 The game needed to at least update Reuben's weapon. If he's meant to hit like a truck, he can't carry what at this point is a sharpened toothpick. Giving him a higher attack would probably still not make him as useful as Kaeli, but at least he would have something he's good at.

Considering that the game seems set on having all characters join at least once more, we should be really happy Phoebe doesn't join now. If she did, that would mean Reuben has to join later, possible when we a tackling the final dungeon.
