When you take damage that would kill you, roll +CON.
On a 10+ you stand back up, drenched in blood and at 1HP.
On a 7-9, you stand back up at 0HP and have a few seconds to get healing before your exertions kill you.

That was literally the next move I was taking, I was just trying to get the push to +3 STR first...
Unfortunately, just looking, I don;t think I failed enough rolls to level up this session, or I would have taken above move and +2 CON. We'll see after I math it up

AFAIK, it's ok for two PCs to have the same move via multiclassing, as long as it's not two of the same playbook?

I'm sure its not a problem, I just think its funny you picked it. We're both going to be unkillable bastards; which is expecially good for me, considering I fight till I'm nearly dead and I never bothered to stop and drink a potion.

Bonds: Rags has been hiding things, more so than people (if he is a person) normally do. How much can I really trust him? Luca sure knows a lot about Lord Akumu, maybe he and I can expose the monster and find out what it really wants.
I'm pretty sure we all know he is something awful now. +XP

In other news on the Bond front; Vimmen knows a dark secret about me. His god, Bolt, has revealed some of my nature to Vimmen, now he worries I will be loyal only to myself in a time of need.
I think we know what Bolt told Vim about me know...

Drive: Greed - Amass great riches
I'm not sure on this one, I more gained knowledge than treasure. Speaking of which, WTF, we crashed the castle and didn't get a big treasure haul?

Did we learn something new and important about the world? Lots of god stuff going on. +XP
Did we overcome a notable monster or enemy? If it existed I killed it. Animate Statues, Amalia's handmaiden, apparently the King Crab, who I didn't think was notable as much as just a personal agenda for me to kill. +XP
Did we loot a memorable treasure? All of it +XP

That only comes to +4 for me unless I find some gold under my fingernails...
Bonus +3 XP (verification pending I believe)

Total: 8/10 XP

Yeah the additional is on top of everything else. So it's your bonds, and questions +3. So in your case Jvie that would be 8exp.

Feel free to write effort posts describing your time on the boat. I'm working on the recruitment post, probably going to be asking for two characters at lv 3. Just so everyone can keep up with everyone else. More than likely we'll keep this thread open and I'll make a big post here to explain what we're after, and a summary of the current plot.

I'll try and get something up by tomorrow at the latest....

Dark things move in unseen corners of the world.

The gods are uneasy, their endless war of centuries enters a new phase as a band of… let’s call them “heroes”. Happen across the secret plans and schemes of creatures beyond the understanding of man. Played as pawns in a battle nearly as old as the world. A war between the almighty Gods of the world, and The Primes, mysterious godlike beings who command their otherworldly monsters to act as their agents in the wider world.

Now caught up in a battle for the life of one of one of their own, this band of heroes must find a way to not only take control of their fates, but also to strike back against their inhuman foes. Join Rory, the giant Northman who would be the God of War. Sia – five foot nothing of fists and fury, Luca – the old schemer who would risk anything for immortality, and Sammi – The young girl marked for death by the plans of The Primes. As they attempt to not only survive, but beat down the bad guys, loot everything they can, and cement their names in history forever.

If they live that long

CHARACTER CREATION

Welcome one and all, to the game. This is an ongoing game of Dungeon World. From humble beginnings, our protagonists started trying to steal pirate gold, and wound up in the middle of a war between gods. You are powerful in your own right, smart and skilful, paragons of your chosen field. Just the kind of people this rag-tag band of misfits needs.

We’re currently working a rotating GM role, with one of our current players stepping in to continue the story once I step down. You don’t have to GM if you don’t want to, but if you’re interested you’re more than welcome to volunteer.

Character creation starts at LV3, we have so far.

Rory Watchtower – The Brute

Sia ‘of the Black Hand’ – The Initiate

Sammi Cubrick – The Bonded

Luca Allmendinger "The Deep One" – The Mastermind

So any playbook that’s not one of those is open, with my approval of course.

