As the struggle for the Romuva Worshipers Independence come to a close Eskild is quick to take the opportunity and bind the Lietuvan royalty with the Vogelius family by marrying Thorvald to a Prussian Princess. But when our victorious King return home he is faced with ill news. The court has spent more money than the realm can pay off and together with the accumulated debt from the wars of his ancestors it was coming up to a large amount. Now as well with the merchants upset with the wars and their treatment in the court the interest rates of the loans were an insane amount going straight into the Patricians and Clergy's pockets. Eskild settles in quickly into his throne room and starts campaigns to fix his financial troubles and save the Kingdom from future bankruptcy.    One of the bigger expenditures of the realm is the military and two acts are adopted by his Majesty's Administration called "The Foreign Service Act" and the "Mans Duty Act". The Foreign Service Act centered around giving mercenaries employment guarantees and formalizing he Foreign Army in law and regulation of the army. The Mans Duty Act was an expansion upon the Act of Royal Duty which enforces that any man can serve in the military to be elevated to Freemen in their community. It also makes it clear that this applies to any thrall fit for military service and his worth will be payed to the slaves master by the crown.   England allies with Poland sensing the imminent danger on their border. In the middle sea the Eastern Roman Empire reclaims the Roman City from the Papal States throwing out the pope.    In Placentia on the island of Beothuk rich wildlife is found especially of beavers whose pelts becomes popular in the Kingdom. Gascone has grown in power and dares to declare themselves equal of their defeated enemy the Almoravids whose empire used to stretch from half of Iberia to North Africa. But in he North German lands trouble and religious unrest are brewing...    ... a priest and professor of theology by the name Maarten Speirdyke had for a long time shown his dissent with the Catholic Church and its corruption and greed. One day he puts up his Ninety-Five Theses on the entrance of the St Catherine's Cathedral. He quickly gains followers in all of Holland but opposition remains within the ruling elite of Westfriesland. His followers refer to themselves as Dykers but the Roman Catholic Church refer to them as the Dutch Dykes   Still the cost of running the might Scanian Army is still a large expense on the crowns coffers as such King Eskild does a restructuring of the army to make it more cost efficient together with his commanders. Which is good as the Jomsvikings call for aid in their war to take Holstein from the Prince of Saxony. King Eskild warns however the Master of the Order that the support from the Crown would be minimal to not accrue more dept. But it looks pretty decent for the Jomsvikings chances of defeating Saxony and his allies.    The Duke of Wurzburg tries to retake Holstein from the grips of the Order but Eskild rides in with the First Royal Army and meets him, swiftly defeating him. But at home his dear son dies in a hunting accident and sorrow overtakes his Majesty and he retreats from the war to light his longboat grave on fire. The next in line of the throne is Silje who is a love-child between His Majesty and a daughter of a wealthy patrician in Trelleborg. She is however only 11 years old and her father is now over 60 years.    On the coast of Holland a large naval battle between the Papal States and Westfriesland is seen as the Pope tries to enforce their authority over the Dutch Duchy who refuses to persecute their Dyker population. With one of Englands most important allies tied in a religious war His Majesty and his court decides now is the time to fullfill on the promise to the Högting. War is declared and the Skottish Garrison, The Foreign Armies and the Second Royal Army is mobilized in Skotland. A formal housing called Barracks are constructed in Trelleborg.    The Normans of Aragon decide to support their Anglo allies by invading the Breton Peninsula. Meanwhile the Scanian forces continue to advance over the English countryside unopposed.   In Iberia the Duke of Gascone adopts Dykerism favoring it as how it gives him near absolute power over his realm. They who has nearly single handed beaten back the Muslims from the continent doesn't hear as much complaints as the Dutch did.   Even though the realm is at war his Majesty continues his reforms to make his army as efficent and cheap as possible for the realm to maintain. In the Isles The Second Foreign Army is closing in on London.    