I heard about HomeKit Secure Video, and it sounds great in concept. You get the advantage of the camera streams being encrypted and impossible for the manufacturer or hoster to access, but you don't have to run your own system.

Except everything I have that works with HomeKit requires you to install the manufacturer's app, set up an account, and *then* you can link it; you can't just scan a code and set the device up from within the Home app.

Does HomeKit Secure Video work the same way, where the only advantage is that *Apple* can't see the video, but the manufacturers all can? Or did I miss something about how I could have set up things for HomeKit?

I have some Logitech circle cameras/doorbell and the eufy outdoor cameras that work with HomeKit. None of them require an app and do everything through HomeKit. The Logitech camera doesn’t even have an app available.
