Probably not. That was a very weird circumstance. Lucasarts licensed the AOE2 engine and put a Star Wars skin on it. Now, them experimenting with air units in the engine was interesting. Dunno whether that warrants a re-do.

I am both glad and not about this. Same thing with Age of Mythology. It's good that the old games are there for those who didn't have it. But I own the CD versions. Assuming I wanted to play multi, I'd have to buy the games again.
