Solar Soul looks kind of weak to me. I can't imagine why you would want to spend all your Trance Counters on an attack that isn't going to be much better (if at all) then a standard attack.

Remember, Solar Soul is discarding Trance Counters rather than Level Counters. Once you've built up to some of the later levels (3 or 4), you might not live to see the next level up. Solar Soul lets you cash out those potentially-useless trance counters as a last ditch return on investment. And remember, Solar Soul will hopefully be about 5-6 base strength by that point.

Oh. Gee, I'm dumb. I just assumed since the counters that come with the game only go up to 20, there was a hard limit there, but really there's nothing in the rules to suggest that, and there's nothing stopping you from using two life counters to go above 20. :downs:

God, Spiritual is such an awful style. Two beats in and I'm already at level 2, so my static bonuses are already better than Spiritual. And losing a trance counter is a painful cost. The only reason to use the thing is the range bonus, which is worse than Sanctimonious. I struggle to think of a situation in which I'd actually use the drat thing.

Edit: Okay, on second glace, it makes a little more sense. Since all her other styles have power and priority penalties, Spiritual is a functional +3/+2, rather than +2/+1. So it might be vaguely useful between levels 2 and 3. Still, I'd hesitate to delay level 3 for such a paltry boost.

It would also be useful in throwing of Ottavia's Target lock.... And sometimes it worth it to go second. Not often but sometimes.

It's like it's built to be an opener, but you can't actually use it on your first turn since you don't even have a token to burn yet. It'd be a much better style if it burned one of your tokens after use instead of making sure you have a token to burn before use. Then you could use it without penalty when you don't have any tokens. That might give her too much power in the early game, though. She honestly should probably just have something entirely different for her fifth style.
