But who would be the villains if not the Lakers or Celtics??

We already have the Heat, even if every other team were plucky, loveable underdogs the league would have a plenty good antagonist.

Im thinking
Cavs - Embiid or Saric bc Cleveland
Bucks - Wiggins
76ers - Parker
Magic - Randle
Jazz - Gordon
Celtics - Exum
Lakers - Smart
Kings - Vonleh
Hornets - McDermott
76ers - Saric
Nuggets - Lavine
Magic - Nurkic
Twolves - Stauskas
Suns - trade

Super unlikely the Magic take a big unless they're 100% he's a star, they've got a frontcourt logjam and badly need shooting and ball handling. It'll be Exum or Smart for them.

Yeah Paul George is a good comp imo. At the beginning of the year everyone was saying Tmac/Lebron but Paul George/Leonard got more popular towards the end of the year. I think Iggy is his realistic low-mid end comp and Paul George is a solid high-end comp.

Iggy's better than George, but yeah something like the super good George who played the beginning of this year except forever is the kind of thing you're hoping for.

They made the three-point line shorter from 94-95 to 96-97.

Except he went back to shooting .277 on about the same attempts the next year. Ceballos putting up a handful of 20+ PER and .180+ WS/48 seasons when he had no 3 point shot (even moved in, the one year aside) and couldn't get to the line consistently is one of the more remarkable anomalies of the mid 90s.

Hire a Boeheim assistant to teach this team the zone and bring us into a new dark age of defensive basketball. Do it Bucks I dare you.

Form a human wall across the court at the midcourt line, opposing team can take a heave or get called for charging  it's flawless

I'm falling in love with Stauskas and really hope he's available at 12. Orlando needs another shooter desperately and it seems like Stauskas is a very good passer and ballhandler for being primarily a shooter

Are you hoping we go big at 4 then, or thinking one of Stauskas/Oladipo becomes an off the bench combo guard?

I suspect McDermott will be disappointing but he'll be in the NBA for a while. Worst case scenario is James Jones. Plus a bust really needs to be in the top-10. If I had to vote now, declaring Exum a top-5 guy in this draft might seem stupid a year from now.

Yeah but Exum is one of those foreign mystery prospects, he fits a different draft archetype from the Adam Morrison obvious bust type. The hybrid, Jan Vesely type is rarely seen at under 7ft tall.

Why do I get the feeling he'll basically be Rodney Stuckey?

Probably because the last guy who was supposed to be Dwyane Wade was...Rodney Stuckey.

Joakim Noah, the entire 2008 draft basically

This forum was indeed super, super wrong about a ton of guys in this draft - almost everyone thought Love was an unathletic guy who dominated college competition Shelden Williams style, Westbrook was a no skills athletic freak who belonged in the late lottery, Lopez was a stiff (which is sort of true, I guess, but didn't stop him from being good), OJ Mayo was going to be great.

2008 turned out to be a really good class largely on the strength of a really good late 1st/2nd group of players. Knowing what we know now (i.e. Derrick Rose is dead) a redraft would look crazy. Something like...

Love
Westbrook
Ibaka
Lopez
Hibbert
Dragic
Anderson
Pekovic
Jordan
Batum
Gordon

and where do you take the Rose timebomb?

I bet a lot of GMs would draft Westbrook over Love because WINS and LEADERSHIP

It's not indefensible, particularly if you have needs on the wing. With a good coach who could reign him in and get him to buy into a defensive scheme, Westbrook is a top 10 player.

Zach Lavine sounds pretty smart - his answers show a lot more attention to the details of the game than something like "I need to shoot better."

As of this morning Draft Express has the Magic taking Embiid 4th with the Celtics taking Marcus Smart. That's exactly how it's gonna play out, isn't it?

Please please please. Who do you offload Rondo on though? I feel like he's being massively undervalued.