THE SUMMARY:

Hoo boy, we’ve had a lot of stuff happening so far, so rather than asking you to read the whole thread so far, below is a plot summary and also little bios of our PCs and NPCs.

the plot so far posted:

The party are on their way to the Convent of the Sisters of Bolt, god of lighting and storms. With the intention of delivering a holy tome they stole from an Empire Senator-General (think Romans, but with the occasional piece of steampunky magi-tech). Getting given the mission by a priest of Bolt the party burned down a pub. Murdered the Senitor, fought a giant lobster, and slaughtered their way into a treasure room filled with the pirate treasure.

Obviously at this point they got their loot on, grabbed the book, and high tailed it out of there, sailing over the waveless waters of the Sea of Mirror. A place filled with all manner of giant undersea beasties. Getting to East Haven, the largest trading port/city of the local area, and linking up with Luca.

While doing this they’ve discovered a plot to murder little Sammi Cubrick, who, owing to a contract with her monstrous guardian Rags, will become a monster upon her death. Somehow this plays into the hand of the Prime of the North, a shadowy entity with a lot of power. Currently the party are working on a plan to stop the Prime’s agent Dust who right now is on its way to fulfil the contract, one way or another.

Having broken into a giant sandcastle to steal a portal orb from the Merfoke, their Octopus mages and their Crab King. Hoping it opens to a place filled with dragons to shove Dust into. Rory has discovered that he is the next God of War, as explained by Amalia, the goddess of the sea and past lover of the previous god of war (They keep dying, its rather annoying).

In the midst of the carnage of a three way battle between the Merfoke, the Empire, and the party. An ancient artefact from a precursor race took offence to the existence of Rags, who proceded to go a little crazy, nearly rip Luca in half and lost more and more of its mind before reverting to its original form. A giant tower of writhing living fabric. Bringing the whole structure down as Dust and Amalia turned up to throw down. As the party sailed away the whole thing exploded, Rags, Dust were no-where to be seen and Amalia sunk the rest of the structure.

Now separated from her guardian and with everyone a little worse of where. Sammi can’t help but panic as they sail ever closer to the stone walls of the convent. Unknown to the party, their Paladin – Vimmen, plans to depart once they reach this place. Following instructions given to him by the mighty Bolt himself.

PCs

Sia – A woman, more fist than flesh. Sia has set out to prove she’s the hardest motherfucker on the face of the planet. Having fought beasts and man, her attention turns to the Monsters of The Primes. Fearless and highly skilled, she has a close bond with Rory, and acts as a sister figure to Sammi. She knows Luca from past jobs. When she punched his previous butler to pieces. Sia uses a style of martal arts that uses magic to enhance her attacks. Feeding off of her rage to cause a lot of damage. Her kicks have been known to remove heads.

Rory – A giant from the North, Rory has battled everything he could find for nigh on two centuries. Though having lost track of time, he’s rather unaware of this. His most recent accomplishment was suplexing half a sea dragon. The next Tovarish (the Northern name of the God of War) Rory must visit the graves of his predecessors and gather their powers to rise to his position of glory. Currently bedding Sally Fir, a bard he hired to tell his legend.

Luca – Cunning as hell, and with a butler seemingly able to put up with anything. Luca seeks the secret to eternal life, fearful of growing old and dying before he can see his plans come to fruition. Able to talk himself out of nearly any situation, his quest brought him to the attention of the Monsters. Chasing Rags and Sammi to find out what they know. Currently seeking the Monster known as The Litch. Luca is the smartest member of the troupe, and has discovered how to infuse the Wryd into his blood to perform magic. Though not without cost. Currently in possession of a living relic from a precursor race.
- The Butler – long suffering, but does not realise he’s being played by Luca, who he admires. Pleasant enough to get on with, but internally quite judgemental and petty.

