As a real American, I'm going to spectate the bloody conflict before making an appearance late in the game.

Dunno if this is helpful, but here's a transparent overlay for the gridmap. It's sized 1900x1600, so slightly different from the (native?) size of the maps, but it should be workable.

unwantedplatypus posted:Keep in mind that their infantry cannot have crossed their ford. Looking at the map, it took 1st company five minutes to cross the five squares to ford B8. Even being generous, at most they are nearing ford L8 or are currently crossing ford P7. This is why I ordered TonySnow to bombard ford P7. Either it halts the enemy's advance long enough for us to mop up their advance elements, or we inflict significant casuatlies. We have half of our forces covering L8, so I don't think we will need artillery there. I guess he forgot people can ride vehicles?

ArchangeI posted:It seems seriously unimaginable how badly the Germans played this. The Russians are already on the objective in force while the Germans are still hemming and hawing on whether or not they should charge blindly at two reported tanks, one of which may be an IS2. I think a good chunk of credit has to be assigned to the respective high command - Dtkozl is a seasoned veteran of these threads and the game itself, and Platypus...well. Is UnwantedPlatypus.

Apparently you can get an elevation map, if you look at the Soviet thread! It's amazing how much more organized the Reds are. That's probably been as big a factor as the big guns on the IS-2 in giving them the upper hand so far. The difference in culture of leadership between Dtkozl and Unwanted Platy is apparent.

simplefish posted:I think the best shuffle would be entering experience into a table, assigning a value to it (e.g. No CM experience =0, these LPs =1, CM Touch =2, other CM=3, RT=4, with an extra category for those who own the game and are willing to check LOS), balancing the German and Soviet player pools based on these scores, picking two Top Commanders, having them select forces (game units) and have ultimate say on who gets what (from a pool of people saying "I want xyz", and if the commander wishes, first come first served or any other selection method) with those who do not get given units (and who wish to) sticking round in the pool and not reading other threads in case a replacement or 5 is needed. This seems like a pretty good solution.