More of the settlements in the Far West becomes self sustaining as its population grows. Finally the commanders of the armies in England find out what has happened to the English forces. They are on the continent fighting the Papal State to defend their ally in Westfriesland.   With England trapped and unable to defend its land the combat instead turns to the naval warfare where Skåne has complete dominance with its Royal Navy.   The Skottish Princes seeing the Crown acquiring more strength and power in the Isles with its invasion of England starts to conspire with the Bretons who are sick and tired of being Europe's doormat every-time the Kingdom ends up in a war. The Order wins its war against Saxony without further support from Skåne and Holstein is claimed for the Æsir.   On 29th of August 1515 London falls to the invading Norse and is sacked for all its worth. The English realize their mistake and try to bring back their forces but the 2nd Foreign Army stands ready to meet them at the beaches.    The English are broken and flee northwards to their last holdout in the fortress island of Orkney.Of the coast of Jorvik the Westfrieslander Fleet is spotted and intercepted by the Royal Navy before they can land their forces.    With no options left to defend their land the English finally surrender to His Majesty's demands. Marches, Lancashire, Yorkshire and the island of Orkney is surrendered to Skåne. Upon the news that the land will stay with the Royal Crown the Princes of Skotland incite their people to rebel against the King. With the Skots being unruly again the decision is made to expand upon the Skottish Garrison with two regiments of Housedraki.

With a lot of conflicts happening far away from the Kingdom and now over thirty thousand men needing to be transported home from Skotland some shipwrights see the need of improved ships hat can carry more men safely across the high sea and innovations are done within this area.   Thanks to the administration and reforms of His Majesty the population grows quite substantially as thralls that had been enlisted in the army return home from the campaigns and are allowed to start a new life as Freemen in the far reaches of the Kingdom.   Needed improvements are done to the artillery regiments of Skåne replacing them with more modern field artillery from Gascogne in Iberia.   During the Winter under the yearly Yuletid festival to celebrate Odins Wild Hunt over the Heavens which His Majesty Eskild always lead and participated in with great enthusiasm. But the year of 1519 it was held by Crown-Princess Silje, his beloved daughter who was always seen by his side in the autumn of his years. Four months later the news come that His Majesty died in his bed as his body betrayed him, it to be said that he cursed the gods for disgracing his name such. Upon his funeral the crowd were from all over the enormous Kingdom and as the longboat was about to leave harbor Her Majesty Silje noticed from her platform that most of these were commoners, thralls who recently had been made Freemen was there to honor the memory of her Father while there was a big absence from nobles and patricians.  Queen Silje had been a secluded person throughout King Eskild's reign and had hard time trusting people. Only one you could see by her side at all times were no advisers or noblemen attempting to woo her but the Shield-maiden assigned by her father to protect her, a great warrior that once defended King Eskild in battle as they were surrounded by Poles and Bohemians.  In west the teachings of the Dykers are spreading like wildfire as Castile's King adopts the faith to try and have more leverage to try and get the mighty Gascogne army's out of Aragon's camp. In the colonies a new settlement is planned for the islands to the south of Beothuk. In the small principality of Grison a Swiss gunsmith improves upon the musket making it much more accurate.    Lady Krabbe orders the expansion of the Second Royal Army with two more Draki regiments to strengthen it.  The years pass and Her Majesty comes to her twenties and she works hard in paying off the debts of the Kingdom and get the treasury out of the spiraling debt. In the east the Golden Horde having lost badly to the Seljuks and Greater Bulgaria the Golden Horde had come under pressure from both their subjects and neighbors. Khanum Gunduz to save her family's great empire and preserve the legacy of her ancestor Temüjin she makes a grand reformation of the entire horde akin to the Bolghars but focused on the silk road cities. Henceforth being known as the Golden League of the Central Asian Cities. It guarantees much more autonomy to the great cities but still lead under her rule.   