From what I remember, wasn't Terra Formers some hilariously racist manga where the evil bugmen were an analog for black people or something? Or was that a different manga?

Yeah, very important to look deeper than just the blurb, especially because the blurbs they use on season charts are terrible. Go back to previous seasons and check out the descriptions for shows you enjoyed and marvel at how terrible they make it sound! The best thing to do is to look at the staff names. Director and the head writer (usually filed under series composition) are good ways to start. Not always perfect since nobody bats a thousand, but it's always a nice starting point. There's a lot of Fall shows I'm planning on checking out but the only one I'm really looking forward to at the moment is Chaika. There's enough sequels and remakes and adaptions of stuff I've read that I'm pretty sure I won't have trouble cobbling together a watch list, though.

i think the reason the anime ladies with the big tits wear maid outfits when not wearing their bikini flight suits is actually a deep socio-political message about the dangers of capitalism and how it relates with regards to the over materialistic nature of modern day society
