What DV should I be aiming for as a good season-finishing point?
|
# ? Jun 28, 2014 18:43 |

As far above 10 as you can get it. 14/15 is good, 16/17 is better. Younger players are easier to get to high DV.

If you're focusing on building, you want your younger player (like 22 and below really) to have 16-17, and your mid 20s to have 14-15. If you're trying to advance then you can have 1 or 2 less and that's still ok. To get that, you pretty much want to train your players when their form is 15 or less, maybe even more if you can afford it. I usually always train if my players have a downward arrow or down right arrow. Also I forgot to train properly and now my team's form is in the tank for my away game against Hardflip. RIP. Also I got obliterated by Disgruntled Alcoholics D:

This looks kind of neat and I applied to take over an abandoned team as SAPM. I know next to nothing about soccer and just want to manage some dudes so I'm looking forward to losing a lot.

Who would you choose of between these two guys: D 29/7 14f heart/ice D 30/9 4f leader/cheat/tough

If you're trying to decide between which two to start, I'd go with the first guy. I feel like the 10 more form makes up for the 2 less skill.

Haha thanks for nearly giving me a heart attack Xpert Eleven. My first goalie is already injured. Then this was in my inbox regarding my second goalie:quote:Charles Guiteau was out for a walk in the woods yesterday, and was stung by a bee. Charles Guiteau quickly discovered that he is allergic to bee stings and went into anaphylactic shock. Fortunately, his quick-thinking friends called the emergency services, and the air ambulance came to his rescue. Charles Guiteau made a full recovery and is fit to play.

Dear teams that select 'cheating' when the referee is Harshness 9: You should not do that. That's how you get 6 yellow cards and a disallowed goal.

Booted 6 goals from 8 chances in the first half and then nada on either in the second. I didn't tell them to take their foot off the pedal! I feel like 'bruise' just makes your team play super dirty, I cop an insane amount of yellows. I heard somewhere that it tends to make them play better (especially if a few of them have the 'tough' trait) but I might be imagining that.

They upped the limit to 23 about a year (?) ago. Players don't gain additional skills over time, what they start with they keep forever. That'd be a nice enhancement though, possibility of gaining a skill at the change report.

Generally if you play bruise and end up injuring someone's star player they will soap you continuously the rest of the season.

Squad depth is looking a problem in Serie Goon for me. Was cruising along 2-0 until my best player got stomped. Then at 2-1 we both had defenders sent off, and we were both playing 3-5-2. However, the other team immediately replaced a Forward with a Defender, who went and lined up in defence?!?? Maybe it was a pre-planned sub, but I thought you couldn't change formation during a game? I guess its possible that he went up front, and the display was wrong, but can anyone clarify?

I just want to note that this is a really good suggestion as, if you train on Sundays, this will ensure most of your team is trending upwards. I've been doing this for a while and there's a lot less downward trends than I used to have. The bulk of form gains come from having a good game anyways. You may get 1-4 form from training, but form will increase on top of that if the player has a good game.

Today was a good day. Not only did I eke out an away win against the Portland Mondays (now I just have to stop them from doing the same to be in a couple of days...), I got this in my mailbox: 18/5, great in the air, great reflexes? YES PLEASE THANK YOU My old-and-busted keeper is retiring in favor of my current young stud keeper this season, too; now I have to decide if I keep this dude and groom him as a backup/successor or if I sell him; there's a 17/4 with the same traits going for upwards of seven million soccerbux right now. I'm kind of worried that the other shoe is gonna drop...

Your current young stud keeper is rubbish and you could do a lot better, but I would still sell the 18/5. SQ's are not all that important (its all about the skill bars) but people will pay top dollar for them. You have a keeper there that will sell for a poo poo ton of econ, so I would cash in and get another young keeper thats actually just as good but doesn't have the sparkly SQ's. You will then also have tons of cash for training and really improving your squad. Of course the real good thing to do is train and play the 18/5 all season, try to double jump him at the CR and then sell for an even more insane amount of money!

plainswalker75 posted:I wish I knew more about this game, or why my team failed to put up a fight against your guys I don't think it's that your team failed to put up a fight; it's that my defense was playing full-tilt (none of my Ds had an effective skill rating lower than 11 until the 89th minute) and even though you went with long balls to try and take the game away from my midfielders, going with a 4-2-4 meant you had two MFs to my five; it's tricky to get the ball past that many dudes. If there was one mistake you made that I was able to capitalize on, I think - keeping in mind that I'm no expert either - that it may have been that you had 4 forwards but your offensive style was set to Long Range Shots, which prioritizes shooting the ball from a long ways away - in other words, it's a tactic more suited for a midfielder-heavy formation. I suspect that Through Plays or Wing Plays - probably the latter - would have paid more dividends with that setup. All told, though, in my experience you generally want more midfielders than less. (Do keep in mind that I've been playing since the start of the current Goonleague and I'm in the bottom division, so any advice I give may be considered suspect)

plainswalker75 posted:I wish I knew more about this game, or why my team failed to put up a fight against your guys You lost it in midfield. Midfield is overpowered in this game anyway, but the tactical choices you made just made the problem worse. Only 2 in midfield meant that you were totally overwhelmed, then he also marked your playmaker which further limited your performance, and on top of that you had played LRS. Long Range Shots is based on your midfielders having the ball and shooting from long range, but your mids didn't have the ball. A further problem was that the 2 midfielders you did have were lesser skilled than his goalkeeper. Often the long range shot (or freekick) comes down to a skill battle between the shooter and the keeper, but the keeper would have won that battle anyway, had there actually been any shots. His defense was stronger, 12 bars to your nine, and his midfield was a lot stronger, 12 bars to your meager 5! You were probably lucky to get away with a 2-0 defeat! You did a lot of things right but the choices do matter, so think hard about why you are picking certain formations or tactics!

What are some good other private leagues? I'm loving this and I keep getting invites to pubbie leagues that sound terrible. I'd rather join a big well run league, if there is anything suitable out there.