For the Grermans religious strife becomes a big topic as the Dutch Dykes spread all the way to Berlin. In the Kingdom there is peace and growth with her Majesty's enlightened rule and a Workshop is setup in Värmland to improve the Iron crafts in the area. In Brunswick one of the Northern German Princes having resisted the spreading of Maarten Speirdyke's teachings is instead hit by a theoligian by name Johan Kalvin in Lüneburg who proposes a different theories of worship than Catholicism and the ideas of Johan takes root in the city.    To get control of the unrest in the nation Queen Silje starts an inquisition sanctioned by the Fylkariate to find the troublemakers and put their hanged corpses on display. With the death of her brother Thorvald and now recently her Father the Romuvans remove their alliance with the Scanian Kingdom but it proves to be the last they do.    Queen Silje is content with letting them die she having more focus on her subjects than conflicts outside of her realm. She funds some Freemen her father gave freedom to start a trade venture to their old homelands of Jórsalheim ordering the construction of two Caravel for them. In the Isles the English Cross-worshipers revolt against her Majesty's blessed rule, her loyal warriors who serve in the Skottish Garrison put an end to the unrest quickly. Lietuva quickly falls to the Lithuanians.    The most beautiful fabric start to be sold in Trelleborg coming all the way from Malwa in India. Aragon, the only rival to Byzantium in the Middle sea has increased their colonization of not only Africa but they have also joined in the exploration of the land in the far west. Their ally the Duke of Gascogne ends up in a conflict with the Knights of Calatrava which they restored from the Andalusian Muslims resulting from their Grandmaster claiming some of the borderland to originally belonging to the Order. The wealthy and powerful duke of the de Haro dynasty did not accept those claims and the tensions eventually ended in open war, which the Order lost in less than a year.    A Skottish man named Thorolf Malcolm are named the Master of Mint for the realm to help tackle the debt problem. The Foreign Armies are moved to the east to secure the Romuvan borderland the Lithuanians haven't managed to put complete control over to make sure the Pagan population there is protected from the Cross-worshipers. Many in the Högting is demanding that proper action is taken against the Lithuanians to make sure the Catholics do not grow in strength in our backyard but Queen Silje does all she can to avoid conflict with her neighbors.    The Bassam Brothers who started their trade ventures a few years ago to the Middle Sea seem to have been quite sucessful and Silje invests more and establish the first squadron in the Middle Sea called Jórsalheim Squadron. In year of 1529 Silje's dear friend Margrete Krabbe dies as she is leading the Foreign Armies in Lietuva. But it doesn't stop the armies and soon enough the Lietuvan King is forced to recognize her Majesty's overlordship of the Romuvans.    The Inquisition to find the troublemakers of Skåne has helped motivating some to turn to the one true faith. From the east spreads news of an Empire the Queen had never heard before called Korea has improved upon the Muskets by completely revolutionizing the firing mechanism. Meanwhile in Europe they still relied on matches even though the firing mechanism had been improved upon.    Without Margrete Krabbe to keep others at bay from Her Majesty she is easily influenced by members of the Högting that Greifswald is old territory that belongs to Skåne and must be retaken! Knowing its something her father would have wanted she declares war upon the Empire to reclaim her families land from the Brandenburg Duchy. Luckily though the Emperor does not come to defend their northern border and Brandenburg have to fend for themselves. The First and Second Royal Armies are quick to move in and capture the coast.    The defending commander of Berlin is Baron Gerlach von Stein and he is a formidable opponent but he can not hinder the Royal Forces of Skåne. Berlin Falls.    The coast of Brandenburg is returned to the Norse realms and Uckermark is also claimed for the Kingdom. Now Silje can return to focusing on developing the nation and one of the goals she set is to promote the land in the west to become even stronger and more populous.    In response to the aggression from the North Braunschweig and Brandenburg enter a formal alliance directed against the Pagans. But with the Empire weak the Jomsvikings want to continue the campaign by taking the Danish city of Lübeck and uniting their land. Queen Silje can't refuse the call to arms because a Norse controlled Lübeck would mean complete control of the Baltic trade for the merchants in Trelleborg and Gotland. The Emperor ignores his northern subjects yet again meaning that the Royal Armies won't even be needed.   