I'm not really sure where the "BETO PROBABLY JUST BUNDLED A BAJILLION DOLLARS WITH HIS CORPORATE TENTACLES" when he just raised $70MM for a Senate race, almost entirely online, with an average donation of less than $40. He has a strong base of support and long e-mail list to pull support from - I'm 99% sure he just wants another news cycle out of it and will release the number of total donors and average donation later in the week to get another bump. My calves are cramped hard.

Seems like Bernie fans are shook as hell about Beto because they both appeal to the youth vote and have similar charismatic appeals? Like I was super close to muting the word "beto" over the weekend because that's all anyone was posting about. Of course I'm only talking about online, which is not irl, so who knows. Also when Biden declares it'll suck all the air out of the room and everyone will turn a gimlet eye towards him so gotta get in while the gettin's good. Not great : / My folks live near Beaumont and whenever I go down to visit them I'm always struck by the region's industrial hellscape. Eventually that whole part of Texas is going to be an uninhabitable superfund site.

I lived in Deer Park until I was like ~12. We moved to Sugar Land after one of the explosions. Don't recall which. One of the Shell ones maybe? Or was it Phillips? I was outside at recess just across the freeway when it happened. Also around the time they installed the air quality alarms around the city.

Another goon on a discord pointed this thread out to me, I live within 2 or 3 miles from this on the edge of Pasadena/Deer Park. I'm honestly just trying to not run the AC myself and probably buy some bottled water since I usually refill at kiosks that are local and would use the local ground water.

I feel like people aren't really making the connection between rush hour and a giant flaming fire of gasoline like they should. Of course air quality sensors say it's ok - they're designed to allow a significant amount of fossil fuel exhaust prior to being triggered. I just want some folks to make the connection that hey, this giant gasoline fire is bad to hey burning fossil fuels regularly is also bad.