Sammi – Young, shy, and terrified. Sammi suffered a life of slavehood and hardship before her Monster arrived and saved her. Now she’s on the run from all the other Monsters. Her bond with Rags allouws her to produce Wyrd. An energy of change and corruption that seems alive, and that Monsters feed off of. Following a infatuation with Icarus, an inventor they met. Sammi has been working on becoming an inventor, using the Wyrd to create strange devices. Due to her contract with Rags, once she dies she will become a monster herself. A fate she was completely unaware of until recently and now wants to avoid at all cost.

Rags – A monster created by the Primes. A being of living fabric threads, shape shifting into almost any form. Rags enjoys manipulation others and is more than capable of murdering people with little hesitation. Being a Monster Rags is practically Immortal, if he’s not he’s not let on how to kill him yet. Increadably smug and condicending, Rags mascurades as Lord Akumu, an Imperial minister, responcible for the investigation of the misuse of magic. Giving him a free pass to wander and abuse his authority. Bound to protect Sammi. –CURRENTLY MISSING-

Previous PCs.

Icarus – An inventor the group met in Codcliff, Sammi was rather infatuated with him and still pines for the man. Joined the others as he dreamed of being an adventurer and assisted in the robbery of the pirate treasure. Disappeared under mysterious circumstances. –CURRENTLY MISSING-

Vimmen – Paladin of Holy Bolt, and the closest thing the group had to a moral compass. Vimmen was outgoing and friendly. A stalwart defender of the innocent, and trying to atone for the loss of his son, which he blames on his own sins. Vimmen took it upon himself to deliver the tome, and in doing so spoke to his god directly. His connection to the God has found many allies, including Lucy Fir, who he has worked with before, and the Shakti, who he converted to the worship of Bolt.

Notable NPCs

Lucy Fir – Senior Battle Sister of Bolt. Possibly a Monster, but not confirmed. Has fought alongside Vimmen. Seems to know more about what’s going on than she’s sharing. Sister of Sally Fir.

Sally Fir – A traveling Bard hired by Rory and his pelvic magic to tell his legend. Has powers over sound and manipulating sounds as a physical thing. Sister of Lucy Fir

Ashe – A Monster, friend of Rags. Warned him of the approach of Dust. Appears as a female human redhead in tight fitting clothing. Noted to be able to disappear and move as a cloud of embers and ash. Implied by Rags that Ashe and Dust were ‘together’ in a human sense.

Dust – A Monster working for The Prime of the North. Said to be incredibly powerful. Currently hunting for Sammi and Rags, presumably to kill him. His approach can be sighted as a great storm overhanging the land. Though immortal, it is possible that he can be banished, and has famously done so in the past by an entire army, though it was wiped out doing so. It is said that he has a weakness to Bloody Silver, how effective this will be has yet to be seen. Implied to be involved with Ashe romantically by Rags.

Bolt – God of Lightning and Storms. His worshipers are many and he seems most popular at coastal regions, or places with consistent lightning storms. His power is noted to be able to suppress but not kill the Primes, though how much of that he uses to do so is unclear. He spoke out against Amalia’s plan to kill Sammi before the Monsters could do it.

Amalia – Goddess of the ocians and all life in them. Appears inside a giant sea creature who’s feelers end in the upper half of women, reffered to as her Handmadens. She does have a human-ish form and is known to have been the lover of Tovarish. Little is known of her goals, but she does seem to advocate direct action against the god’s enemies.

Tovarish – God of War, little is known of this god beyond he has not been seen for millennia. Each of his successors falling before they could achieve the final goal of uniting all of his powers. His current successor is Rory Watchtower.

Id – A divine entity in the service of Bolt. Kept watch over the Tomb prison of the Southern Prime.

The Tree Unit – An ancient living relic from a precursor race. The unit is mysterious but supposedly has a wealth of knowledge. Recovered from the Sandcastle.

The Prime of the South – Defeated and imprisoned by the Gods, discovered in the Sandcastle by Sammi and Vimmen. It’s skeletal structure seems to be made of Amber of some kind. It has been admitted that the Gods do not know how to kill it. It is also noted that its form generates Wyrd energy.

