely going to be my travel companion. Lastly, the Sennheiser HD 518 headphones have been great. They're an excellent contrast to my closed-back studio monitor profile headphones that I've been using for the last year (Audio Technica ATH M40X). Having an open soundstage and favoring bass frequencies has been really really cool. I don't think they're better, just different. For instance, the bass on a lot of my songs can be overpowering, but it does a great job on a lot of rock, which I hadn't expected. They're very comfortable, too. The padding is light and well-suited for long listening sessions (or sitting at your desk for 14 hours a day like I'm doing these days). I don't like them as much as the M40Xs for things like podcasts and some YouTube videos because the wider soundstage amplifies echoes and the like, but it's an open rotation now. I'll be checking them out with some other stuff tomorrow. So far, I am very happy with my purchases now that they are materializing rather than being tracking numbers I F5 constantly.

Whelp, I just pulled the trigger on a bunch of purchases because some work stuff happened that will involve me traveling to China for a fairly extended period of time: Not pictured: passport picture and visa application fee ($175 total). $800 is more than I wanted to spend tonight, but this is stuff that I've been wanting to buy for a long time. I don't have a real camera and my backpack is falling apart, so I kinda need this stuff for work and travel. Once I get back, though, I have a few more things I want to purchase as well. Oy vey. Keep your fingers crossed for them big boy paychecks coming in.

Does anyone have any recommendations on routers/routers+modems? My budget is preferably under $200 with some flex for a modem combo/bundle (maybe $240?). I was going to pick up a Netgear Nighthawk, but I have enough issues with my printer already (unless those have been fixed by now). Much appreciated!

Ohmanohmanohmanohmanohman partial trip report/first impressions: I got my Goruck GR1 today and I am AMPED to bring this bad mama jama everywhere with me. It has the same footprint as my old Incase backpack, but holds so much more stuff. I only have it about 1/3 loaded, but it's already more stuff than my old backpack could ever hold. The laptop compartment graciously accepts my MS GS60 laptop and the fact that it opens all the way around allows for substantially easier packing. I am in love. It holds a bajillion of my Precise V5 pens (best pens), my books, camera, headphones, laptop, 3DS, chargers, and a bunch of other crap that I'm still trying to figure out what. I fear that my capability to carry it will be the limiting factor. I may even be able to get away with not packing a checked bag for my trip to China tomorrow. Incredible.

Tragically, I am a wimpy noodleboy, a pretty significant upgrade from my former drunk fatboy stage, but I'm really only remotely hardcore in emergency situations. That said, I need to buy a bunch of stuff so I can justify having this rad as hell backpack. Maybe I'll start re-translating The Aeneid while I'm in China. I'll need a few reference books and that should eat up the space.

The straps on them look too skinny to be comfortable at all. I will update at some point in the future - I'll be lugging it around 2 continents tomorrow. On a test fit to get my straps right, it was very comfortable. I didn't even notice how skinny the straps are. I think the plate against the laptop compartment helps a lot with distribution. I've also gotten to fiddling with the settings on my new real boy camera, I'm excited to take some pictures with it while I'm traveling. Also a favorite recent purchase are my tickets to get to China - with a few days' notice, I got exit rows my one way was $1040, so that's not a bad deal at all.

I generally carry 2x 40oz Hydroflasks to work in my current backpack but that is literally all I have room for and would like something bigger. I genuinely love my GoRuck GR1. I got the 26L one since I'm 6'1" and it has been awesome. I've got my laptop, camera, 3DS, chargers for everything, books, tools (smaller stuff like micro screwdriver and Torx kits, wire cutters, etc) Nalgene, dop kit, sunglasses case, and there's a ton more room in there. It's pricey, but the straps are super comfy, the firm plate between the laptop compartment and the main compartment helps with weight distribution, it stands up on its own, and it's really easy to pack. This is my third week of packing up more or less my entire life in it, heading to a factory, working 14 hours a day, and carting it all over Shenzhen. I think I'm going to have it for a long time and it's comfortable even when loaded up. NewFatMike has a new favorite as of 01:48 on Aug 1, 2016 |

Etrips posted:Dang $300 is pretty deep for a new backpack. Gotta amortize! My last backpack was $150 and has the same footprint as the 26L GoRuck. It lasted 5 years of bringing it everywhere every day. Cycling to work, bringing it between jobs, and more or less living out of it for my first two years out of college. It finally started to go real limp and frayed at the seams, so I couldn't really confidently carry anything in it. The GoRuck is twice the price, sure, but it'll last at least twice as long as the last one and in the same form factor can actually carry my laptop. Definitely worth the price difference. Like a good dad it's sturdy, firm, and supportive.

I got a Zojirushi Home Bakery to make some bread. I have run into a few issues and I think it's because I haven't refrigerated my yeast after opening it. That aside, homemade bread is tasty and cheap even with the nice flour and stuff. I also picked up some Glenfiddich Cask Reserve and Johnnie Walker Spice Road at the YYZ duty free shop. If a dog or cat shits on the floor the roomba may just smear it everywhere. I don't have a dog/cat/child/wife and scatology isn't an area of my study so I should be fine. And Chicago is a dramatic upgrade over North Carolina because I value public goods like municipal railways and the mob.