But with the Queens reluctance to fight in wars and the fact that one of the grandest armies in the world is lead by a cowardly woman does make people look down upon the Royal Forces, even though it can beat anything in the known world single-handed. In Egypt the Fatamids are successful in reclaiming a big chunk of their lost territory.   At home, perhaps inspired by the religious reformations happening in Germany, a gydja and scholar in Estonia has started to preach new traditions and customs not approved by the Fylkariate by the name Halvdan Neb. Halvdan saying that the Holy Scripture of the Hávamál which are the spoken words of the All-Father does not mention death in battle as the way for a good life and that idea is a fabrication of old Kings and Chieftains and should not be included in people's devotion to the Gods. He claims that that what the Gods praise is courage in every day life, the will to be the best you can be and die a happy and fulfilled man. It grows popular awfully quickly despite the efforts by the Fylkariate to discredit it.    Progress is done in production technology and as merchants grow in wealth some of them have started to buy textile manufactories in the east to produce the goods in larger quantities that they were trading with at home. One of the many loans are paid back to the Fylkariate. In the west the English are conquering tribes from the defenseless tribes rapidly.    The German war comes to an end with Brunswick surrendering first and afterwards Lübeck. With Lübeck now within Trelleborgs sphere of influence two new acts are passed in the Högting drafted by Queen Silje to increase the control of the trade in the baltic. The National Arsenal Act is established to help promote a large standing navy of the Kingdom and the Baltic Toll Act, an expansion upon the Sound Toll.    With more trade having to stop by any of the great ports of he Scanian Kingdom before proceeding to their destination great Wharfs has to be built in them and the demand for naval equipment also increase to facilitate of the growing flotilla in the Baltic. Death in glorious battle is good and all, but wouldn't the masterful farmer whose grain feeds the army and the great blacksmith whose tools provide the army with weaponry be important to the Æsir as well? It is every man's right to die in battle, but a living soldier is more important than a dead Einherjar.

 Sorry the vote is a bit late The Högting is dominated by talks about how to approach the heretics in the borderlands in the far North-East. Option 1: Uniformity Enforcement Policy  The Uniformity Enforcement Policy is brought forward by the supporters of the Fylkariate that the deviants must be dealt with immediately and without mercy. The Clergy has put this forward as a demand and not an option, there will be repercussions if the Crown does not handle the heretics. Skåne is the spear of Odin and should act accordingly punishing all those who are wicked and spread the one true faith to Midgard. Option 2: Midgard Empire Policy  Having seen how the iron glove haven't worked well in handling the Romuva or Skots some nobles propose that we should change our attitude to be more akin to how we have handled the Arabs of Jórsalheim where they have become properly integrated into the norse culture by making them part of something greater. The idea however is that Skåne should be a secular empire, not a Norse-supremacist one claiming that we have to look to the future. Option 3: Storborgare Liberty Policy  The Merchants and Burgher's of the realm who deal with different cultures and religions all the time don't understand what the fuss is about as we have managed without any intervention against the minorities in our Kingdom for so long without some minor unrest in the continental colonies at most. They want us to focus instead of giving them more liberties so they can perform more businesses and recognizing their importance to the Crown as one of the larger Estates. Remember to use the  to make my life easier!In the Continent the Norse are slowly pushing in against the Catholic worshippers and for now the Germans are powerless to stop the invaders from the North.  The English are at the Vikings Mercy as they have advanced from their Skottish possessions in the North. The English even though they have lost their Northumbrian land is still colonizing the Far West Lands.   In the Scanian colonies of Skrælingland it has started to be informally been called Eskildland as it was founded by Queen Silje's late father and without his dedication to exploring this faraway land it would never have succeeded. If you guys want, feel free to give me suggestions on what I should call the colonial nation.
