It's the summer TV season again, which means it's time for Big Brother. So what is Big Brother? Big Brother (BB) is the original and superior source of 24/7 voyeurism on American televisions. The weekly CBS show features footage taken from live feeds of the Big Brother House. What's the big deal about the house? It's a reality game show which forces 13+ people to live together in a house during the summer, all while competing for power to kick other people out of the house and thus out of the game. All with the goal of being the final House Guest selected as the best player and worthy of the $500,000. The 50+ cameras in the BB house capture all manner of insanity and "reality" when it comes to the House Guests. Meaning what you see on TV is barely half the story. Massive amounts of plotting and scheming are never aired, allowing the TV editors to craft whatever story they want for the viewing audience. Only the feed watchers or readers get the best take on what's really happening in the house. Interested in seeing the true story of Big Brother 16? Various sites provide running updates submitted by viewers of what's going on: Big Brother Network HamsterWatch Jokers Updates Online Big Brother CBS also will provide live streaming HD coverage. Pricing for the season is by the season or by monthly. The monthly plan is for $10, the full season plan is $27. http://www.cbs.com/shows/big_brother/live_feed/more_info/ If your cable provider offers TVGN (the station formerly known as TVGuide Network) you'll be able to watch "Big Brother After Dark" for two hours every night from 12:00-2:00 AM ET/PT seven days a week. This is another source for live feed viewing, sometimes offering different angles or a better viewing experience for that time window. This marks a new network for the program, replacing Showtime 2. While this means it's no longer a pay TV channel, your cable provider may not offer TVGN. http://www.tvgn.tv/show/BBAD The official website also provides live feed clips of content not seen on TV. http://www.cbs.com/shows/big_brother This season's twist/hook: The "Twist" this season is the Team America, Dueling HOHs and the Battle of the Block. With Team America, America will vote on to determine three members of a secret alliance who will have to follow America's commands. For the dueling HOHs, two HOHs will be crowned each week who will nominate two people for eviction. These two HOHs and the nominees will compete in the Battle of the Block to determine which HOH will stay, and which one will be removed. The remaining HOH will have their nominees remain on the block. More on Team America can be found here: http://www.cbs.com/shows/big_brother/team-america-vote/ Another new feature this year is the Houseguest Activity Tracker which they will each wear. These were given to the players in week 2. These activity updates will rank the Houseguests from most active to least active, resulting in potential rewards or punishments throughout the season based on their liveliness or laziness. This can be found here: http://www.cbs.com/shows/big_brother/fitness/ FAQ: Q - I bought a feeds subscription and all I see on the feeds is fish/trivia? A - Though it is billed as 24/7, the live feeds will not run during several specific instances: Any time a competition is ongoing, any time nominations are held, legal requirements and/or for control booth interaction. Legal requirements can include when the houseguests start to sing, the HGs talk about a family member by name who didn't sign a release or some other legally grey area. Generally the booth will cut in to warn the HGs or provide some guidance for some ongoing issue. Q - Is it even worth it to spend $$$ on the feeds? A - This year will be an unknown, since Real is no longer broadcasting the feeds. In the past CBS still controlled the feeds, Real was just the host. With CBS now hosting as well, there's hope it will not change much. As for the content, the first 75% of the season is generally interesting on the feeds, once it gets down to <6 HGs, not a whole lot of planning will be going on in the feeds which wouldn't be shown on TV. With this being an ultra-sized season, it's also unclear how padded it will be with content. Q - Can the feeds really make that big a difference in how you see an HG? A - Ask anyone who watched previous seasons. Often times controversial statements regarding gender/race/sexuality never see the light of day on the broadcast show. Instead they are relegated to the live feeds only, and serve as the only way to really see what type of people the house guests are. Last season viewer backlash finally forced CBS to air many racist and derogatory comments made by some of the Houseguests on the feeds. What's happened in Big Brother news since last season? Big Brother Canada, the offspring of BB US, aired it's second season. It was found decent by many Goons and is worth checking out if you are interested. It also appears that some of the BB Canada's viewer vote interaction will be adopted by the U.S. version this year. Teek fucked around with this message at 22:18 on Jul 10, 2014 |

Preemptive strike against Joker's Updates... that place loving sucks and is full of the worst that the Internet has to offer (unless you own a lot of cats and have room for no man!). I should know, I have a "Kill on sight" mandate if I ever post there. Every year I infiltrate their femdome and get them all cozy and as soon as a mod backtraces my IP I'm immediately hellbanned whether or not I even said anything offensive. It's amusing to me. Hamsterwatch is getting in on the updates game this year which is great because Joker's Updates is full of SJWs that will fly off the handle for the most minor of things said (especially anything construed even remotely misogynistic). gently caress those cunts is what I'm saying. That said, JU has a huge voting block that I will always categorically rally against on principle. So if JU is for someone, it's best to vote against it because again... gently caress them. Dingo at Hamsterwatch is good peep and so is Rob C at Robhasawebsite.com In closing, gently caress Jokersupdates. I can't wait to piss them off again