The Prime of the North – Referred to as “The Father of Monsters”, considered to be the most active of the Prime. In command of a number of potent Monsters. Currently attempting to Kill Sammi for unknown gains.

Notable Factions

The church of Bolt – Worshipers of Bolt, their membership is widespread and diverse. Noted to have battle mages and legions of Paladins. Boltian worship is typically righteous and focuses on good deeds and decisive action.

The Empire – Owns the largest empire in the world. Forged long ago with the help of a great Inventor. They have settled into a roman like structure. Being led by a parliament of Senators. Its forces are highly trained and well regimented. The party are not on very friendly terms with the Empire.

Slayers – Hunters of all kinda of beasts, it’s noted they have some central command structure on the battlefield where Dust was last banished.

Welcome Vulpes Vulpes and Infinite Oregano! It's great to see several people express interest already. For the playbooks, I'm not wearing the pointy GM hat at the moment but I think most of those would be fine. I don't have the full playbooks to check but from what I know I can only see two that I would question, mostly on the grounds of creeping on the niches of the classes already in play. First would be the Masked Mage. My first impression is that it would overlap with the Mastermind. The second one I suspect is the Survivor. This I'm less sure about but I guess it might overlap with the Iniate and the Brute to some degree? Someone who has the playbook to read would have to say for sure.

In other news, for my level up I'll take a point of charisma and...

I Prepared For This
Add the following options to All According To Plan:
• Reveal yourself as a decoy, the real you is somewhere nearby.
• Reveal an enemy as an ally.
• Suddenly obscure an area from view.

(I'll make a game post later today.)

Welcome as well, I' cant speak for Arashi, who currently GMs, but I've used the mages before and like them. We had a star mage very briefly, which mage in particular were you considering? If you were looking at something like the Dragon Mage, we'll have a real fight club going on. Vimmen was a paladin, but was learning spells from Bolt and we'd been without any form of healing other than potions so far; this why we sought out hirelings in in the form of the Fir sisters.

I don't know much about inverse classed , I made a Skydancer i liked once, but that's it. I've read over half of them and liked it insofar.

Well I'm thinking a Clock Mage who was once a mere clockmaker who tried, and possibly succeeded in making a clock too perfect that it trapped him in a time loop, almost driven mad from isolation and attempting to understand what happened he managed to break the event but he doesn't remember how. What he does know however is that by breaking that he has gained insights into time that no-one should have, and with it comes temporal manipulation. Although he still has some inventiveness on the side, he is mostly focused on his new talents and trying to truly understand them, and the nature of time.

From his jaunt out of time he has gained fragments of remembered insights about a coming event, and that he must be a part of it, or worse will happen.

Since he was an inventor in the past however he has poached the mechanist's suit move as a part of what he worked on before (and partly after, since he started using temporal energy in it) the event occurred.

That sounds really drat intense Oregano. I was wondering how Sammi would interest with him, being an inventor and her interest in it. Then I had a stupid idea that is just as equally awesome; that he is Icarus from the future. The problem is it would not be your original character anymore...

quote:

Lord Salt, the RainSealord

“Dark things move in unseen corners of the world.”

This is what I was told when I was created. The Primes and their agents are afoot once again, the Monsters moving free and unimpeded in the world. The will of the gods is challenged, thwarted. The Mother of All attacked openly.

I was created to do her bidding. Formed from the seawater that gave life to every thing in creation. I was created to act as her agent. Formed with pearl eyes and the teeth of sharks. I was created as a warrior. Formed from the souls of drowned men.

I have been given the form of man to walk among them, but I am no brother to them. I have my mission and my duty, and in doing that, I try to understand the bizarre creatures that have been given dominion over creation. They are strange to me, but I know that I am no less strange to them.

Some of them work at cross-purposes to me, but others follow the Mother’s will. I am new to this world and strange and not yet strong enough to do this myself. I need allies in this calling.

