I'd just maybe add Shyne, I don't think anyone mentioned him. Godfather Buried Alive is a pretty cool album, and Shyne tends to have a lot of nihilistic/dark/suicidal/doomed vibes in his gangsta rap at times.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUnFcRGL8SQ
It's an album made in the middle of his ten year jail sentence, so it's bound to have some oppressive vibes. Too bad he became super weird and lovely out of jail though.

I'd say the Life of Joseph McVey would be the best introduction to his content. It stands still as the best effort Z-Ro put out that I know of. I haven't checked for him in a long time, but Life still to this day gets played all the way through on a constant basis.

Pillbug

Listened to the new Gambino tape. It reminded me of most of his other non-BTI stuff in that it just felt like a boring, store-brand version of something that was already popular (in this case, the "new Atlanta" sound). I have no idea why I would want to listen to this tape when I could listen to Honest or 1017 Thug or one of a billion Gucci tapes and get something similar but better. His R&B/"serious" stuff reminds me too much of Drake and Frank Ocean, but at least it's a lane he sounds more interesting in. Honestly the only thing this tape made me want to do is bump that Rich Gang tape again.

Also, I'm happy that ASAP is back but the new track is kind of boring. But maybe I've just been listening to Ferg for too long

Its a decent song but like everything else he does. I wouldn't say Rocky makes bad music but his style doesn't have any energy.

The production is pretty great too, though I feel like the slow chorus kills the momentum. It's not going to convince dudes who hate women rapping who aren't Nicki Minaj.

I've never understood how a dude who's supposedly really funny and clever in his comedy writing is this incompetent at writing raps. Like the Lonely Island dudes are better rappers than him ("I'm on a boat" is a better rap song than anything donglover has made, or will ever make). Like his original stuff wasn't good, but it wasn't offensive. But then dudes didn't take his joke rap career serious enough and he released camp and it's been variations on garbage since then.

At this point you aren't going to get people who aren't already fans of Gambino to change their minds because of this mixtape. If you like him you'll like the mixtape, but its free music so who cares? Plus the first drat track uses the Southern Hospitality beat and its a DJ loving DRAMA mixtape.

Flying Lotus Ft. Kendrick Lamar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lXD0vv-ds8 not sure I like this Andre 3 stacks version of Kendrick, but his contribution to the track isn't terrible.

Ludacris Hot Nigga Remix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqi2C9gfcfA this beat has to be the best of the year (well I guess of 2012 technically?) and I never get tired of it. Ludacris has still got it, but I don't know if I wanna hear anything from him outside of a track feature these days.....

Joe Budden Ft Tsu Surf and Ransom http://rapradar.com/2014/10/01/new-...othing-changes/ I fucks with Tsu Surf's battle raps and he's from my stomping grounds, but I didn't like him on this track. He's been hit or miss for me and I always worry about these battle rap cats translating onto records. It's great hearing Joe Budden and Ransom rap together again, maybe one day someone can find whatever rock Hitchcock is under and we can reunite the A-Team. (It can be just like what M.O.P is to G-Unit)

And I really love that new ASAP Rocky track, and a lot of it is just being an ex new yorker homer, especially with them being in my neighborhood train terminal for half the video. The track bangs, and will definitely get a lot of listening from me.

You guys see the Cadillactica track list? http://rapradar.com/2014/10/02/big-...over-tracklist/ this is one album I had to preorder right away, Big KRIT really showed and proved to me and won me over gradually. This album is going to be great, Mt. Olympus is an absolute classic.

It's not that it's bad, but it lacks energy like people were saying. That's frustrating too because he can make songs with energy, Peso, Bass, and Wild for the Night come to mind. His feature on Shabba Ranks is fantastic. This has a great beat, a good flow, a decent hook, but it doesn't actually make you want to jam out. At least, that's kind of how I feel and what I suspect others may agree on.

I somehow missed when this video came out a bit over a week ago but it's really loving good. Never heard of anyone on this track but makkonen and as a pretty big fan of his I'm surprised to say he's prob the least interesting part of the song despite giving a pretty solid verse. The hook is seriously channeling drake though lol