That was always my go-to site for recaps and such and I imagine that anyone who is willing to watch those feeds and then summarize them is at least 35% sperg by weight. Caught the premiere last night and I like the group they have now. I wish they didn't have so much promo material scattered throughout the episode that gives away the unannounced houseguests though, and would rather they be more of a surprise. I missed out on the last season entirely but have watched all of them religiously prior to that.

flashy_mcflash posted:Where does FansOfRealityTV (FoRT) rate? Never heard of it before myself. I usually use OnlineBigBrother.com for feed recaps. Between them, this thread, Twitter and watching myself I usually managed to stay pretty on top of things. If I end up stuck out for a particularly long time (eight hour shift plus family dinner or something) I also have Pocket Big Brother on my phone which contains the Jokers recap, but that's usually a last resort. I will say even if the Jokers forums are intolerable, their recapping is ok when people don't get too heavy on the editorializing. It can be amusing at times too when they start recapping like "9:08am - Danielle, who is a whore and murders puppies, is making breakfast. 9:09am - Danielle started talking about the game. What a horrible deceitful skank. Hopefully she chokes on her breakfast."

Yeah, I only really follow jokers for the news and updates. I don't go near the forum. That seems horrible. But it can be pretty decent for updates or flashback times. I post at SurvivorSucks. God is that a horrible place. Racism, "oval office this and oval office that", people obsessed with the pretty girls or boys, and way more time spent fighting with each other that talking about the show. But there's a live feed thread that I can usually follow passively and see if anything is going on because those people seem to watch 24/7. And they're obsessed with following all the former guests on Twitter and the like so I can just check in on a couple of their threads to see if something happened. But god, those obsessed people are nuts. They also hate jokers and "cat ladies" so I guess they're their mortal enemies. I think I'm probably going to try and stick to OnlineBigBrother those year. I pretty much followed The Canada season 90% there and I really enjoy their simple recap format instead of the Jokers way. So I'm hoping they do as good a job covering the US season as they did the free Canadain feeds. I don't see why they wouldn't since the place seems to have been around well before BBCanada.

Yeah OnlineBigBrother seems like the lesser of the evils as long as you have adblock plus installed. Their recaps have been really solid for the last several seasons, can't imagine them suddenly getting worse now. They miss a few inconsequential details here and there but do a reasonable job of storytelling and keeping you up to date on all the important stuff. Jokers is more a second by second record of what happens. If you want to see truly frightening people poke around the Facebook pages of players like Rupert or Sandra for a bit. We've got some Sandra fans on this forum that are pretty reasonable well adjusted people, but for some reason she seems to be a real magnet for the scariest lunatics ever. Kind of like how Jeff & Jordan seem to attract mentally unbalanced potential serial killer types.

It sounded like Zach and Frankie are in a secret F2 while Zach has an alliance with Cody and Derrick and Frankie is with Christine. It also sounded like they were saying Devin and Caleb are together and "losing it". They were talking like those two, Cody, and Paola are all expected to self destruct. Sounds like Donny and Paola are left on the block and Caleb is HOH so they were his. Sounds like Donny is going home if he doesn't win POV but I don't know why. I get the impression they're just picking him off easy because he's the old guy. Caleb has been in like an hour conversation with Paola about how in love he is with Amber and how she's the girl he's been looking for and wants to marry. It's really creepy especially since it sounds like she hasn't shown any real interest in him besides a long talk late last night and "looks" he says he's caught her giving. It sounds really obsessed and in general he sounds really full of himself. I hate him. Derrick is wearing sunglasses at night, in doors. Douche. Also, they're total cop glasses. I just find that funny if he's still lying about being a cop. Donny is a dead man walking it seems. All the guys are convinced that he's a super genius lying about himself. Another season of rocket scientists. Sounds like the first eight alliances are all busted, to no real surprise. There's some kind of new silly eight person alliance that keeps getting mention that seems to include everyone with a penis besides Hayden and Donny. Looks like its a group of douche dudes running the house. But then its all splintered with Caleb and Devin apparently being seen as shields/targets. POV competitors are Cody, Zach, and Victoria along with Caleb, Donny, and Paula. Cody and Zach are with Caleb and Victoria has no interest in rocking the boat and using it if she wins. Random stuff: Everyone seems to know who Frankie's sister is. Hayden and Joey streaked in like the first ten minutes of the feeds. Devin's voice annoys me but I can't figure out why. I assume its a Doctor Who thing. Or just some random peacock bs. But I really, really want there to be some weird story behind them and their meaning to her faith. Like they're chastity bow ties or promise bow ties or something. I want it so bad. Nicole and Christine are BFFs and hate all the cool kids. They're pretty cute together. I didn't like the first impressions from the show but I get the feeling I'm going to enjoy them on the feeds if the douche alliance doesn't take them out.