Look: translucent green skin, pearl eyes, shark’s teeth, clad in seaweed and sailcloth.

Liquid Body
Underneath a thin layer of semi-amorphous skin, your insides are entirely made of liquid, from Amalia’s blessed seas. As a result, your body can stretch and compress in ways that bodies of flesh cannot possibly mimic.

You can fit through incredibly narrow gaps- anything that you can reach your arm through will fit your entire body. When you Defy Danger by taking advantage of your body’s inherent flexibility, roll +Ward.

Wherever you go, the rain will always follow. Whenever you Make Camp, it will rain in the area around you. When you spend at least a short rest in water, rain or fog, you hold 3-Rain.

At any time, you can spend 1-Rain to fill the area within Reach around with rain or fog, your choice. The rain or fog will only last a minute or so, but it will come even if you are indoors or underground. This rain or fog moves with you for as long as it lasts.

Liquid Cache
With a body made entirely of liquid, you can carry your supplies inside of you, as long as the water would not ruin them and you do not exceed your Load. Supplies held inside you can never be taken from you without your permission, but they are clearly visible inside you if you don’t cover up. You can retrieve anything hidden inside you at any time, without needed to dig through your body for it.

Never seen a salamander before? It's alright. We're from way down south- I mean, it's underground. We call it the City of Ash. Think of a big, hot anthill all run through with glass tubes and you're halfway there.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter now. Let's just say I won't be going back for a while. See, we don't all know fire like I do.

The Brass Plates say the salamanders are the children of Rook. Rook is Fire, but it's not a god to us- not the way Bolt is. It doesn't intervene in the world. We see Rook more as an idea, an ethos, a way to live and tell right from wrong. There's some weird mystical passages in the later Plates about the Coming of the Immolator and the righteous breaking of the laws and the blazing sword that Rook will bestow on its champion in the Age of Embers, but we usually interpreted that as a metaphor. Until I came along, babbling in tongues, spitting green flames, clutching a blazing sword...

So that was the first fire I set in people's minds. That's what i've been doing since they kicked me out- sparking ideas. Honing my blade. Burning unjust laws, which hasn't made me many friends in the Empire. Serving Rook in my own way.

I mean, when the fires talk to you, you've gotta tell somebody or you'll go crazy!

following tags, on a 7-9 choose one. You may treat your INT as your STR or DEX in
regards to making attacks with this weapon. The weapon always begins with the fiery,
touch, dangerous, and 3 uses tags. Each attack with the weapon consumes one use.
hand
thrown, near
• +1 damage
• remove the dangerous tag

Fighting Fire With Fire
When you take damage, and that damage is odd (after armor) the flames within you come to
your aid. Roll 1d4 and either add that many uses to your burning brand (if active), take that result
forward to summon your burning brand, or reduce the damage by that amount, your choice.

Zuko Style
When you bend a flame to your will, roll+WIS. On a 10+ it does as you command, taking the
shape and movement you desire for as long as it has fuel on which to burn. On a 7-9 the effect
is short-lived, lasting only a moment.

Give Me Fuel, Give me Fire
When you gaze intensely into someone eyes, you may ask their player “what fuels the flames
of your desire?” they’ll answer with the truth, even if the character does not know or would
otherwise keep this hidden.

Hand Crafted
You may use your hands in place of tools and fire to craft metal objects. Mundane weapons,
armor and metal jewellery can all be formed from their raw components. You may unmake these
things, as well, but to do so without time and safety might require that you Defy Danger first.

Firebrand
When you introduce a new idea to an NPC, roll+CHA. On a 10+ They believe the
idea to be their own and take to it with fervour On a 7-9, Their passion fades after
a day or two. On a miss, they respond negatively, speaking out against the idea.

Ogdru Jahad
Gain the Wizard move Ritual. The GM will always tell you what you have to
sacrifice to gain the effect you desire.

