i dont know what they do, but a sit down texmex place near me has the best tacos. Their meat has the most amazing flavor and texture that I've never even found anything close to, and the shells are a great fluffy kind, wheat I think.

It's been a few years since I've had the chance to go to Moon Tower, but they were always wild game hot dogs, not burgers.

Also a buffalo Vegas burger with no mayo > *

I googled this place and was like "what the gently caress why does it say i've been here two years ago" before realizing that I was there once, on a first friday, and all that happened was I was there for like a half hour and the whole time a bunch of old men roasted my lanky 20 year old rear end.

I don't remember how the burgs were but I will check them out.

How is Casa Rodriguez? Everyone I talk to hasn't been there but swears by that La Familia place on 29th and Texas at the gas station

Austinites touting international cuisines is always lol.

Where I come from we have all kind of Vietnamese and Khmer people and on my drives back and forth to Corpus I always stop in Palacios, so I just decided to check Yelp in both places while I was doing all this back in the States over time, and the goddamn funniest thing is people from Austin commenting on pho in places like Clear Lake or Sugar Land or Palacios and complaining that it's not as good as Austin.

Yeah, that's because it's the real thing, it's not your bullshit fusion nonsense lol. I've lived in Southeast Asia for the last 13 years and I know exactly what pho tastes like. The closest you're going to get is Los Angeles or Houston in terms of large metropolitan areas. Austin is utter bullshit, and the same goes for the Tex-Mex.

On the other hand, no one is better at BBQ and burgers and chicken fried steak and all the other comfort food in terms of major metro areas than Austin, where I lived for several years and have returned regularly.

E: ooh he vetoed at least one bill by every Senat D and especially hosed up Zaffirini. He also vetoed a bill designating the Bowie knife the state knife of Texas

quote:

This is the kind of resolution that a Texas Governor would sign without thinking. Fortunately, with a little thinking and study, it was learned that a statement contained in the resolution is factually incorrect: it identifies the location of Jim Bowie’s “Sandbar Fight” as “near Natchez, Louisiana,” when in fact the fight occurred near Natchez, Mississippi. So, as a thinking Governor, I think it best not to sign a factually incorrect resolution and instead to allow the Legislature to consider this next session.
