I just can't get over how excellent Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage's soundtrack is. Maybe it's the nostalgia, but in general I think the music from Spyro 2 and 3 are just great.

Plus, they can standalone. Personally, the mark of a great soundtrack for me is if it can be great entirely outside the context of its source material.

Yeah, Stewart Copeland is an excellent composer. Who knew that the drummer/founder of The Police would turn out to be such an awesome video game composer?

Figured this would get more play in here than the jazz thread seeing as <genre> covers of video games are everywhere. My brother has started a project doing jazz covers of video game music http://www.grandnoiseconsortium.com/

Fair warning, they're running a kickstarter-like thing mainly for manufacturing and licensing costs, but the website has a few tracks uploaded to hear if you're interested

I have to wonder about jazz musicians who somehow think that some videogame music "is some of the catchiest, smartest and most moving ever made."

Why are you in this thread? You're clearly too sophisticated and intelligent to listen to this filth.