Lol, we got fire and water now. I'm a fan of the immolator, but I feel like it was never finished, like the released version was just a rough draft.

Never read the rain lord, but it seems cool. I did notice your stats looked to be 1 point short. Also, it is your call, but I think if Salussk is going to be a sword it would have close range.

Edit, it looks like you both might be short a point. You get a +1 at every level

I wish that the Brute had an easier time getting Messy or Forceful tags. I am forceful when I hit people with other people, and I don't have Messy, but I have the Blunt tag, which sounds like the same thing but for internal damage. "This weapon breaks bones, smashes armour and leaves enemies with internal injuries"

You could have a Huge punching gauntlet, which would be hand range and Huge, like Hellboy, a Hand range sword is like a dagger though

The Brute is a dope playbook, but I never really understood why the blunt tag was needed when messy did pretty much the same thing with more interesting options of interpretation.

I'm going to make my friends eat infinite oregano and they'll have to do it because the recipe says so!

Mechanical Suit:

Neram Katikeram

Neram once was a mere clockmaker. Although perhaps 'mere' isn't the correct word. He was an excellent clockmaker, his skills were impressive to many - he seemed to have a natural inclination towards clockwork and especially to the makings of clocks themselves. People would come from far and wide to commission pieces from him, including more dramatic projects - even some military applications.

Life was well for him, for he was paid handsomely for his precise and attractive work, and he enjoyed the work - it played right into his tendencies.

Then came the stranger, clad in silks and ivories, wearing a distinctive headdress of charred oak - atop which sat a beautiful ruby. Though they introduced themselves as 'Mutivu', Neram later suspected that this was a pseudonym. Mutivu desired a great work, and promised to reward Neram fantastically for it - though truth-be-told the challenge itself was enough to motivate Neram. What Mutivu commissioned in particular was a clock - not just any clock - but a perfect clock, something that would measure the passage of time with utmost certainty - and transmit this information in a manner that cannot be mistaken for anything else, an abject definition of temporal fact.

Neram rose to the challenge, driven by the prospect of such a grandiose project, he forgot everything else. He barely ate or slept, growing thinner and paler as he spent more and more time in his workshop, his requests for materials growing larger and stranger - but nonetheless they were supplied to him by his supposed patron.

Days became weeks became months, as he worked tirelessly on this new project. Strange sounds were reported in the night from his workshop. Then, one day - he completed it. As he placed the final component into to the depths of the clock, it came to life - as was intended, tapping into the flows of time itself to provide its own power. Neram stepped back to admire his work, happy with the completed project - he finally felt the time add up, and went to sleep immediately, exhausted.

When he awoke he went about his business, or at least he tried to do so. Being a relatively insular fellow he had few reasons to go outside, so it wasn't until late in the afternoon did he try to leave, opening his doors. Outside was a world of greys and stillness - like some grim reflection of the world. It was more than that however, for out there it was still night, the moon hang glumly in the sky and against it could be half-perceived an owl, frozen in flight. Even with this in mind he tried to leave, finding the 'grey world' opposing him entirely, like a brick wall.

Growing more and more desperate he tried as he might to escape this bubble, but to no avail. Then Neram stepped back to admire his work, happy with the completed project - he finally felt the time add up, and went to sleep immediately, exhausted.

Outside was a world of greys and stillness - like some grim reflection of the world. It was more than that however, for out there it was still night, the moon hang glumly in the sky and against it could be half-perceived an owl, frozen in flight.

Then he remembered! Not only was he trapped in this infernal place, but it looped in on itself temporally.

What happened next Neram cannot fully remember, though he distinctly recalls spending what felt like an eternity trapped there. As time passed he felt no hunger, nor thirst, nor fatigue, perhaps it would have been better if he had - for it would have distracted him from his situation. Over 'time' Neram's grasp on reality began to unravel, and his memories of the events that occurred inside the bubble are hazy at best. Each loop daring him to try greater and greater things, but when it started again all was back to normal - including himself. Untouched entirely. He recalls reading page upon page of books and tomes and scrolls that lay in the library, he recalls meditating upon the nature of this damned existence, he remembers picking a fight with a scarecrow assembled from bags of coins that had been laid so carelessly about (and giving it a right good thrashing too!), but what he doesn't remember... is how he got out of there.

