Couldn't understand a thing, but poor Mathieu looked unhappy in that post race interview. Love the pristine jersey and muddy face, though. Powers and Eckmann were 34 and 35. Wonder what happened. It's been rumored for a while now, but it looks like the USA Pro Challenge is off for 2016. They're hoping to return in 2017, but unless they can secure a title sponsor, I don't see how they can do it.

vikingstrike posted:So they confirmed that he crossed the line and not the truck? I know they were uncertain when it first happened. The police said he crossed the line, but other folks on the ride are saying the truck did. The other witnesses haven't spoken publicly yet. I know the corner where it happened, and if you're going even remotely fast, it's very easy to cross that line.

I read up a bit on jerseys and scoring and a telegraph "dummies guide to the tour de France", what should I know, what can't I miss (apparently Stage 3 was kind of an easier day?) I don't see any kind of summary like the OP for this year. Not sure about the level of detail, but here's a good overview with a pretty on-point Voeckler prediction. http://fittish.deadspin.com/the-casual-observers-guide-to-the-tour-de-france-1782751474

vikingstrike posted:Want to say I read earlier that things are looking good for it to come back next year. They still don't have sponsors in place. The remaining leadership says they're going for 2017, but without an Amgen or Larry H. Miller-type title sponsor, it's not going to happen. Other than the American riders loving it, the teams had some issues with the race. A lot of the course was ridden on remote and surprisingly flat roads with very few people around. The Denver finish and the Fort Collins and Boulder stages were well attended, but outside of that, not that many people were driving all over the state to watch the stages. I watched stages every year and had a great time. I do hope it comes back, but I'm not holding my breath. God Froome's chain looks wacky flapping down there on the trainer.
