Finally got a chance to watch all of that. Nibali owns and I'm starting to like him more these days. Contador just had to make it home in one piece and he figures he can do what he likes in the mountains.

I hope Porte Talansky Van G Valverde and all the others attack him mercilessly and constantly. It's gonna be a good one.

I stopped worrying and learned to love the Nibali in MSR. His crazy descending skills have always made me like him but the hero attack this year in MSR pushed me over the edge. He rides with panache. I hope he wins, but I can't want to see Contador attacking like a madman.

Bullshit. That was AG2R and Peraud pulling all the way until Nibali attacked. Astana has been stronger than expected but this doesn't look anything like the last 2 years.

Do other countries run their nationals the way the US does? Do they have lots of non-championship races before the they start racing for medals? Clearly Austin should have known what it was getting into but if the course wasn't quite as torn up maybe they could have run it today.

They always seem to either miss the big move due to misfortune (Vanmarcke for instance was an absolute beast at Oomloop but flatted twice at the worst possible time so missed the Etix break then pretty much singlehandedly chased 3 riders for 30km) Or they're marked so intensely they can never get away.

Vanmarcke also missed the front group at Strade Bianche by about 5 seconds and proceeded to hang in, alone, behind them keeping a constant ~15 second gap for like 20km. He's absolute beast but I don't know that he's got the savvy to win.

They've said that they re-write the columns once they get it from the author so that their idioms and such don't come across. I'd rather just enjoy that someone in the peloton is thinking what everyone on the outside is thinking. Yes, Secret Pro, we did notice that there were 6 Astana in the top 25.

Exactly, he was so invisible last year leading up to the Tour that Vino famously sent him a "get your poo poo together" letter before the Tour. He does his own thing and clearly doesn't give a gently caress what anyone thinks about his results up to now. The only time you saw him try anything was in the Ardennes and he was marked like crazy.

I don't get the outright hate for the guy. That said I don't particularly like him - his riding style is boring as hell. Even with his past I would rather watch Contador all day attacking like a crazy person and animating the race, or Nibali tearing rear end down a descent to gap the competition. Those guys make races exciting.

Don't forget the whole UCI World Tour points thing. That's the reason you see guys putting their whole train on the front to protect their 8th place on GC and not making the kind of big risky attacks we all want to see. Racing won't get fun again until they're back to racing for the win.

Sky was surprisingly fun during the classics this year. See Thomas's E3 win and Stannard beating the entire EQS team at the Omloop. They're just boring as hell when they're racing for GC.

This was early in the race while I was taking pics instead of experiencing it with my eyes. The crowd completely filled the whole space shoulder to shoulder.

Wilier doesn't make a womens' frame nor do they make one small enough to get her proper aero position on the bike. She did what she had to do to win regardless of the risk. Pretty baller move IMO. Now, if she had been 2nd or 3rd, she might be in the unemployment line...