And yet, he did. When he awoke he went about his business, or at least tried to do so. Being a relatively insular fellow he had few reasons to go outside, so it wasn't until late in the afternoon did he try to leave, opening his doors. Outside was the world as he might have expected it, so many eternities ago. The sun shone down upon the city as people went about their business and the hustle and bustle of city life went on as it always had. With a gasp he turned and realised - the clock, it was gone entirely - as though it was never there. Neram stood at the doorway to his workshop, trembling, what was once a young man was no incredibly ancient.

Beginning to understand what this all meant, the gravity of the situation sunk in to Neram's mind. As he pondered what to do next time began to slow, and fluctuate around him - and the greatest of frights began to fill him as he was afraid that the hell that he had been trapped in was about to return. However, slowly but surely he came to understand the nature of these things, somehow, someway, he was the source of the temporal anomalies. With this in mind he knew that mastering these things would be absolutely necessary for him to succeed.

So it was Neram spent more time in his workshop, preparing. Modifying an old suit of mechanical armour to better suit his needs - and inserting his nascent temporal powers within it to provide it with power, and grant it a coherent energy weapon - akin to certain things stranger mages tend to dabble in. Fixing a prototype avian scout, and finishing the touches on an ornithopter that he worked on as a personal project over time. With these things, and further practice upon this new methods that he had been gifted with, he set out into the world.

He was to find this clock, or die trying. For one memory was burned into his mind regarding the clock, when he touched the clock immediately after its completion he felt a spark of energy enter him - and with it a portent of a grim future indeed, of things that are yet to come... terrible things.

Flow of Time
Outside of Time: You exist outside of our traditional conception of time. Skipping
around just comes naturally to you. When you spend Tick, you may choose to gain an equal amount of
Tick instead of gaining Tock. When you Time Skip multiple times, reduce the duration of a long
journey down to moments.

Drive
Favorable Futures: Manipulate events in a way that favors you or your friends.

Starting moves
Tick Tock
Adjusting the flow of time is like a fine balancing act - with every skip forward, you need a rewind,
and with every slow down, you need to speed up. You begin the game with one Tick and one Tock held.
When you spend Tock, gain an equal amount of Tick. When you spend Tick, gain an equal
amount of Tock. When you take a short rest, you may reset your Tick and Tock to 1 each.

You can spend 1-Tick to do one of the following:
• Fast Forward: When you or an ally are waiting for something to happen, it happens immediately.
• Time Skip: Move yourself anywhere you could get to by mundane means within Near range. You get
there in an instant.

You can spend 1-Tock to do one of the following:
• Rewind: Pull back time a moment to take back a single thing you did or said. This doesn't let
you re-roll if you go back to before you made a move - if you change what you did, apply the old
roll to the new action.

Give Me A Moment
When you slow time to a crawl to give yourself a moment to react, spend 1-Tock and hold 2. You
can spend 1-hold to do one of the following:
• You walk around - move somewhere within Reach of you.
• You notice something you can use to your advantage.
• Roll +INT to Defy Danger instead of what the GM tells you to roll.

Eternal Witness
When you return to somewhere you’ve visited before (your call), tell the GM how long it's been since
you were last here - decades, centuries, or eons. Tell us what it was like way back when, and the GM
will tell you one thing that hasn't changed.

Perfect Timing
When you want to arrive somewhere at a certain time, you are always exactly on time.
When you Aid Another at just the right moment, you may roll +INT instead of +Bonds.

Advanced Moves

WorldlyGain a move from a playbook none of the other players are currently using.
(Mechanic->Mechanical Suit)

Mechanical Suit (Int)You have a mechanical suit, unique to you, which only you can operate - describe it. Other
suits exist, but none of them quite like yours. When you wear your Mecha Suit, you have
1 armor, and can use the suit as a weapon with a range of Close. When you Hack & Slash
in your suit, roll +INT instead of +STR.

Your suit is equipped with a variety of unique equipment. Pick one from each list:
Primary Weapon: Energy Cannon: Near, Piercing 2, 2 ammo. When you Make Camp, restock 1-ammo
Movement Method: Jumper: Jump incredible heights, and take no damage from controlled falls.
Advanced Systems: Aiming Systems: When you Volley in your suit, roll +INT instead of +DEX.

Time Stop

When you completely stop time, spend 2-Tock and roll +INT. On a 10+, choose two. On a 7-9.
choose one. Regardless, you can Time Skip during this move for free, as often as you like.
• You interfere with someone else's action - tell us how
• You deal your damage to someone within range
• You aren't in harm's way when the flow of time returns

FREEBIE: Oracle
when you go into battle, spend 1 Tick. Name one person who’ll die OR one person who’ll live.
Don’t name a PC; name NPCs only. The GM will make your vision come true if it’s even remotely possible.

Eternal Vigil
You do not need to eat, drink, or sleep. When you Take Watch, the night passes in an instant, and
anything coming arrives in the morning, after everyone has fully rested.

Gear:

Dungeon rations (5 uses, 1 weight)

A clockwork spider or bird, which can spy on things for you. It is 1-weight. When you send
it somewhere, it will report back when you next Make Camp, telling you everything it saw
in the place you sent it. (Named Paravai)

Your mecha suit (8 weight, 0 weight while worn)

An ornithopter

Healing Potion (0 weight)

Bag of Books (4 uses, 2 weight)
Paravai:

pre:
Ornithopter
A one-man flying vehicle, to be piloted with great precision and a whole lot of panic.
Large, Control +1, Flying, Vehicle, 1 Passengers

Whoah! (Pilot Move)
When you Defy Danger to escape certain death while in an Ornithopter, add the Ornithopter’s
Control stat to your roll.

Observer Seat (Passenger Move)
When you Discern Realities while riding high in an Ornithopter, add the Ornithopter’s Control stat to your roll.

Light Ride
An Ornithopter cannot carry cargo beyond the regular weight its occupants can carry. It cannot be equipped with
further equipment aside from a very light weapon mount.

I think the reason it was added was becasue 2 advanced moves trigger off the blunt tag. I think it could just as easily be interchangeable, if Arashi agrees, we can just treat it the same. Rory is pretty messy when he is ripping arms out of their sockets with his bare hands. Remember that pyromancer?

Playing the class with my home group last year, it seemed like some moves needed better clarification, like Burning Brand for example, one of the staple moves. It has you create a weapon with the touch tag, but you can spend a point to add the hand tag. The touch tag describes a spell that only works when you touch something, hand is a range for weapons that only add a few inches to your natural reach. Eventually we figured out you are not making a 'weapon' but you have a mark, a "brand" that if you touch to someone else, you set them on fire. The added tags make it so you can throw it, but the hand tag still makes little sense. Dangerous, we figured, meant you burn anything you touch with the brand, with no control once it was activated.

We also ran into issues where I can just use burning brand to create a flame, then use Zuko style to make the fire go anywhere it will burn

The lack of gear is due to the Immolator using neither weapon or armor. Their fire is both.

Dungeon world is a great system for beginners, so thanks for coming and checking us out! The beauty of the game is that people can insert their own lore. I've already got a mad 'thing' worshipping cult chasing Sammi around in her background. So its not beyond the pail for there to be other eldrich horrors with their own little churches. Cleric is a good start, but its a basic class. I might suggest checking out 'the cultist' or 'the warlock' for other angles. Sadly I've not got many religious themed playbooks.

Anyone else got any suggestions?
